Book Rice Field Bird Pest Control Device with Mechanical Electric System

Download or read book Rice Field Bird Pest Control Device with Mechanical Electric System written by Ardiyanto Saleh Modjo and published by Asadel Publisher. This book was released on 2023-08-21 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bird pests, particularly the Rice Paddy (Oryza sativa L) Eater Bird Pest, have long posed a significant threat to both rice cultivation and the livelihoods of farmers. This book, "Rice Field Bird Pest Control Device with Mechanical Electric System," delves into the innovative realms of avian pest control, offering a comprehensive exploration of a groundbreaking prototype aimed at mitigating the challenges faced by rice farmers. Traditionally, farmers have had to laboriously engage in manual bird-repelling techniques, necessitating their constant presence in the rice fields to fend off attacks by sparrows. However, these conventional methods suffer from a critical drawback - the lack of autonomous functionality. This book presents a pioneering solution to this age-old predicament, focusing on the development of a prototype bird pest control tool with an electric mechanical system. The core of this ingenious system lies in an electric motor that operates autonomously, alleviating farmers' burdens in terms of effort and time. The system's activation is initiated by either sound, detected by a sensor, or physical contact with an object. Once activated, the electronic circuit responds by facilitating the flow of electric current from a battery to drive the electric motor. Subsequently, the rope drive lever or mechanical rod is set into motion, causing the ropes to move. This orchestrated movement, in turn, agitates the objects attached to the ropes, producing vibrations and sounds designed to startle the birds away. "Rice Field Bird Pest Control Device with Mechanical Electric System" presents a promising and innovative approach to the persistent challenge of bird pests in rice paddies. This book provides a detailed account of the design and operation of this automatic bird controller, offering insights into its efficacy in safeguarding rice grain harvests and the economic well-being of farmers.

Book Granivorous Birds in Ecosystems

Download or read book Granivorous Birds in Ecosystems written by Jan Pinowski and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2012-03-29 with total page 455 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was first published in 1977. It deals with the importance of weed seed and grain-eating birds in natural and agricultural environments. These birds are to be found worldwide and are a component of man-made ecosystems where they are associated with man's main food crops. An analysis is made of their evolution and genetics, population dynamics, energy and food requirements, impact on ecosystems and control. Principles, procedures and basic data are presented that can be applied to the evaluation and control of pest species anywhere in the world. In this synthesis volume full use is made of the systems approach, the ecological and evolutionary aspects of the study are integrated. In linking the studies with fundamental work on bioenergetics, new insights are provided into the behavioural and applied aspects of granivory. Studies which encompass archaeological and anthropological investigations form a backcloth for the detailed interpretation of the population biology and bioenergetics of birds.

Book Food Safety Risks from Wildlife

Download or read book Food Safety Risks from Wildlife written by Michele Jay-Russell and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-15 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foodborne illnesses caused by zoonotic pathogens associated with wildlife hosts are an emerging microbial food safety concern. Transmission of foodborne pathogens can occur through ingestion, or improper handling, of contaminated game meat. Wild and feral animals have also been investigated as potential sources of Campylobacter, Escherichia coli O157:H7 and other enteric pathogens following foodborne disease outbreaks linked to fresh fruits and vegetables (e.g., baby spinach in California, shelled-peas in Alaska, strawberries in Oregon). This book explores the range of bacterial, parasitic, and viral pathogens that have been described in wildlife populations in the United States, Europe and other parts of the world. It also addresses important challenges and solutions to balance agriculture, conservation, and public health goals. The book provides unique information on approaches in risk communication, co-management, and One Health in a wildlife-food safety context. The first five chapters review research on the detection, epidemiology and ecology of foodborne pathogens in wildlife populations including the influence of wildlife-livestock-human interactions. The second half of the book addresses current guidelines to mitigate microbial food safety risks from wildlife hosts and new regulations proposed by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in the Food Safety Modernization Act Produce Safety Rule. Chapters are written by an array of internationally reco gnized authors, and will be of interest to agriculture safety experts, ecologists, environmental health specialists, food safety professionals, microbiologists, public health practitioners, veterinarians, wildlife biologists, and others in academia, government, industry, and students in these disciplines.
