This book was released on 2005 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This memoir completes the series of papers beginning with [KL1,KL2], showing that, for a commutative noetherian ring $\Lambda$, either the category of $\Lambda$-modules of finite length has wild representation type or else we can describe the category of finitely generated $\Lambda$-modules, including their direct-sum relations and local-global relations. (There is a possible exception to our results, involving characteristic 2.)

Book excerpt: By a quantum metric space we mean a $C DEGREES*$-algebra (or more generally an order-unit space) equipped with a generalization of the usual Lipschitz seminorm on functions which one associates to an ordinary metric. Book excerpt: Intends to complete the determination of the maximal subgroups of positive dimension in simple algebraic groups of exceptional type over algebraically closed fields. This title follows work of Dynkin, who solved the problem in characteristic zero, and Seitz who did likewise over fields whose characteristic is not too small.
Download or read book The Complex Monge Ampere Equation and Pluripotential Theory written by Sławomir Kołodziej and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2005 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We collect here results on the existence and stability of weak solutions of complex Monge-Ampere equation proved by applying pluripotential theory methods and obtained in past three decades. First we set the stage introducing basic concepts and theorems of pluripotential theory. Then the Dirichlet problem for the complex Monge-Ampere equation is studied. The main goal is to give possibly detailed description of the nonnegative Borel measures which on the right hand side of the equation give rise to plurisubharmonic solutions satisfying additional requirements such as continuity, boundedness or some weaker ones. In the last part, the methods of pluripotential theory are implemented to prove the existence and stability of weak solutions of the complex Monge-Ampere equation on compact Kahler manifolds. This is a generalization of the Calabi-Yau theorem.

A Generating Function Approach to the Enumeration of Matrices in Classical Groups over Finite Fields
Download or read book A Generating Function Approach to the Enumeration of Matrices in Classical Groups over Finite Fields written by Jason Fulman and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2005 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Generating function techniques are used to study the probability that an element of a classical group defined over a finite field is separable, cyclic, semisimple or regular. The limits of these probabilities as the dimension tends to infinity are calculated in all cases, and exponential convergence to the limit is proved. These results complement and extend earlier results of the authors, G. E. Wall, and Guralnick & Lubeck.

Download or read book Radon Transforms Geometry and Wavelets written by Gestur Ólafsson and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2008 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on two special sessions held at the AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans in January 2007, and a satellite workshop held in Baton Rouge on January 4-5, 2007. It consists of invited expositions that together represent a broad spectrum of fields, stressing surprising interactions and connections between areas that are normally thought of as disparate. The main topics are geometry and integral transforms. On the one side are harmonic analysis, symmetric spaces, representation theory (the groups include continuous and discrete, finite and infinite, compact and non-compact), operator theory, PDE, and mathematical probability. Moving in the applied direction we encounter wavelets, fractals, and engineering topics such as frames and signal and image processing. The subjects covered in this book form a unified whole, and they stand at the crossroads of pure and applied mathematics. The articles cover a broad range in harmonic analysis, with the main themes related to integral geometry, the Radon transform, wavelets and frame theory. These themes can loosely be grouped together as follows:Frame Theory and ApplicationsHarmonic Analysis and Function SpacesHarmonic Analysis and Number TheoryIntegral Geometry and Radon TransformsMultiresolution Analysis, Wavelets, and Applications
