Download or read book Religious Rheumatism Classic Reprint written by J. B. Baker and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-12 with total page 230 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Religious Rheumatism Religious rheumatism, in its causes, manifesta tions and cures, is not unlike the rheumatism of the body. In fact, it affects the same organs that are affected by the physical malady. The only difference is the starting point. In physical rheumatism the disease travels from with out in, while in religious rheumatism it travels from within out. Out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornication, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. Book Oxford Textbook of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Download or read book Oxford Textbook of Rheumatoid Arthritis written by David L. Scott and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2020-09-18 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brand new textbook of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an important addition to the Oxford Textbooks in Rheumatology series, and provides a comprehensive overview of both the scientific and clinical aspects of the disease. Divided into eight sections - from the history, diagnosis, and epidemiology of the disease, through the pathogenesis, clinical presentation, and assessment to treatments and management strategies, both drug- and non-drug based - each chapter is written by leading clinicians and scientists in the field to deliver a contemporary view of RA. During the past two decades there have been revolutionary changes in the understanding and management of rheumatoid arthritis, in particular the development of biological treatments. This has had wide-ranging effects on almost all aspects of treatment, from effectiveness and intensity to the nature and the cost. Providing a comprehensive account of the modern ideas about the disease, the Oxford Textbook of Rheumatoid Arthritis is a key new addition to the literature, with each chapter providing a detailed background, key recent advances, and areas of doubt and future developments. Featuring over 170 photographs, radiological images, and clinical charts to aid both diagnosis and illustrate the rationale behind key scientific studies, this new title will prove an indispensable resource for specialist rheumatologists, trainees in rheumatology, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Book Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis

Download or read book Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis written by Bhaskar Dasgupta and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016-03-03 with total page 177 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) and giant cell arteritis (GCA) are related conditions occurring almost exclusively in older people. Polymyalgia rheumatica is considered to be the rheumatic disease that is subject to the widest variations of clinical practice, partially due to the considerable uncertainty related to diagnosis and outcomes. Giant cell arteritis, an inflammatory form of vasculitis, may present with a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations and can be complicated by acute ischemic events, the most serious of which is permanent blindness. Early recognition and adequate treatment of the condition is thus necessary to prevent patients' loss of independence and to maintain their quality of life. Part of the Oxford Rheumatology Library series, Polymyalgia Rheumatica and Giant Cell Arteritis provides quick and practically relevant information on several aspects of the diseases, particularly on diagnosis and management, with the ultimate aim of improving the patient's care. Chapters highlight current concepts of pathogenesis, recent advances of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches, and the ongoing research into the identification of new biomarkers and corticosteroid-sparing medications. Each chapter is complemented with key message boxes highlighting the most relevant information for clinical practice. This concise but comprehensive reference is particularly suited for rheumatologists, general practitioners, and other professionals caring for patients with PMR and GCA.

Book Psychological Aspects of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Download or read book Psychological Aspects of Rheumatoid Arthritis written by Mary L. Pritchard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 165 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main research described in this book is concerned with assessing the interrelationship of psychological adjustment, compliance with medical advice and use of unorthodox treatments in a sample of rheumatoid arthritic out-patients. Basically this research is comprised of four components: two pilot studies; the development and postal administration of an illness knowledge assessment questionnaire; and a 'follow-up' correlational study. pilot study 1, which involved interviews with 18 patients, was a 'question seeking' study - the aim being to develop research questions of relevance to the Subject sample. The findings of this study suggested that poor illness knowledge and consequent misconceptions was contributing to psychological distress and affecting health behaviour among patients. In pilot study 2 a sample of 17 patients were questioned in detail - but using open-ended questions - about their understanding of their condition and treatment. The results of this study supported the impression gained in pilot study 1, that patients were typically ill-informed about their illness and tended, in the absence of correct information, to overestimate "the risks associated with rheumatoid arthritis and underestimate the value of treatments.

Book Being Christian in Your Medical Practice

Download or read book Being Christian in Your Medical Practice written by Dr. Jim Halla and published by Ambassador International. This book was released on 2002-06-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being a doctor and going to the doctor are theological issues. A major thesis of the book is that a de-medicalization of physicians is necessary and should be replaced by a Scripto-centric approach to life in the practice of medicine. This call is radical, humanly speaking, but we have a God Who has given much to us as Christian physicians and expects much of us. There is a biblical view of the practice of medicine, and it is the major avenue that patients have for reaching true comfort and help. Each physician must be able to articulate it and the book is written for that purpose. A rightly understood biblical view of medicine is the only way that doctors have for giving genuine hope to hurting people and for the advancement of God s kingdom.
