Book Restoring the Biblical Christ

Download or read book Restoring the Biblical Christ written by Jason Kerrigan and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-18 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Accurately defining the correlation of God and Jesus has been described in our modern day as "beyond the reason of man" and "unable to be explained." Such conclusions are not necessary, however, and when you finish this book you will see that the Biblical teaching concerning God and Jesus is actually very logical. There is one God, the Father. Jesus is the Son of God. Yet, that simple truth leaves many questions to be answered, like Why was Jesus worshiped? Why is the Word called God in John 1:1? What did Jesus mean when he said, "Before Abraham was, I am"? etc. What did the earliest Christians believe about Jesus? All of these questions and more are addressed here. One reviewer wrote: "What this book is not is mimetic and unthinking: it is just well-researched, well-cited, eloquently argued, and uncompromisingly Biblical in its orientation. Kerrigan goes where few tread, not for the sake of argument, but for the sake of truth. What you see time and time again is that the Biblical godhead teaching is plainer than what the theologians have been making it." Short Description Accurately defining the correlation of God and Jesus has been described in our modern day as "beyond the reason of man" and "unable to be explained." Such conclusions are not necessary, however, and when you finish this book you will see that the Biblical teaching concerning God and Jesus is actually very logical.

Book Restoring Christ Leaving Mormon Jesus for Jesus of the Gospels

Download or read book Restoring Christ Leaving Mormon Jesus for Jesus of the Gospels written by Grant H. Palmer and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-18 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have come to greatly prefer the Jesus of the Gospels over the Jesus of Mormonism. This book is an exploration of the foundations of my journey, and what I have chosen to believe, what I hope others might consider. I write on Christianity and I write on Mormonism, with the hope that struggling Latter-day Saints can find a way forward with Christ as their foundation. Looking at both Christianity and Mormonism, my intent is to lift the baby from the bathwater, to restore the Savior, with no desire to save the Jesus of Mormonism. Joseph Smith's Restoration has grave problems. He went astray in my view, because he went beyond the footprint of Jesus' teachings--committing the same mistake he claimed others had made. I suppose this book is a Restoration-type endeav∨ an effort to rediscover what is most basic, most important. How ironic to seek to restore the Christ of the Gospels from Mormonism! So what does a Latter-day Saint do when they discover that the church narrative they were taught all their life has fallen apart? For me, the "revelations" of Mormon Jesus and their practice by Joseph Smith--as especially seen in chapters 9, 17-19--is radically different from the behavior, character and personality of Jesus of Nazareth. For example, Smith produced "scriptures" which depended on nineteenth-century sources, claiming them to be ancient. He initiated a secret "spiritual wife system" which included concubines and slandered women who resisted his sexual advances. He married young teenagers and other men's wives. He cursed his enemies and set up a secret organization, had himself ordained king and sought to violently overthrow the Nation. Comparing the two portraits has been the single most cathartic event since my crisis of faith. I find the Jesus of the Gospels to better reflect God's nature and love, and thus how to clearly respond to others as a disciple.

