This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Right and Wrong Thinking, and Their Results, the Undreamed-of Possibilities Which Man May, Achieve Through His Own Mental Control Some years ago this book was born into thought by the perception of its fundamental principle, and it has been growing ever since. During the intervening years this principle and its allied ideas have been presented more or less fully in the form of independent class lectures to many groups of persons. It is with hesitation that it is now offered to the public in its present form, because it is still growing; but having seen the great advantages which have come to many from the practice of its principles, there arose the earnest desire to extend the Opportunity for similar help to greater numbers. The first lesson to be learned in the school of life is to understand ones own personality or individuality, so as to estimate it at its true value, and to be able to use it for good and to avoid using it for evil. The Teaching Of Jesus 386 Notwithstanding the immense amount of attention which has been directed in a broad general way to mind and its action, and although the constructive and creative ability of mind through thinking has been so long and so universally acknowledged, yet we are just now beginning to recognize the close and direct personal relation which thinking bears to man. The limits of the power of mind have never been clearly perceived, but recognition of their extent continually enlarges as knowledge and understanding increase. The differences between ignorant and enlightened, between savage and civilized, between brute and man, are all due to mind and its action. All the multifarious customs and habits of mankind, whether simple or complex, though often attributed to other causes, are, from first to last, the direct results of thinking. The unwritten history of the evolution of clothing, from its rude beginnings in the far-distant and forgotten past through all the ages since man first inhabited the earth, though at first glance seemingly simple, yet, as a whole, is wonderfully complex and astonishing in its particulars. Its story is only the story of the application of mind to the solution of a single one of the vast multitude of problems connected with human requirements. It is true that our factories and palaces, our temples and our homes, are built of earthly material, but mind directed their fashioning into the vast multitude of forms, more or less beautiful, so lavishly displayed by architecture in city and country. The multitudinous products of constructive art which are scattered in lavish profusion over the whole earth are marvelous exhibitions of what mind has done; and these are being multiplied daily. Only in these more recent years has it been clearly perceived that mind action is first in the order of occurrence, and that it is the absolute ruler of man himself as well as of all these wonderful works which mind has created. Mind is the motor power and governs everything, everywhere; but man can control mind, and therefore, by that control, he may be the imperious dictator of his mind's entire course, and, rising thence to the highest pinnacle of possibility, he may become the arbiter of destiny itself.

Book Thinking for Results Classic Reprint

Download or read book Thinking for Results Classic Reprint written by Christian D. Larson and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-16 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Thinking for Results It is a well known fact that we can produce any effect desired when we understand causes, and can master those causes. And as the process of thinking is the one underlying cause in the life of man we naturally become master over all life when we can understand and master the process of thinking. Each 'process of thinking produces its own results in mind and body and acts indirectly upon all the actions and efforts of mind and body. Therefore, through adverse thinking al most any undesirable condition may beproduced while almost any condition of worth and value can be produced through wholesome thinking. Certain. Processes of thought will lead to sickness, others to poverty, while processes of thought that are entirely different from these will lead to health, power and prosperity. Through chaotic thinking one can bring about years of trouble and misfortune, while through a properly arranged sys tem of thinking one can determine his own future for years and years in ad vance. Everything that happens to a man is the result of something that he has done or fails to do., But since both actions and inactions come from corresponding states of mind he can make almost any thing happen that he likes when he learns to regulate his thinking. This may seem to be a very strong statement, but the more perfectly we understand the rela tion of mental action to physical and per sonal action the more convinced we become that this statement is absolutely true. When we study the laws of nature we find that certain results invariably followcertain uses of those laws; and that other results follow the misuse of those laws. We find that a misused law can finally carry you to the lowest depths, and that a law that is perfectly understood and properly applied can carry you to the greatest heights. In the use of natural law, however, we are at liberty to change our mind at any time; that is, when we find ourselves going down we can turn about and go the other way; though the fact remains that if we continue the down grade we will finally reach the low est depths. The same is true when we find ourselves advancing; we may be come negligent and fall back, but the law in question can carry us on higher and higher without end if we choose to go. The laws that govern thinking are just as absolute as the well known laws of nature and will serve man just as faith fully after he has begun to apply them with understanding. Book excerpt: Thinking For Results is a book by American New Thought leader Christian D. Larson, first published in 1912. It is a short self-help book that encourages you to change your way of thinking in order to become more successful in life. Larson discusses various ways in which to do this, how people should keep a positive mind, have end goals in sight, live in accordance with natural laws, and accept that mental conceptions will improve with greater concentration on the good things in one's life. Man is as he thinks he is, and what he does is the result of the sum total of his thought. The average person, however, thinks at random and therefore lives at random and does not know from day to day whether good or evil lies in his path. What he finds in his path is invariably the result of his own thinking, but as he does not know what results different kinds of thought produce he creates both good and evil daily not knowing that he necessarily does either of these. When he knows what each mental state will produce, however, and has gained the power to think as he likes under all sorts of circumstances, then he will have fate, destiny, environment, physical conditions, mental conditions, attainments, achievements and in fact everything in his own hands. You never think scientifically unless you think for a purpose; it is therefore purposeless thinking that you must avoid. To train the mind to think only in the right states of mind we must learn to distinguish between right and wrong mental states, though this is a matter that becomes very simple when we understand that the difference between right and wrong states of mind is found in this, that the former tends to relate the mind properly to the laws, the principles and the powers of life, while the latter tends to prevent that relationship.
