Book Modeling and Control of Hybrid Propulsion System for Ground Vehicles

Download or read book Modeling and Control of Hybrid Propulsion System for Ground Vehicles written by Yuan Zou and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-02 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the systematic design of architectures, parameters and control of typical hybrid propulsion systems for wheeled and tracked vehicles based on a combination of theoretical research and engineering practice. Adopting a mechatronic system dynamics perspective, principles and methods from the fields of optimal control and system optimization are applied in order to analyze the hybrid propulsion configuration and controller design. Case investigations for typical hybrid propulsion systems of wheeled and tracked ground vehicles are also provided.

Book Operationally Efficient Propulsion System Study Oepss Data Book Volume 2

Download or read book Operationally Efficient Propulsion System Study Oepss Data Book Volume 2 written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-18 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Operations problems and cost drivers were identified for current propulsion systems and design and technology approaches were identified to increase the operational efficiency and to reduce operations costs for future propulsion systems. To provide readily usable data for the ALS program, the results of the OEPSS study were organized into a series of OEPSS Data Books. This volume presents a detailed description of 25 major problems encountered during launch processing of current expendable and reusable launch vehicles. A concise description of each problem and its operational impact on launch processing is presented, along with potential solutions and technology recommendation. Waldrop, Glen S. Unspecified Center PROPULSION SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS; PROPULSION SYSTEM PERFORMANCE; REUSABLE LAUNCH VEHICLES; SPACECRAFT LAUNCHING; SPACECRAFT PROPULSION; COST ANALYSIS; COST REDUCTION; EXPENDABLE STAGES (SPACECRAFT); GROUND OPERATIONAL SUPPORT SYSTEM; SPACE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM; SYSTEMS ENGINEERING...

Book Reusable Launch Vehicle

    Book Details:
  • Author : Committee on Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology and Test Program
  • Publisher : National Academies Press
  • Release : 1996-01-22
  • ISBN : 0309588960
  • Pages : 99 pages

Download or read book Reusable Launch Vehicle written by Committee on Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology and Test Program and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1996-01-22 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The key to opening the use of space to private enterprise and to broader public uses lies in reducing the cost of the transportation to space. More routine, affordable access to space will entail aircraft-like quick turnaround and reliable operations. Currently, the space Shuttle is the only reusable launch vehicle, and even parts of it are expendable while other parts require frequent and extensive refurbishment. NASA's highest priority new activity, the Reusable Launch Vehicle program, is directed toward developing technologies to enable a new generation of space launchers, perhaps but not necessarily with single stage to orbit capability. This book assesses whether the technology development, test and analysis programs in propulsion and materials-related technologies are properly constituted to provide the information required to support a December 1996 decision to build the X-33, a technology demonstrator vehicle; and suggest, as appropriate, necessary changes in these programs to ensure that they will support vehicle feasibility goals.

Book Commercial Aircraft Propulsion and Energy Systems Research

Download or read book Commercial Aircraft Propulsion and Energy Systems Research written by National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The primary human activities that release carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere are the combustion of fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and oil) to generate electricity, the provision of energy for transportation, and as a consequence of some industrial processes. Although aviation CO2 emissions only make up approximately 2.0 to 2.5 percent of total global annual CO2 emissions, research to reduce CO2 emissions is urgent because (1) such reductions may be legislated even as commercial air travel grows, (2) because it takes new technology a long time to propagate into and through the aviation fleet, and (3) because of the ongoing impact of global CO2 emissions. Commercial Aircraft Propulsion and Energy Systems Research develops a national research agenda for reducing CO2 emissions from commercial aviation. This report focuses on propulsion and energy technologies for reducing carbon emissions from large, commercial aircraftâ€" single-aisle and twin-aisle aircraft that carry 100 or more passengersâ€"because such aircraft account for more than 90 percent of global emissions from commercial aircraft. Moreover, while smaller aircraft also emit CO2, they make only a minor contribution to global emissions, and many technologies that reduce CO2 emissions for large aircraft also apply to smaller aircraft. As commercial aviation continues to grow in terms of revenue-passenger miles and cargo ton miles, CO2 emissions are expected to increase. To reduce the contribution of aviation to climate change, it is essential to improve the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to reduce emissions and initiate research into new approaches.
