Download or read book Vitreo retinal Surgery written by Stanislao Rizzo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2010-11-18 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the introduction of vitrectomy in the 1970s, vitreoretinal surgery has rapidly developed. Initially, new instrumentations were created to facilitate intraocular maneuvers and to treat almost all the vitreoretinal pathologies. High speed vitrectome probs, forceps, scissors, endolaser probes, and new light sources (xenon/photon light) permit us to perform safer surgeries. However, in the last few years the approach to vitreoretinal surgery has changed with the introduction of small gauge instruments and sutureless surgery. At present there is still confusion among vitreoretinal surgeons about the use of 25-, 23- or 20-gauge sutureless systems. Leading surgeons in the field were recruited to offer their insights into the sutureless techniques they perform. Topics dealt with in the book include: - fluidics and technical characteristics of 23- and 25-gauge systems, - basic vitrectomy techniques of 23- and 25-gauge systems, - sclerotomy characteristics of the sutureless approach, - advantages and disadvantages of the sutureless technique, - vitreoretinal pathologies treated with 23- and 25-gauge systems, - complications of the sutureless technique, - current clinical data.
Download or read book Silicone Oil in Vitreoretinal Surgery written by R. Zivojnovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 252 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With this book, Dr. Zivojnovic presents to the ophthalmic community the long awaited detailed report of his surgical concepts and operative techniques in the field of vitreoretinal surgery. It is fascinating to read how his concepts for the treatment of complicated retinal detachments evolved from the intra ocular use of silicone oil to a combination of vitreous surgery with silicone oil tamponade. The next step was surgical treatment of the retina itself. It takes an unconventional mind to break major taboos and to state the retinotomies and retinectomies are necessary if scar tissue cannot be surgically removed and that buckling procedures are no longer necessary to treat retinal breaks. This book discusses the use of silicone oil in vitreoretinal surgery. Silicone oil tamponade has been proven to be a major step forward in vitreoretinal surgery and the reported results speak for themselves. The reader may have the impression that silicone is thought to be indispensible for almost all cases undergoing this type of surgery but this modality is used to treat severe cases where the chances of success are greatly enhanced by using silicone oil. Dr. Zivojnovic remains the forerunner and great surgeon who readily admits the limitations of his techniques: 'The surgical operative treatment is only partly adequate and, unfortunately, despite the correctly performed operation, often does not lead to the desired result'.
Download or read book Practical Handbook for Small Gauge Vitrectomy written by Ulrich Spandau and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-22 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since publication of the first edition of this book in 2012 vitreoretinal surgery has marched with huge steps forward. In 2012 23G was standard, today 25G and 27G are the most commonly used gauge sizes for vitrectomy. In 2012 the cutting rate was 5.000 cuts/min and today with the development of a novel vitreous cutter the cutting rate has increased to 16.000 cuts/min. The advent of 25G/27G made the instruments smaller and surgery less traumatic. Practical Handbook for Small-Gauge Vitrectomy: A Step-By-Step Introduction to Surgical Techniques, 2ndEdition focuses on these new developments and features new chapters on PVR detachment, intraocular tumour, macular translocation, sub macular hemorrhages and ocular trauma. The surgeries are demonstrated step-by-step and the material is shown in detail and videos visualize the surgery. This book will serve as an immensely useful guide for all surgeons who are intending to make use of this exciting and increasingly used technique.

Download or read book Stereo Atlas of Vitreoretinal Diseases written by Hanyi Min and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-04 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces up-to-date knowledge of vitreal and retinal diseases with color fundus illustrations. The retinal layers of different lesions normally look like a single plane for junior doctors in Ophthalmology. With the help of the fundus camera, the stereo color images with different shooting angles are taken and the retina looks vivid and stereoscopic in the photograph. Although the technology of "deciphering" retina diseases is constantly advancing, the stereo fundus photography (SFP) is still indispensable, which can not only reveals the retina stereoscopically and comprehensively, but also has been the gold standard for certain diseases, such as glaucoma and retina angiomatous proliferation (RAP). Meanwhile, the equipment demands for SFP are not so high and can be easily promoted in the grass-roots hospitals. In this book, we carefully collected and organized more than 300 stereo color fundus images and angiography pictures of various vitreal and retinal diseases for readers to recognize the three dimensional features at first glance, such as retinal bleeding at different layers, optic disc change of glaucoma, macular diseases, tumors, RAP and polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV).
