Book Stability and Control of Linear Systems

Download or read book Stability and Control of Linear Systems written by Andrea Bacciotti and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-02 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This advanced textbook introduces the main concepts and advances in systems and control theory, and highlights the importance of geometric ideas in the context of possible extensions to the more recent developments in nonlinear systems theory. Although inspired by engineering applications, the content is presented within a strong theoretical framework and with a solid mathematical background, and the reference models are always finite dimensional, time-invariant multivariable linear systems. The book focuses on the time domain approach, but also considers the frequency domain approach, discussing the relationship between the two approaches, especially for single-input-single-output systems. It includes topics not usually addressed in similar books, such as a comparison between the frequency domain and the time domain approaches, bounded input bounded output stability (including a characterization in terms of canonical decomposition), and static output feedback stabilization for which a simple and original criterion in terms of generalized inverse matrices is proposed. The book is an ideal learning resource for graduate students of control theory and automatic control courses in engineering and mathematics, as well as a reference or self-study guide for engineers and applied mathematicians.

Book Robust Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems

Download or read book Robust Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems written by Rama K. Yedavalli and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-05 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook aims to provide a clear understanding of the various tools of analysis and design for robust stability and performance of uncertain dynamic systems. In model-based control design and analysis, mathematical models can never completely represent the “real world” system that is being modeled, and thus it is imperative to incorporate and accommodate a level of uncertainty into the models. This book directly addresses these issues from a deterministic uncertainty viewpoint and focuses on the interval parameter characterization of uncertain systems. Various tools of analysis and design are presented in a consolidated manner. This volume fills a current gap in published works by explicitly addressing the subject of control of dynamic systems from linear state space framework, namely using a time-domain, matrix-theory based approach. This book also: Presents and formulates the robustness problem in a linear state space model framework. Illustrates various systems level methodologies with examples and applications drawn from aerospace, electrical and mechanical engineering. Provides connections between lyapunov-based matrix approach and the transfer function based polynomial approaches. Robust Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems: A Linear State Space Approach is an ideal book for first year graduate students taking a course in robust control in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering.

Book Robust Control of Linear Systems Subject to Uncertain Time Varying Parameters

Download or read book Robust Control of Linear Systems Subject to Uncertain Time Varying Parameters written by Francesco Amato and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-02-21 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last thirty years have witnessed an enormous effort in the field of robust control of dynamical systems. The main objective of this book is that of presenting, in a unified framework, the main results appeared in the literature on this topic, with particular reference to the robust stability problem for linear systems subject to time-varying uncertainties. The book mainly focuses on those problems for which a definitive solution has been found; indeed most of the results we shall present are given in the form of necessary and sufficient conditions involving the feasibility of Linear Matrix Inequalities based problems. For self-containedness purposes, most of the results provided in the book are proven. We have tried to maintain the development of the proofs as simple as possible, without sacrificing the mathematical rigor. Some parts of the book (especially those contained in Chaps. 2, 3 and 5) can be teached in advanced control courses; however this work is mainly devoted to both researchers in the field of systems and control theory and engineers working in industries which want to apply the methodologies presented in the book to practical control problems. To this regard, as the various results are derived, they are immediately reinforced with real world examples.

Book Switched Positive Linear Systems

Download or read book Switched Positive Linear Systems written by Franco Blanchini and published by . This book was released on 2015-10-19 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Positive systems are an important class of systems that frequently arise in application areas, such as in the chemical process industry, electronic circuit design, communication networks, and biology. The study of the stability of such systems differs from standard systems in that the analysis focuses only on the trajectories generated under positivity constraints. Switched positive systems also arise in a variety of applications. Examples can be found in TCP congestion control, in processes described by non-homogeneous Markov chains, in image processing, in biochemical networks, and so on. In comparison to general switched systems, that have received a lot of attention in the past years, the theory for positive switched systems is still in its infancy. Switched Positive Linear Systems studies the stability, performance evaluation, stabilization via switching control, and optimal control of (continuous-time and linear) positive switched systems. It provides a review of the results that have already been established in the literature. Other results, especially those related to norm computation and optimization, are new and are presented integrated with previous ones. Switched Positive Linear Systems provides a comprehensive and timely introduction to the study of such systems. Readers who are new to the topic will find everything required to understand such systems in a concise and accessible form.