Book Restoring a Fallen Christian

Download or read book Restoring a Fallen Christian written by Greg S Baker and published by . This book was released on 2021-03-29 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Greg S. Baker delivers a poignant and thought-provoking examination of the depth and struggles of a fallen Christian and the effort needed to help restore them back to the loving embrace of Jesus Christ. There has been much written on winning the lost to Christ, but very little focuses on those who have fallen away from Christ--and how to get them back. Restoring a Fallen Christian fills a gaping hole in Christian literature. The principles come straight from Scripture to provide insightful, practical, and thorough instructions to help bring someone back to Jesus Christ. We hear of tragic stories everyday of Christians who have fallen away, but the effort in bringing them back have become a hurdle for the church and a challenge for every believer. In many cases, these fallen Christians can and want to come back. Often, though, we don't know where to start or how to proceed in helping them be restored--and that is the point of this book. We are commanded to restore those who have fallen away. Greg S. Baker uses his experiences as a pastor and counselor to shed light on this sensitive subject. People fall away for many reasons, and he tackles most of them to provide the widest range of tools available to the Restorer. This book is a must-have for every Christian. If you don't need it now, there may come a time when you do.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing Christ Back is a priceless and practical theology desperately needed by the modern church to drag it out of its doldrums—far too many of its “average” believers are finding no release from agonizing chains of sin. Its knife-edged message is that the powerful presence of Christ seems to be withdrawn from the church as crucial truths about our Lord are reduced to common platitudes. When Christ is brought back as the center of faith in fact, not just in theory, believers will experience his deliverance from sin through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Offering up-to-date interaction with the latest discussions about Jesus, the second edition has been substantially revised and updated throughout and includes three new chapters on how we got the Gospels.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus Manifesto presents a fresh unveiling of Jesus, seeking to restore the supremacy and sovereignty of Christ in a world—and a church—that has lost sight of Him. Christians have made the gospel about so many things—things other than Christ. Religious concepts, ideas, doctrines, strategies, and methods that begin to eclipse the beauty, the glory, and the reality of the Lord Jesus Himself. We know a lot about our Lord, but we don't know Him very well. We know a lot about trying to be like Jesus, but very little about living by His indwelling life. Jesus Manifesto provides clarity on the most important points of our faith. It is a prophetic call to restore the supremacy and sovereignty of Christ in a world and church that has lost sight of Him. This manifesto emphasizes ten crucial areas of restoring the supremacy of Jesus Christ, noting: Christians don’t follow Christianity; they follow Christ Christians don't proclaim themselves; they proclaim Christ Christians don’t point people to core values; they point people to the Cross Christians don't preach about Christ; they preach Christ Read this book to see your Lord like you've never seen Him before and restore the sovereignty of Jesus in your life.

Book Restoring the Restoration Movement

Download or read book Restoring the Restoration Movement written by N. R. Kehn and published by Xulon Press. This book was released on 2009 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Churches of Christ and Christian Churches comprise two of the principle fellowships to evolve from the American Restoration Movement-a movement fueled by the desire to abolish denominational borders and boundaries that have long divided the Christian community in hopes of building a brotherhood inclusive of all genuine followers of Jesus Christ. Nearly two centuries later, however, many within these two fellowships have abandoned the work of restoration and the hope of a united Christian fellowship. In Restoring the Restoration Movement, authors N.R. Kehn and Scott Bayles, with clever insight and a conversational tone, take a look "under the hood" at many of the doctrines that have divided the Churches of Christ and Christian Churches from each other and from mainstream evangelical Christianity in general-all in hopes of returning to the on-going work of restoration and to the original ideals of the Restoration Movement and true Biblical Christianity. N.R. Kehn has been a longtime member of Churches of Christ. With a secular degree in Network Administration and ongoing education in Software Engineering, Nathan combines impeccable logic with diligent Bible study. He currently serves in various capacities at the Florissant Church of Christ in Saint Louis, MO, where he also resides with his two sons, Nathan II and D.W. Scott Bayles is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University and has preached for numerous Churches of Christ within the United States and abroad. He is also the author of The Greatest Commands: Learning to Love like Jesus. Currently, he serves as the preaching minister for First Christian Church of Rosiclare, IL, where he lives with his wife and two children.

Book Restoring Our Christian Foundations Restoring the Ancient Biblical Foundations of the Christian Faith

Download or read book Restoring Our Christian Foundations Restoring the Ancient Biblical Foundations of the Christian Faith written by Fred D. Hofeldt M.D. and published by America Star Books. This book was released on 2010-04-12 with total page 331 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Storm clouds are on the horizon and are hovering over the Judeo-Christian community. Returning to God’s Word is our only hope for these troubled times. On the cusp of these changing times, a remnant is being identified and “called out” by the Holy Spirit to return to the foundational roots of Christianity. The First Century Church of Jesus’ Apostles was vastly different from the church of today. Their foundational strength was built upon the Rock of Jesus Christ and was founded upon the Biblical (Hebrew/Jewish) customs of Jesus Christ and His disciples. This book is a basic handbook—a “101 Primer”—for reconciliation and restoration. Its exposure to the rich Hebraic customs and traditions of Jesus’ day will bring a refreshing breath to traditional Christianity. It’s a call to return to “the faith once delivered to the saints,” to prepare for eternity in God’s city, the New Jerusalem.
