Book excerpt: Excerpt from Rome's Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln Every Patriotic lecturer should be prepared to fur nish it to auv with whom he may come in contact who may desire, or can be prevailed upon to read it. Its price puts it within the reach of all; and it should be circulated by the millions throughout the length and breadth of the land. The suggestions which I have indulged in at its close are intended to be tentative rather than arbitrary. Book Rome s Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln with an Appendix Containing Conversations Between Abraham Lincoln and Charles Chiniquy

Download or read book Rome s Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln with an Appendix Containing Conversations Between Abraham Lincoln and Charles Chiniquy written by Thomas Maley Harris and published by . This book was released on 2014-11-11 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author of this book, General Thomas Maley Harris, was a medical doctor, who recruited and served as commander of the Tenth West Virginia Volunteers during the Civil War. He rose in rank through meritorious service to become a brigadier general in the Union Army. General Harris established a reputation for faithfulness, industriousness, intelligent, and efficiency. He was noted for his leadership in preparing his troops and leading them in battle. He was brevetted a major general for "gallant conduct in the assault on Petersburg." General Harris was a member of the military commission that tried and convicted the conspirators who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. After the war, General Harris served one term as a representative in the West Virginia legislature, and was West Virginia's Adjutant General from 1869 to 1870. He had first hand knowledge of the sworn testimony of the witnesses in that trial. This book summarizes the salient evidence brought out during the military trial and adds information from other sources to present before the U.S. public the ineluctable conclusion that the assassination of Abraham Lincoln was the work of the Roman Catholic Church. The Roman Catholic Church has been largely successful in suppressing the circulation of this book. This book was never given a place on bookstore shelves, as it exposed too much for the Roman Catholic hierarchy to tolerate. Any display of this book would bring an instant boycott of the bookstore. It is only now, in the age of the internet, where the marketplace of ideas has been opened wide that this book can be found by those searching for the truth of who was behind the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

This book was released on 2016-10-26 with total page 20 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Story of Abraham Lincoln's Assassination After securing a room at the hotel and something to eat we called up Mr. Kelly, our representative, who came to see us; and shortly after his coming we were told that the President was with his cabinet busily engaged in trying to solve the problem of the hour, so that we would not be able to see him, perhaps for several days. We were also unable to get my uncle from the hospital. The Adjutant General, from whom we were to get the permit was also busy, so we spent the best part of that day in sight-seeing, getting back to the hotel in the late afternoon. Seeing a copy of the eve ning paper and in looking over it I found an item that I thought would interest Father. This was a notice to the public informing them that President Lincoln, Mrs. Lin coln, General and Mrs. Grant would be at Fords Theater that night to witness the play of the American Cousin, it being the thousandth night - nine hundred and ninety nine nights in New York - this being the thousandth, but the first night in Washington. This night was also to be a benefit one to Laura Keene, the leading lady of the play. I immediately called Father's attention to the news item, then he turned to the clerk of the hotel and asked, Is there any chance of getting two tickets for, the show tonight? The clerk replied, I don't know. The ticket scalpers have bought up the house. If you get tickets for tonight you will have to pay a stiff price for them. Well, said Father, see what you can do for us. Then turning around to me he said, I guess this will be our only chance to see him. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Assassination of Lincoln When it was known in February, 1861, that a conspiracy to assassinate the president-elect on his way to the capital, had been discovered and thwarted, the peril of the nation was the thought uppermost in all minds. When on the 14th of April, I 865, the news flashed over the land, that conspiracy had compassed the death of Abraham Lincoln, it was grief for the man that filled all hearts, for in those four intervening years his countrymen had learned to know, to love, and to trust him. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Assassination of Abraham Lincoln: Flight, Pursuit, Capture, and Punishment of the Conspirators The many accounts of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln that have been written make me hesitate to offer still another; but having lived for ten years under the roof that once sheltered him in Springfield, Ill., and eight years later in the house in which he died, and having met so many persons during the past thirty-six years who either assisted in the escape of the conspirators or took some official part in their capture, trial, and punishment, rare opportunities have been offered me for gathering much true and valuable historical data on this subject.
