Book Wellbeing for Sustainability in the Global Workplace

Download or read book Wellbeing for Sustainability in the Global Workplace written by Paola Ochoa and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-07-04 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wellbeing in the workplace is an essential element in fostering a worker’s sense of being valued, ensuring their engagement, and ultimately leading to higher levels of productivity and organizational performance. This important book specifically adds to the discussion by taking a global perspective, and evaluates wellbeing in the workplace in different countries, identifying both universal issues and specific cultural issues. Chapter authors have been drawn from across five continents and eleven countries to provide ground-breaking research in wellbeing from different regional perspectives, looking at both developed and developing world scenarios. What is clear throughout the book is that organizations that are not people-centered undermine their capacity to attain and maintain quality standards, high performance, and competitiveness. Organizational concerns about workers' wellbeing are growing exponentially due to the global VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous) environment. In this environment, organizational success is no longer simply based on short-term revenue maximization, capital investments, or sales, but increasingly depends on people’s wellbeing, human capital, and the development of human talent to ensure sustained and sustainable growth and performance. This book presents a collection of studies that address current and forthcoming organizational challenges and offer realistic solutions to support leaders and managers seeking to balance and value the contribution of people with long-term organizational performance.

Book Perspectives on Workplace Communication and Well Being in Hybrid Work Environments

Download or read book Perspectives on Workplace Communication and Well Being in Hybrid Work Environments written by Duarte, Alexandre and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2023-05-08 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world has been facing the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic for over two years now. Daily life changed dramatically, and social distancing and remote working have become the new normal. Research about how people are facing these challenges points to common findings and concerns. The pandemic has enhanced inequalities, taken a toll on mental health, and increased the use of digital technologies. Many workers are suffering from “digital fatigue” and struggle to self-regulate their life/work balance, as the permanent digital connection to work is reinforced and they struggle with the blurred borders concerning privacy, leisure, and rest. In this context, it is vital to research how organizations have reinvented themselves to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic and understand which of the reactive workplace communication practices and improvised solutions were considered advantageous. Perspectives on Workplace Communication and Well-Being in Hybrid Work Environments presents different approaches that explore the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on workplace communication, focusing specifically on internal communication, mapping new communication practices, and assessing their consequences, namely the well-being of the workers who are coping with these changes. The book combines a scientific exploration of these ongoing changes as we transition to a post-COVID-19 world with a collection of examples and best practices that help organizations in supporting their members through these transformations and in nurturing their well-being. Covering topics such as cross-department process dependencies, hybrid work environments, and wellbeing strategies, this premier reference source is a vital resource for business leaders and managers, IT managers, human resource professionals, students and educators of higher education, librarians, researchers, and academicians.

Book Leadership and Organizational Sustainability

Download or read book Leadership and Organizational Sustainability written by Elia Socorro Díaz Nieto and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-06-27 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents a new type of leadership focused on sustainable human development and organizational sustainability, which is based on the self-realization of the person of the leader, which means the satisfaction of their needs, according to the scale of Abraham Maslow, through integral human development in all aspects of life. Because the term "leader" appears to refer to anyone with the authority to confer a position with subordinates, the reality within organizations has shown that a leader must go further and demonstrate commitment, awareness, and concern for the common good. Which person has these characteristics? People who have had more opportunity to develop in different areas of their being, resulting in them being conceived as more educated. The qualities in a person are the basis of leadership. Education and practice are much more important than all hereditary and genetic codes. This volume explores the various ways of making explicit the dimensions of social, economic, and environmental sustainability through knowledge management that addresses the identification, collection, processing, circulation, use, exchange, and preservation of knowledge within operating systems and the context of organizations, considering issues that contribute to sustainability – human and organizational – where the leader is the main actor and the means is knowledge management.
