Moore and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effect of a 9-month nutrition education and walking program on energy need, body composition, nutrient intake, nutritional status, aerobic fitness, and health risk factors was determined in 7 women with childhood-onset obesity (CO) and 8 women with adult-onset obesity (AO). Data were collected before and after the 9-month program while participants were on a 3-week controlled, weight-maintaining metabolic diet. Need for total calories increased by 2.9% for CO and 3.1% for AO from pre to post (p=.09) whereas calories for resting metabolic rate (RMR) decreased 3.6% for CO and 2.8% for AO (p.05). Body weight decreased from 98 ± 12 to 93 ± 7 kg in CO and from 93 ± 14 to 90 ± 15 kg in AO (p

Download or read book Perceived Self Esteem of Nursing Students with Obesity written by Agustin Grace Anne and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Obesity among adolescents and those 19 years and older has tripled for the past 30 years. The Philippines is one such country in the midst of a rapid shift in diet and physical activity patterns that are contributory to rise in obesity, hypertension and related problems. Although many studies have extensively discussed the relationship of obesity to perceived self-esteem of adolescents, there is still a lack of research regarding how obesity influence the self-esteem of nursing students. As future health care providers, they have a critical role to play in the effective implementation of healthy behaviors. As such, they too must develop an understanding and awareness of one's self and the multifactorial dimensions of their lives in the assumption of roles and responsibilities that may affect health and well-being.By determining the relationship between personal and socioeconomic profile of obese nursing students and their perceived self-esteem, the study would help to examine the psychological well-being of these individuals.

This book was released on 2011 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Purpose: The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between achievement self-esteem, self acceptance self-esteem and body composition in college women. Methods: One-hundred and fifty eight college women were recruited to participate in the study. Participants were healthy, between the age of 18 and 25 yrs, not taking medication that would alter metabolism, and able to participate in physical activity without restriction. As part of the study the participants filled out the Worth Index, which measured level of self-acceptance and achievement self-esteem. The questionnaire included four subscales: basic human worth, performance factor, personal security and appearance. Body composition was assessed using the BOD POD. Results: Participants in the study were 19.9 ± 1.7 yrs, had a BMI of 22.5 ± 3.2 kg/m2 and a percent body fat of 26.4 ± 6.4. Source of self-esteem was primarily self-acceptance self-esteem with participants on average scoring 65 ± 11 out of 84 (high moderate) compared to an achievement self-esteem score of 35 ± 10 out of 84 (low moderate). When evaluating the subscales a similar trend appears with the exception of the performance factor, which was more normally distributed. Achievement self-esteem in appearance was positively correlated to percent body fat (p
Download or read book Nutrient Intake and Physical Exercise as Modulators of Healthy Women written by Sílvia Rocha Rodrigu and published by Mdpi AG. This book was released on 2022-12-22 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cumulative evidence demonstrates that healthy nutrient intake and regular physical exercise are both powerful lifestyle strategies that modulate lifelong health through their ability to improve body composition, musculoskeletal health, sex steroid hormones, sleep quality, and physical and cognitive performance, as well as to prevent chronic diseases across the lifespan, especially in women. While the benefits of nutrition and physical exercise are commonly studied separately, the integration of nutrition and physical exercise has the potential to produce greater benefits in women than strategies focusing only on one or the other. Studying the specificities of women in response to interventions is of the utmost importance for providing optimal healthcare and aids the design of guidelines that are better suited for women. A better knowledge regarding nutrient intake and physical exercise and their interaction in women is therefore needed. This Special Issue entitled "nutrient intake and physical exercise as modulators of healthy women" will comprise manuscripts that highlight this integrational approach as a potential modulator of lifelong outcomes in women.
Download or read book CHANGES IN SELF EFFICACY PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND ADHERENCE IN OVERWEIGHT OR OBESE WOMEN PARTICIPATING IN A LIFE STYLE INTERVENTION A RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL written by Samera El Bakkali and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: BACKGROUND lifestyle interventions consisting of physical activity and/or diet are known to be essential for weight loss. Its implementation in the daily life of people with overweight or obesity is hindered by multiple barriers. To obtain successful behavioural change, it is recommended to take psychological factors and adherence to treatment programs into account when prescribing weight management programs. AIM this randomized controlled trial investigates the changes in psychological factors such as self-efficacy and adherence during a 6-month intervention program, consisting of dietary instructions and/or exercise. METHOD women with a BMI =27 kg/m2 are randomized in a diet or combination group, consisting of both diet and exercise. All participants receive a personal interview, based on the principles of motivational interviewing (MI), and by means of a questionnaire (S-weight) that determines the stages of change, the kind of motivation at baseline is reflected. Self-reported (general and exercise) self-efficacy and habitual physical activity are measured by questionnaires (General Self-Efficacy Scale, Exercise Self-Efficacy Scale and Baecke) at baseline, after 3 and 6 months intervention, as well as adherence by a numeric scale. Anthropometrical measurements such as body weight (kg), BMI (kg/m2), fat mass (%) and fat free mass (kg) are also investigated. A sensitivity analysis was also carried out including women with higher levels of adherence, whereby the same above mentioned was also analyzed. RESULTS in 54 women, changes in adherence, self-reported self-efficacy, physical activity, body weight and composition were assessed after 3 and 6 months intervention. No statistically significant differences were found between the diet and combination group for changes in adherence, anthropometrical and psychological outcomes after 3 and 6 months intervention (p > 0,05). However, significant changes were seen within each group after 6 months. In the diet group, there was a reduction in body weight of >5% (p \
