Book Research to Develop Microwave Acoustic Surface Wave Delay Lines

Download or read book Research to Develop Microwave Acoustic Surface Wave Delay Lines written by Donald B. Armstrong and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The report presents the results of work on a contract for research in the design and fabrication of microwave acoustic surface wave delay lines. Delay lines were made using a variety of substrate materials, including lithium niobate, lithium tantalate, bismuth germanium oxide, and quartz, with center frequencies as high as 1130 MHz. Special delay lines were delivered which had transducers that were designed to have specified bandpass characteristics and minimum ripple in the frequency response. In one instance, match to the required shape as close as 0.04 dB was obtained for the frequency region within the 3 dB bandwidth. The salient features of the optical fabrication process for producing transducers with line widths as small as 0.7 micrometer are included in the description of the delay line fabrication procedure. Book UHF and Microwave Frequency Acoustic Surface Wave Delay Lines

Download or read book UHF and Microwave Frequency Acoustic Surface Wave Delay Lines written by Andrew J. Slobodnik and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Small, lightweight, reliable, low cost acoustic surface wave delay lines are particularly useful in a variety of military applications including electronic sensing and communications. The purpose of the report is to provide detailed comprehensive procedures and theories for the optimum design of UHF and microwave frequency acoustic surface wave delay lines consisting of two identical, periodic, uniform width, interdigital transducers. The circuit model used to characterize device performance as a function of frequency includes a lossy tuning inductor, finite resistivity transducer fingers, and parasitic shunt capacitance. Surface wave propagation loss is also included. (Modified author abstract).

Book Microwave Frequency Surface Wave Delay Lines and Amplifiers

Download or read book Microwave Frequency Surface Wave Delay Lines and Amplifiers written by K. M. Lakin and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report details the research done on a four-year project involving the study of surface wave propagation and the growth and characterization of thin film materials as applied to microwave frequency surface acoustic wave delay lines and amplifiers. The report covers the two phases of the work separately in the form of a brief review of each topic referring to details contained in appendices. The report presents the complete details of the layered and leaky wave study along with the FORTRAN object listings of the major computer programs used in the study. The report presents the materials work in the form of reprints of published papers covering the topics of the growth and characterization of AlN/Al2O3 and Si/AlN/Al2O3. A brief discussion is given of other material combinations that were examined briefly and then abandoned in favor of more promising approaches. The report does not discuss devices such as delay line filters or amplifiers except as used to evaluate materials through coupling coefficient measurements or verification of acoustoelectric interactions. Book Microwave Acoustic and Bulk Device Technique Studies

Download or read book Microwave Acoustic and Bulk Device Technique Studies written by and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The final report describes device research in both linear and nonlinear acoustic devices for signal processing. Wideband, monolithic surface-acoustic-wave convolvers have been developed, based on nonlinear interaction between surface acoustic waves and conduction electrons in zinc oxide film on sapphire structures, achieving new ranges of conversion efficiency. A high speed 8-bit analog-to-digital converter has been developed, using a heretofore unused property of linear surface acoustic wave delay lines, which has potential for multichannel parallel processing with large data throughput. Book Microwave Acoustic Surface Wave Delay Lines

Download or read book Microwave Acoustic Surface Wave Delay Lines written by Edward D. Wolf and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The final report contains a description of the electron beam microfabrication, transducer and matching circuit design, and packaging and testing (in certain cases) of 24 acoustic surface wave devices, including delay lines, filters and test structures. Electrode widths were varies from 0.45 to 3.0 micrometers; electrodes per transducer ranged from 7 to 274; transducers per crystal went as high as 6; and the substrates included lithium niobate, lithium tantalate, bismuth germanium oxide and quartz. A major portion of this program was the design, fabrication and evaluation of a particular bandpass filter. A set of conclusions are presented with general applicability. (Author).

Book Investigation to Improve Microwave Acoustic Delay Lines

Download or read book Investigation to Improve Microwave Acoustic Delay Lines written by John DE Klerk and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: X-band cavities for shear wave generation with thin film piezoelectric transducers are described. Methods of Rayleigh and Love elastic surface generation on bulk quartz and thin films of CdS and ZnS are discussed. Attenuation measurements as a function of temperature and frequency are given. Contrary to published theoretical predictions, the attenuation of Rayleigh waves on quartz is found to be independent of frequency in the three phonon interaction temperature range. Velocity dispersion of Rayleigh waves in ZnS films on Al2O3 has been observed. Acoustic amplification of surface waves was investigated but not observed. Prototype surface wave directional couplers were fabricated and found to operate over a limited frequency range. (Author).

Book Large Time Bandwidth Product Microwave Delay Line

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the program is to develop a large time-bandwidth product tapped delay line employing acoustic surface waves at microwave frequencies. The essential components of this device include tuned interdigital transducers, surface wave amplifiers and air gap couplers all operating at a center frequency of 1.0 GHz. The report describes achievements in each development area and includes measured data for a five tap 30 microsec long surface wave delay line. (Author).
