This sector has already been recognized as a significant industry for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of Bangladesh. However, managing private organizations has become very challenging due to highly competitive market and higher level of employee turnover especially in the private banking sector. It is observed that to attain the competitive advantage, private bank employees are undertaking heavy workload that leads to higher level of stress at work and is increasing turnover intention among the employees. This study has been designed to explore the factors that are accountable to create stress among the private bank employees in Bangladesh which are creating turnover intention among them. Hence, this study identified the relationships between job stress factors and the increase of turnover intentions among the bank employees in Bangladesh. A total of 206 bank employees at different levels of the banks were interviewed from ten private commercial banks of Bangladesh. A structured questionnaire was designed through literature review to collect the information from the respondent employees. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Multivariate analysis techniques were used to identify the work stress factors having influence on the turnover intention among the private bank employees in Bangladesh. Results show that there are four stress factors that increase the turnover tension among the private bank employees in Bangladesh such as, (i) long hours and fast work, (ii) clearness of goals and objectives of work, (iii) workload and change in mindset, and (iv) flexibility at work. This study suggests that the policymakers of the private commercial banks should address the issues like long hours and fast work, clearness of goals and objectives of work, workload and change in mindset and flexibility at work for reducing turnover intentions of the bank employees in Bangladesh.

Book excerpt: Job satisfaction and organizational commitment has become a significant issue for any organizations. The aim of the study was to measure the level of job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention based on the banking sector of Bangladesh. The study was based on some selected banks of the country. For collecting data, purposive sampling method was used. For analyzing data, multivariate analysis techniques like factor analysis and Smart PLS were used. Descriptive statistics were used for explaining data sources and the demographic characteristics of the respondents. Composite reliability (CR) values ranged from 0.838 to 0.914 which exceeded the recommended value of 0.70 and all Cronbach's alpha values are above 0.60 cutoff values. The R square values show that Organizational Commitment and Job Satisfaction moderately explain 42.4 % and 54.5 % of the variance in workers' turnover intention respectively. By using factor analysis, this study found that satisfactory promotional system, fair rewarding system, satisfactory payment level, experience and training based salary, support in personal emergency from the organization, planning to change the organization, workplace flexibility in performing tasks were most influential factors that have influence on job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention of Bank employees in Bangladesh. This study suggests that if workers are paid satisfactorily, where salary is experience and training based, and there is a support in personal emergency, then these variables will lead bank employees to a higher level of committed team and improved turnover rate simultaneously.

Almost all private banks of Bangladesh have superior formation with excellent benefits but employee turnover occurs regularly. There are some factors that influence employee to leave the organization. The purpose of this research is to analyze the factors that influence employee turnover in private banking sector in Bangladesh. Time period of this is from 01 March, 2015 to 31 May, 2015. A total of 16 variables responsible for influencing employee turnover are selected from related literature. Factor analysis has been conducted to reduce the number of total variables. Bartlett's test of Sphericity has been used along with the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) statistic. SPSS 16.0 has been used to analyze the data collected from primary sources through random sampling technique. This analysis reveals that tangible and intangible Compensation, physical stress out of organizational support, inconsistency of supervision and business status, underprovided hygiene factor, lack of proper training and development and transfer of jobs are the most important factors that may influence employee turnover. From this study the private banks of Bangladesh can get a clear view about the factors that may influence employee turnover of their respective organization in order to reduce turnover.

Book excerpt: This paper aims at identifying the relationship between emotional intelligence and turnover intentions of frontline bank employees in Bangladesh. The study also included leadership influence as a moderator to test how it influences the relationship between the two. The study has a valid sample size of 927 using convenience sampling technique. The results indicate that emotional intelligence has a positive and strong relationship with turnover intention, that is, employees with higher emotional intelligence have a higher turnover intention. The results also depict that higher leadership influence can have a strong influence on the relationship, that is, leaders with higher influence can reduce the turnover intention of the employees. The result of this empirical study is expected to be beneficial for those managers who want to retain their valuable, competent employees and for the academicians who wish to investigate further in the areas of emotional intelligence, turnover intention and leadership influence.

Current study tries to uncover the relationship among work overload, work ambiguity and supervisory support, and employee turnover intentions. The twelve companies are selected out of 23 totals so the findings can be generalized on this sector. A structured questionnaire was distributed among the sample that consisted of 412 employees of this sector. Quantitative techniques were used to measure the results and statistical analyses were applied to confirm the research hypothesis. The findings of this study suggest that there is a significant and positive relationship between job stressors and employees' turnover intention. The job factors, relationships at work, and career development opportunities have also impact on employees' turnover intention. The job stress has a positive and significant impact on employees' turnover intention. Considering the importance of employees' turnover intention and job stress in Pesticide sector, the researchers and administrator and policy makers should take necessary measures to increase the supervisory support at work, minimize the work overload and work ambiguity, and improve other job factors to decrease the employees' intention to leave the organization.

