Book Instructional Methodology and Experimental Design for Evaluating Audio video Support to Undergraduate Pilot Training

Download or read book Instructional Methodology and Experimental Design for Evaluating Audio video Support to Undergraduate Pilot Training written by and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents a detailed description of the methods by which airborne video recording will be utilized in the training of Air Force pilots, and presents plans for an assessment of its effectiveness. Audio/video equipment configurations and limitations are discussed as they apply to training operations in the T-37 and T-38 aircraft, and training methodology is described which has been formulated to permit the integration of video recording and teaching techniques into the Air Force undergraduate pilot training program. Plans for an eight-month experimental evaluation of the effects of these techniques are detailed, including schedules, operating practices, student selection procedures, instructor training plans, data gathering processes and materials, and analysis guidelines. Book Crew Resource Management

Download or read book Crew Resource Management written by Earl L. Wiener and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2010-01-20 with total page 525 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The new edition of Crew Resource Management continues to focus on CRM in the cockpit, but also emphasizes that the concepts and training applications provide generic guidance and lessons learned for a wide variety of "crews" in the aviation system as well as in the complex and high-risk operations of many non-aviation settings. Long considered the "bible" in this field, much of the basic style and structure of the previous edition of Crew Resource Management is retained in the new edition. Textbooks are often heavily supplemented with or replaced entirely by course packs in advanced courses in the aviation field, as it is essential to provide students with cutting edge information from academic researchers, government agencies (FAA), pilot associations, and technology (Boeing, ALION). This edited textbook offers ideal coverage with first-hand information from each of these perspectives. Case examples, which are particularly important given the dangers inherent in real world aviation scenarios, are liberally supplied. An image collection and test bank make this the only text on the market with ancillary support. New material includes: international and cultural aspects of CRM; design and implementation of Line-Oriented Flight Training (LOFT); airline applications beyond the cockpit; spaceflight resource management; non-aviation applications; AQP; LOSA; and special issues pertaining to low-cost airline carriers. The second edition editors offer essential breath of experience in aviation human factors from multiple perspectives (academia, government, and private enterprise) and the contributors have all been chosen as experts in their fields who represent the diversity of the research of activities and organisational experience of CRM. The only CRM text on the market offering an up-to-date synthesis of primary source material New edition thoroughly updated and revised to include major new findings, complete with discussion of the international and cultural aspects of CRM, the design and implementation of LOFT Instructor website with testbank and image collection Liberal use of case examples

Book Development and Validation of a Method of Evaluating the Effectiveness of Fighter Aircraft Simulation Force Cueing Devices

Download or read book Development and Validation of a Method of Evaluating the Effectiveness of Fighter Aircraft Simulation Force Cueing Devices written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report documents the study which developed a method for evaluating the effectiveness of various force cueing devices a flight simulator. The concept developed included measurement of pilot behavior, performance, physiology and subjective pilot opinion to evaluate system effectiveness. As a part of this study, a trial evaluation was conducted in a laboratory fighter simulator to validate the evaluation method including identifying which pilot behaviors could best be measured and how the data could be collected and analyzed. Five task scenarios were flown by experienced fighter pilots with and without the presence of force cueing. Control activity and vehicle state data were analyzed to examine the effects of force cueing on pilot performance and control behavior. A debriefing questionnaire was used to elicit the pilot's subjective evaluation. The results of the trial evaluation indicated that the presence of force cueing improved pilot performance, control behavior, and made the simulator more operationally realistic.
