Book Dynamics in Logistics

Download or read book Dynamics in Logistics written by Michael Freitag and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-04-15 with total page 575 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 2007, the biennial International Conferences on Dynamics in Logistics (LDIC) offers researchers and practitioners from logistics, operations research, production, industrial and electrical engineering as well as from computer science an opportunity to meet and to discuss the latest developments in this particular research domain. From February 12th to 14th 2020 for the seventh time, LDIC 2020 is held in Bremen, Germany. Similar to its six predecessors, the Bremen Research Cluster for Dynamics in Logistics (LogDynamics) organizes this conference. The spectrum of topics reaches from the dynamic modeling, planning and control of processes over supply chain management and maritime logistics to innovative technologies and robotic applications for cyber-physical production and logistics systems. LDIC 2020 provides a forum for the discussion of advances in that matter. The conference program consists of three invited keynote speeches and 51 papers selected by a severe double-blind reviewing process. Within these proceedings all the papers are published. By this, the proceedings give an interdisciplinary outline on the state of the art of dynamics in logistics as well as identify challenges and solutions for logistics today and tomorrow.

Book Driver Behaviour and Training

Download or read book Driver Behaviour and Training written by Lisa Dorn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-12 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This title was first published in 2003. Research on driver behaviour over the past two decades has demonstrated that driver characteristics, goals and motivations are important determinants of driving behaviour. We are now in a position to apply this knowledge to driver training programs and evaluate their effectiveness in improving safety. The main objective for the First International Conference on Driver Behaviour and Training and this book, is to describe and discuss recent advances in this field. The book bridges the gap between practitioners in road safety, and theoreticians investigating driving behaviour from a number of different perspectives and related disciplines. It will encourage research in driver training to combat erroneous or deviant driving behaviour and/or reduce the effects of human error at source. This book will be of interest to road safety researchers and road safety practitioners in the private and public sector.

Book excerpt: This book provides significant conceptual and empirical contributions to the understanding of service science and the practices of service sectors in the wake of the fourth industrial revolution bringing together a collection of articles written by keynote and invited speakers at the 2nd Service Science Symposium held on 24 November 2019. The symposium was organised by the Serviceology Society Malaysia (SESMA), which aims to bring service researchers and practitioners under one roof to redefine service concepts and ideas and explore their application in real industrial and community settings. In their contributions, authors present multiple real-world cases of service systems to demonstrate how organisations can incorporate service science to achieve sustainable development. By re-examining the existing service science models and the value creation process using valuable insights obtained from industries and communities in Malaysia, Japan and Taiwan, the authors present a new way forward for organisations.

Book World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention

Download or read book World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention written by Marjorie Peden and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2008-09 with total page 67 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every day thousands of people are killed and injured on our roads. Millions of people each year will spend long weeks in the hospital after severe crashes and many will never be able to live, work or play as they used to do. Current efforts to address road safety are minimal in comparison to this growing human suffering. This report presents a comprehensive overview of what is known about the magnitude, risk factors and impact of road traffic injuries, and about ways to prevent and lessen the impact of road crashes. Over 100 experts, from all continents and different sectors -- including transport, engineering, health, police, education and civil society -- have worked to produce the report. Charts and tables.

Book Laser Scanning Systems in Highway and Safety Assessment

Download or read book Laser Scanning Systems in Highway and Safety Assessment written by Biswajeet Pradhan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-02 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book aims to promote the core understanding of a proper modelling of road traffic accidents by deep learning methods using traffic information and road geometry delineated from laser scanning data. The first two chapters of the book introduce the reader to laser scanning technology with creative explanation and graphical illustrations, review and recent methods of extracting geometric road parameters. The next three chapters present different machine learning and statistical techniques applied to extract road geometry information from laser scanning data. Chapters 6 and 7 present methods for modelling roadside features and automatic road geometry identification in vector data. After that, this book goes on reviewing methods used for road traffic accident modelling including accident frequency and injury severity of the traffic accident (Chapter 8). Then, the next chapter explores the details of neural networks and their performance in predicting the traffic accidents along with a comparison with common data mining models. Chapter 10 presents a novel hybrid model combining extreme gradient boosting and deep neural networks for predicting injury severity of road traffic accidents. This chapter is followed by deep learning applications in modelling accident data using feed-forward, convolutional, recurrent neural network models (Chapter 11). The final chapter (Chapter 12) presents a procedure for modelling traffic accident with little data based on the concept of transfer learning. This book aims to help graduate students, professionals, decision makers, and road planners in developing better traffic accident prediction models using advanced neural networks.
