Book Research on Polycrystalline Thin film Submodules Based on CuInSe2 Materials

Download or read book Research on Polycrystalline Thin film Submodules Based on CuInSe2 Materials written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes work performed by Solarex Corporation to enter i nto the development of CIS-based photovoltaic (PV) products. The activity began with developing manufacturable deposition methods for all required thin-film layers and developing and understanding processes using those methods. It included demonstrating the potential for high conversion efficiency and followed with developing viable methods for module segment formation and interconnection. These process steps were integrated to fabricate monolithic CIS-based submodules. An important result of this program is the basis of understanding established i n developing this material for PV applications ... This program also allowed development and scale-up of processes for the deposition of all other substrate, heterojunction buffer, and window layers and associated scribing/module formation operations to 1 000-cm2 size. At the completion of this program, Solarex has in place most of the necessary elements to begin the transition to pilot operation of CIS manufacturing activities.

Download or read book Research on Polycrystalline Thin Film Submodules Based on CuInSe Sub 2 Materials written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes progress during the first year of a three-year research program to develop 12%-efficient CuInSe2 (CIS) submodules with area greater than 900 cm2. To meet this objective, the program was divided into five tasks: (1) windows, contacts, substrates; (2) absorber material; (3) device structure; (4) submodule design and encapsulation; and (5) process optimization. In the first year of the program, work was concentrated on the first three tasks with an objective to demonstrate a 9%-efficient CIS solar cell. 7 refs.

Book Fundamentals of Polycrystalline Thin Film Materials and Devices

Download or read book Fundamentals of Polycrystalline Thin Film Materials and Devices written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents the results of a one-year research program on polycrystalline thin-film solar cells. The research was conducted to better understand the limitations and potential of solar cells using CuInSe2 and CdTe by systematically investigating the fundamental relationships linking material processing, material properties, and device behavior. By selenizing Cu and In layers, we fabricated device-quality CuInSe2 thin films and demonstrated a CuInSe2 solar cell with 7% efficiency. We added Ga, to increase the band gap of CuInSe2 devices to increase the open-circuit voltage to 0.55 V. We fabricated and analyzed Cu(InGa)Se2/CuInSe2 devices to demonstrate the potential for combining the benefits of higher V{sub oc} while retaining the current-generating capacity of CuInSe2. We fabricated an innovative superstrate device design with more than 5% efficiency, as well as a bifacial spectral-response technique for determining the electron diffusion length and optical absorption coefficient of CuInSe2 in an operational cell. The diffusion length was found to be greater than 1?m. We qualitatively modeled the effect of reducing heat treatments in hydrogen and oxidizing treatments in air on the I-V behavior of CuInSe2 devices. We also investigated post-deposition heat treatments and chemical processing and used them to fabricate a 9.6%-efficient CdTe/CdS solar cell using physical vapor deposition.

Book Tenth E C Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference

Download or read book Tenth E C Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference written by A. Luque and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1437 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have great pleasure in presenting the Proceedings of the 10th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference held in Lisbon from 8 to 12 April 1991. These Proceedings contain all the scientific papers delivered at the Conference. The following is a short summary of the Conference activities. The Conference was opened by the Minister of Industry and Energy of Portugal, Eng. Luis Mira do Amaral. At the opening ceremony the Becquerel Prize, created by the Commission of the European Communities, was awarded to Professor Werner Bloss of the University of Stuttgart, and presented by Professor Philippe Bourdeau, Director at the Directorate-General for Science, Research and Development. The Becquerellecture delivered by Professor Bloss constituted the scientific opening to the conference. About 760 delegates from 53 countries presented around 350 contributions, 50 of them as plenary lectures; the contributions were selected among the many papers submitted, this time more strictly than ever before. Also a selected group of scientists were invited to deliver 15 review lectures, to provide an adequate context to the contributions to the Conference. A Symposium on Photovoltaics in Developing Countries, which was very well attended, took place as a parallel event. The Symposium provided an opportunity to hear not only experts of the industrialized countries, but also speakers from the countries where photovoltaics provides services of paramount value.
