Book FAMILY LAW NON MUSLIM IN MALAYSIA SECOND EDITION IIUM PRESS

Download or read book FAMILY LAW NON MUSLIM IN MALAYSIA SECOND EDITION IIUM PRESS written by Norliah Ibrahim and published by IIUM PRESS. This book was released on 2024-01-04 with total page 556 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of Family Law (Non-Muslims) in Malaysia is generally an improved version from the. first edition which was published ten years ago and heavily referred to by law students as a textbook. It discusses the substantive family laws related to the non-Muslims in Malaysia which are based on the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976- an􀀉 several other supplementary statutes. Besides updating the previous chapters on family law matters, the book updates the global concern on the appropriate law when dealing with family related disputes in the 21st century. The new topics on reconciliation and mediation are incorporated to emphasise the need for therapeutic intervention when dealing with personal relationships and encourage kindness even in the most difficult of circumstances which can have significant longer-term consequences and lead to higher levels of considerate behaviour. The philosophy of family, love and kindness must be well embraced by family law lawyers, judges and administrators of family law in the adjudication process. The book is jointly authored by family law lecturers at the Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia. It will benefit not only students, academics and practitioners, but also those in the legal fraternity and those who have interest in non-Muslims' family law in Malaysia. Finally, this book could not have been published without a great deal of help and encouragement from many sources.

Download or read book Islam and English Law written by Robin Griffith-Jones and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2013-04-11 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams triggered a storm of protest when he suggested that some accommodation between British law and Islam's shari'a law was 'inevitable'. His foundational lecture introduced a series of public discussions on Islam and English Law at the Royal Courts of Justice and the Temple Church in London. This volume combines developed versions of these discussions with new contributions. Theologians, lawyers and sociologists look back on developments since the Archbishop spoke and forwards along trajectories opened by the historic lecture. The contributors provide and advocate a forward-looking dialogue, asking how the rights of all citizens are honoured and their responsibilities met. Twenty specialists explore the evolution of English law, the implications of Islam, shari'a and jihad and the principles of the European Convention on Human Rights, family law and freedom of speech. This book is for anyone interested in the interaction between religion and secular society.

Book The International Survey of Family Law

Download or read book The International Survey of Family Law written by Andrew Bainham and published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers. This book was released on 1998-02-05 with total page 542 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The "International Survey of Family Law," published on behalf of the International Society of Family Law, is the successor to the Annual Survey of Family Law'. It provides information, analysis and comment on recent developments in Family Law across the world on a country-by- country basis. The "Survey" is published annually and its subtitle reflects the calendar year surveyed. Where a country has been regularly surveyed each year, the developments discussed correspond to the year in question. If certain countries have not been surveyed for some years the contributions will usually attempt to cover the intervening period. This applies, for example, in the present volume to the contributions relating to China and Turkey. If countries are being covered for the first time, then more background information will be provided about the state of family law in the country in question. The "Survey" also contains an article dealing with the more significant developments in international law affecting the family.
