Fremde sowie Vertraute Klänge können die Säuglinge nach der Geburt wahrnehmen und unterscheiden und das Schlaflied wird auch nach der Geburt zum festen "Entspannungsritual". Auch dass Musik gewisse Erinnerungen hervorrufen und somit Gefühle reproduzieren können, ist allgemein bekannt. Musiktherapie hat sich im Laufe der letzten fünf Jahrzehnte dort etabliert, wo Klienten oder Patienten zu finden sind, wo psychotherapeutische Behandlung bzw. psychohygienische Begleitung krankheits-, behinderungs- störungs- oder krisenbedingter körperlich-seelisch-geistiger Zustände und Prozesse am wirkungsvollsten unter Einbezug des Mediums Musik geschehen kann.
