Comment satisfaire les besoins, notamment la demande légitime de rattrapage de niveau de vie des pays en développement, tout en modifiant radicalement notre consommation d’énergie ? Il faut repenser le système de développement dans son ensemble, prendre en compte les contraintes physiques et économiques, envisager les conséquences des changements d’utilisation de l’énergie, notamment sous forme d’électricité décarbonée, en termes d’atteintes à la biodiversité, d’occupation de l’espace, de consommation de matériaux et de contraintes géopolitiques. Pour que la solution ne soit pas pire que le mal, le diagnostic doit être rigoureux, étayé par des données scientifiques, en abordant de front les obstacles à surmonter.
