Download or read book The Rhythms Of Life written by Leon Kreitzman and published by Profile Books. This book was released on 2011-09-30 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Popular science at its most exciting: the breaking new world of chronobiology - understanding the rhythm of life in humans and all plants and animals. The entire natural world is full of rhythms. The early bird catches the worm -and migrates to an internal calendar. Dormice hibernate away the winter. Plants open and close their flowers at the same hour each day. Bees search out nectar-rich flowers day after day. There are cicadas that can breed for only two weeks every 17 years. And in humans: why are people who work anti-social shifts more illness prone and die younger? What is jet-lag and can anything help? Why do teenagers refuse to get up in the morning, and are the rest of us really 'larks' or 'owls'? Why are most people born (and die) between 3am-5am? And should patients be given medicines (and operations) at set times of day, because the body reacts so differently in the morning, evening and at night? The answers lie in our biological clocks the mechanisms which give order to all living things. They impose a structure that enables us to change our behaviour in relation to the time of day, month or year. They are reset at sunrise and sunset each day to link astronomical time with an organism's internal time.
Download or read book Rhythm of Life written by Jnanendu Majumdar and published by Partridge Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07-21 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the years, right from young to old age, we all witness a sea of change in people, particularly from different generations and, hence, a shift in priorities of life and consequent value systems. But the basic emotional needs like peace, happiness, love, etc., still remain the same; and that, too, in all countries, through the means of getting them, have shifted to a great extent with a rapid change in lifestyle. Young people, including kids, these days often fall victim to situation and commit suicide, go through sudden separation/divorce, and also be violent and kill in extreme cases. The major strain nowadays is on all types of relationships like parents and children, husband and wife, lovers and friends, boss and subordinates, among colleagues, etc. The relationship between a woman and man, which is the primary base in life and that all look for, prompted the author to reflect and write life-like stories of four main couples in the backdrop of the narrators own, from different countries and social background and even with cultural differences. They come to know each other in person or over the Net, build a relationship, go through conflicts of interests; and some sustain and even enrich the relationship while some break away due to basic values of life. A relationship is not a deal; it is rather based on intrinsic values like understanding, adjustment, mutual respect, admiration of special qualities ( as each individual has), openness with clear communications, and above all, trust and responsibility enveloped in love. To sever a relationship, there should be enough courage and inner strength to uphold the principle of intrinsic values in our life without sweet coatings. All episodes provide some history and geographic background apart from sociopolitical aspects to understand the mould of each character and their characteristics, while all couples are beaded through the common string of Rhythm of Life!
Download or read book The Whole Life written by David Stine and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2019-01-29 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by 1 Thessalonians 5:23, this new book from Pastor David Stine focuses on the three parts of your being—the spirit, the soul, and the body—and shows how you can experience a balanced and more fulfilled life when you take care of all three. Pastor David Stine was the head of a growing church in the nation’s capital. He was seeing exponential church growth and reaching hearts and minds for God. But inside, he felt spiritually dry. He was burnt out. His health suffered, and his preaching became uninspired. Then, one day he read 1 Thessalonians 5:23 in a way he never had before. The verse, he now saw, clearly indicated that were three parts to the human self—the spirit, the soul, and the physical body. He had only been focusing on one part and realized his life was seriously out of balance with the way God intended. As soon as Pastor Stine began to focus on his emotional well-being and physical health in addition to his spiritual fitness, everything changed. He began to see that all three elements are interconnected and necessary for a vibrant Christian life. Divided into three sections, The Whole Life is a practical guide to leading an empowered and balanced life. The Spiritual Formation section discusses the importance of Prayer, the need to read scripture regularly, and the necessity of having a God-sized dream to guide you. The Soul Care section covers your mind, your emotions, and your desires, while the Body Health sections discusses nutrition, exercise, and rest. In each section, Pastor Stine helps you identify where you are thriving and where you are depriving yourself so that you can achieve a healthy whole body and, in turn, a whole life. Providing practical and inspiring ways to feed and nurture yourself, Pastor Stine guides you to discover how you, too, can have a whole, balanced life in Christ.

For those caught up in the busyness of work, family, and church, it often feels like time with God is just another thing on a crowded “to-do’ list. Ken explains how the time-tested spiritual practice of the “rule of life” can help bring busy people into a closer relationship with God. He shows how a personal rule of life can fit almost any vocation or life situation. In God in My Everything, you will discover how to create and practice a life-giving, sustainable rhythm in the midst of your demanding life. If you long for a deeper spirituality but often feel that the busyness of life makes a close relationship with God challenging—and, at times, seemingly impossible—this book is for you.