Employees working in different sectors and organizations have to deal with stress. Bank workers are among the group of workers under a great deal of stress due to many antecedents of stress. Stress contributes to decreased organizational performance, decreased employee overall performance, high error rate and poor quality of work, high staff turnover, and absenteeism due to health problems such as anxiety, emotional disorder; work life imbalance; depression and other forms of ailments such as frequent headache; obesity and cardiac arrests. This paper aims to examine the impact of job related stress on employee performance and job satisfaction. A sample of 150 employees from the Nigerian Bank industry of Nigeria was used for this survey. Components of job stress namely: Lack of administrative support; excessive work load and work demand; problematic customer relations; co-worker's relationship; family & work life balance and associated job risks were examined in this study. The objective of the study is to explore the stress related problems of bankers and examine the relationship between stress and performance and the impact of stress on employee performance. The results show that all these factors of stress cause great stress in Nigerian bankers and negatively impacts their performance. The findings of this study support the findings of a similar study on banking sector of Pakistan conducted by Usman Basher and Muhammad Ismail which showed that job stress significantly reduce the performance of an individual. Job stress is considered rising and has become challenge for the employer and because high level stress is results in low productivity, increased absenteeism and collection to other employee problems like alcoholism, drug abuse, hypertension and host of cardiovascular problems (Meneze 2005). Personality factors have shown inclination towards stress, anxiety, and other occupational health outcomes in different areas of medicine, and these factors may contribute to feelings of job dissatisfaction and stress (Michie and Williams 2003). Thus it was recommended that employer should proactively minimize stress by providing adequate administrative support to employees; Optimize work load, effectively manage customer expectations, minimize relationship and role conflict, deploy adequate reward system and provide adequate training and counseling to employees in order to improve their job performance and job satisfaction.

This study examines the relationship between job stress and job performance on bank employees of banking sector in Pakistan. The study tests the purpose model in relation of job stress and its impact on job performance by using (n=144) data of graduate, senior employees including managers and customers services officers of well reputed growing bank in Pakistan. The data obtained through questioners was analyzed by statistical test correlation and regression and reliabilities were also confirmed. The results are significant with negative correlation between job stress and job performances and shows that job stress significantly reduce the performance of an individual. The results suggest that organization should facilitate supportive culture within the working atmosphere of the organization.

It focuses on the relative importance of job satisfaction factors and their impacts on the overall job satisfaction of employees. In this study the targeted population is employees of Bank. The Banks include private and public Bank. The data was collected and administered by means of a structured questionnaire. The study showed that organizational factors such as work conditions, pay, fairness, and promotion significantly influenced employee job satisfaction in Bank. However, individual factors such as age and gender did not significantly influence employee job satisfaction in Banks. The overall job satisfaction of the bank officers is at the positive level appeal to their customers. In such situation, job satisfaction of bank officers becomes an important issue that has to be taken care of in order to achieve ultimate goals of the banking sector in Bangladesh.

To ensure sustainable growth of this large industry, the organizations have to recruit and retain their intellectual resources. In this age of highly volatile business environment, telecom companies of Bangladesh are continuously exposed by the job changing attitude of their valued employees. The employees are prone to switch their jobs to make their career advancements rather than focusing on the fundamental development of their organizations. They leave organizations for numerous reasons ranging from financial to personal ambition and in some case supervisor's behavior, organizational culture and the working environment. Hence, this paper aims at identifying the significant factors that influence employee turnover in telecom industry of Bangladesh. The purpose of the study is to identify the factors that lead to employee turnover in these organizations. To conduct this research, 206 telecom employees at different levels were selected from three largest telecom companies of Bangladesh and interviewed. The sampled companies are: Grameen Phone Ltd, Robi Axiata Ltd, Banglalink Digital Communications Ltd. A structured questionnaire was used to collect primary information which was scored according to the liker-scale. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used in analyzing data collected from survey. Multivariate analysis technique like factor analysis was performed to identify the factors of the turnover intention of the telecom employees in Bangladesh. Multiple regressions were run to identify the relationships between the factors identified and the overall turnover intention of the employees in this sector. The results show that there are seven factors concerning the turnover intention of the telecom sector industry of Bangladesh. The factors are: dishonesty and conflict with the supervisor, fulfillment of personal demand and promotion, supervisor change induces job switch, unfair performance influence turnover, alternative employee affects turnover, geographic location affects turnover decision, and fringe benefits help staying in the company.

But there are few studies on the private sector businesses of Bangladesh in this regard. Hence, this study aims to determine the influence of glass ceiling factors on the job satisfaction and job switching decisions of female employees ii the private sector business o/ Bangladesh. This study was concluded by using a structured questionnaire on 177 female employees from the private sector industries such as, banking and telecommunication sectors of Bangladesh. The data were collected using random sampling techniques. The study used Ordered Logit and Binary Logit Regression techniques. This study found that female employees working in banking sector hold more job satisfaction than those of the telecommunication sector. This study also found that glass ceiling related variables has no significant relationship with the job satisfaction of female employees, but there are overall glass ceiling factors that have statistically significant influences on their decisions about changing the existing jobs of women employees. The glass ceiling factors are concerned with the discrimination: by any male colleague. to move to higher management position, /or promotion, and in job security, and switching to better jobs. Some other glass ceiling factors also show a statistically significant relationship with not willing to change job. These are: the married women or the women who like-to be isolated in the workplace, or those who haw a good network and understanding within the organization. In order to improve the situation, several initiatives need to be taken in the organization like awareness building, standard and ethical human resource practices, strict policies for discriminatory attitudes and behavior, etc.
