It is only those who are truly serious in their relationship about walking with God that can endure; even the elect of God must fight to stand. Those who are involved with Christianity as a mere religion often do not understand much of these satanic onslaughts; Satan does not care about those who enjoy form of religion , religious traditions nor is he concern about religious ceremonies; rather Satan's battle is against mainly those who have authentic relationship with Christ; these are the ones he consider dangerous. There are millions of people in the Church who do not believe in the existence of a real devil; some call the devil a negative energy or influence. There are also many learned theologians and bible scholars that only intellectualize and rationalize the existence of the person of Satan and his demons too; but these are the kind of people who are already being controlled by Satan. However, even among bible scholar and theologians, who have had a true encounter with Christ, that believe Satan as a real enemy and spiritual evil entity. Satan's war is against Israel, the church and the true believers; he is not against legislation of gay right, nor is he against gun control and drug trafficking as all these are now prevalent in the world that we live today. Furthermore, Satan is neither against prostitution nor multi-billion dollars pornographic industry; the devil does not consider murderers, pimps, and all kinds of criminals as dangerous people; rather it is the Church and the believers that he considers the real enemy. The devil hates believers who preach and teaches the truth from the bible; rather those who stand for the truth are the devil's target for slandering and attack. The devil hates those who uphold justice in the light of the truth. He hates those who are serious about worshipping the true and living God; he wills everything to stop those who have given themselves to prayers, intercession and evangelism. The devil is fighting true traditional marriage; the marriage between a man and woman is often considered the bible accepted marriage. Moreover, the devil is at peace with people who are considered as an inclusive Sometimes people see inclusiveness as compromise of our Christian standard but true believers can't compromise God's word. The devil's plan is to keep the false Church, destroy the true living church, promote the false prophets and his army of antichrists agents. This should be the hour of decision and for believer who may want to become a true change agent in the next move of God. Those who want to bring make a difference can no longer stand in twilight zone; there are no twilight zone in Christ. People who want to follow God in these end time must deicide to be in the light and in the light of Christ only. The lukewarm may not make it; they will not be able engage challenges of spiritual warfare and unless they take the gospel serious. When Christians are enticed by the devil, they are pulled away from God by honors, profits, pleasures, or whatever other things the devil uses to hinder their profiting by the Word, (Luke 8:12). These wicked spirits have such a heinous effect on the world, that the same condemnation that will befall them, will befall those who follow them. The proud fall into the condemnation of the devil, that is, by means of pride and high mindedness they too will be cast into hell fire, in the same manner as the devil will be. In consideration of such vile and wicked practices following the devil and his practices, Gifford directs the reader to resist such assaults and submit before God with the weapon of steadfast faith. His text is a famous one, “Be sober and watch: for your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: whom resist steadfast in the faith,” (1 Peter 5:8-9). Gifford expounds on how the Apostle Peter, 1) begins with an admonition or exhortation by which he stirs up all the faithful to sobriety and watchfulness with these words, “Be sober and watch,” 2) why it is important to move all men into this position of sobriety and watchfulness, seeing they have such a terrible and cruel adversary who continually seeks their eternal misery and destruction, “For your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” And, 3) teaching how Christians shall withstand him, overcome him, and put him to flight, that so they may escape from his cruel tyranny, “Whom resist steadfast in the faith.” This is an exceedingly helpful work, that will arm the Christian in due manner to fight steadfastly in the power of Jesus Christ through his Spirit against the works and wiles of the devil. And Gifford will not only show how to do this, but how to do it effectively, with victory, through true Christian faith empowered by God’s Christ.
