Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sudoku fans will welcome this bright new twist to the popular puzzles! Every one of these ingenious creations--from "Bold X" to "Rainbow Up"--makes colors and patterns part of the solving fun. And although each puzzle maintains the normal 9x9 grid and follows the basic rules of the game, every style adds an additional restriction to intensify the challenge. In "Worms," for example, swirly, squirmy shapes fill the grids; the numbers increase as you work your way from head to tail. "Even/Odd" features squares in two colors, depending on whether the number to fill it is even or odd. And in "Positional Board," no two of the red squares can be the same number. They're all lots of fun!

Book Bridget Riley

Download or read book Bridget Riley written by Bridget Riley and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published on the occasion of her exhibition of the same name at Kettle's Yard, Cambridge (24 September - 20 November 2011), this catalogue traces Bridget Riley's progress through the agency of stripes, planes and curves through her paintings and studies from the past 30 years. Riley's early colour paintings were strongly influenced by the discoveries of Seurat and the Impressionists. Study of Cezanne, in particular his practice of drawing with colour and a desire to dig deeper into pictorial space, led to the introduction of planes in grids formed by the junction of intersecting verticals and diagonals - and of colours and contrasts. Accompanying 13 works from the exhibition is an interview with the artist conducted by the Director of Kettle's Yard, Michael Harrison, which focusses on Riley's continuous movement through colour and the influence of other artists in her work."

A fresh start is in order, but he has no idea who to do that when he's not even sure what he wants in the first place. Ryan Daily is a pro at hiding his insecurities. In the middle of their budding friendship, desire blooms unexpectedly. Ryan has kept his heart protected after having it shattered, and Caleb - no stranger to attraction - finds that what he has with Ryan is on a whole new level from anything he's experienced before. In a world of black and white, they bring each other color. But life is never simple. Book Bridget Riley Works from 1981 2015

Download or read book Bridget Riley Works from 1981 2015 written by Bridget Riley and published by David Zwirner Books. This book was released on 2016-07-26 with total page 97 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bridget Riley’s explorations of perception through form and color have made her into one of the most significant painters working today. Since the early 1960s, she has used elementary shapes—lines, circles, curves, and squares—to create visual experiences that immediately draw the viewer in, often triggering optical vibrations and illusions. More recently, Riley has shifted back to black and white in her large-scale paintings, marking a departure from her recent colored stripe paintings and a return to the palette of some of her earliest works. Published on the occasion of her 2015 solo exhibition at David Zwirner, Bridget Riley: Works 1981–2015 presents paintings from the last thirty-four years of her career, including images of Rajasthan, a wall painting previously shown in Germany and England, and exhibited for the first time in New York. These dynamic reproductions begin with stripe paintings from the 1980s and end with a coda of sorts —a return to black and white that ties back to her work from the 1960s, but bear traces of Riley’s deep engagement with color in the interim. As critic Éric de Chassey puts it in his essay for Riley’s 2015 catalogue with Galerie Max Hetzler: “The black-and-white paintings not only enter into a dialogue with the 1960s works, but take stock of every painting experience Riley has created during a long career.” Also included is a selection of the artist’s works on paper; taken together, these complementary aspects of her practice over the past four decades reveal the astonishing variety she has achieved by developing and rediscovering different forms. An essay by art historian Richard Shiff helps contextualize the developments in Riley’s practice since the early 1980s, and further emphasizes her influence and lineage as a painter. Rounding out the publication are biographical notes by Robert Kudielka, one of the artist’s foremost critics. With a career spanning six decades, Bridget Riley remains one of the most exciting painters today, and Bridget Riley: Works 1981–2015 presents a selection of works from what may be her richest period to date.
