Reconnu officiellement comme une action de formation continue par les onze pays actuellement engagés, le dispositif s’appuie sur un programme de formation hybride, conçu sur mesure par des experts nationaux, internationaux, chercheurs universitaires ou responsables éducatifs. L’objectif de cette publication est résolument tourné vers une mise en perspective scientifique des réflexions conduites durant la mise en œuvre de l’Initiative, les résultats, les pistes d’évolution. Les auteurs, tous impliqués dans ces actions de mise en œuvre, interrogent et rendent compte de leurs expériences et travaux de recherche à travers trois grands volets: les questions linguistiques et didactiques, les modalités d’accompagnement et les approches technologiques. Ces thématiques, et les interrogations qui en découlent, témoignent de la diversité culturelle et scientifique qui les initie et les soutient, au cœur des enjeux de mutation rapide de la formation initiale et continue des enseignants.

Cet ouvrage retrace l’évolution de cette Initiative et souligne son impact en matière de formation continue des maîtres en Francophonie. Il a également l’ambition de confronter IFADEM à d’autres approches en matière de formation des maîtres, afin de permettre au lecteur de mieux appréhender les perspectives tracées pour son avenir à court et moyen terme.

Voilà une perspective qui est, ici, très largement documentée et illustrée de nombreuses études de cas. On découvrira, par exemple, à quel point les rituels d’entrée dans la classe sont déterminants : faut-il obtenir l’ordre pour mettre les élèves au travail ou mettre les élèves au travail pour obtenir l’ordre ? Question qui n’a rien de simpliste et face à laquelle l’expertise des chercheurs, des collègues mais aussi des élèves peut beaucoup nous apprendre... Et nous permettre d’avancer, sur ce point comme sur bien d’autres, vers un métier d’enseignant qui conjugue ambition politique, éthique professionnelle et compétences techniques.

Pour quel bénéfice estimé, quelle réflexivité, quelle efficacité, en vertu de quels critères de validité ? Les chercheurs confrontent ici des analyses ancrées dans différents contextes, moins pour dessiner une formation continue idéale que pour identifier les orientations observables et les choix que ces orientations revendiquent ou dissimulent de facto, d’autant plus tant qu’elles ne sont pas questionnées.
