"Like a lazy river in summer that gives water to a thirsty land," is how Rabbi Garmaize describes God's love as it is meant for the people of Israel. Garmaize uses ancient lessons from the Torah and the Bible to implore today's Jewish Community to shower one another with friendship, brotherhood and love. His purpose in this book is to show a divided Israel it is necessary to accept one another in Peace, so the same olive branch may be extended to those who would relish its destruction. It describes the tragedy, hope and prayers.

Book Encountering Christ in Harmony

Download or read book Encountering Christ in Harmony written by Us Conference of Catholic Bishops and published by . This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This much anticipated pastoral response will guide the Catholic Church in the United States in addressing the pastoral needs of Asian and Pacific Island communities and provide a framework for dioceses and parishes to create pastoral plans specific to their circumstances. The Asian and Pacific Island population in the United States is the fastest growing minority population, according to research referenced in the document. Yet, this population "tends to go unrecognized in the wider US society, and there remains a need to bring more attention and support to the Asian and Pacific Island communities," the bishops say in the pastoral response. Encountering Christ in Harmony hopes to advance the Church's mission of evangelization to specific cultural groups; assist dioceses, parish leaders, other Catholic entities, and the faithful in pastoral outreach to Asian and Pacific Island Catholics; and provide resources and information about Asian and Pacific Island Catholic communities. The pastoral statement ends with a Prayer for Encountering Christ in Harmony. Parishes, dioceses, and others who minister to Asian and Pacific Island Catholic communities will find great support in this pastoral resource! Quote: "The goal of this response is to make Asian and Pacific Island Catholics feel at home, both in the Church and in the United States, while being able to preserve the richness of the spiritual and cultural backgrounds that they bring as contributing members of the Body of Christ. Our hope is that it will be utilized by Catholic dioceses, parishes, and small faith communities in the United States to develop their own plans of action and pastoral outreach to Asian and Pacific Islanders in the United States." -Encountering Christ in Harmony

Book The United States in the Asia Pacific Since 1945

Download or read book The United States in the Asia Pacific Since 1945 written by Roger Buckley and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2002-05-07 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a fast-moving and incisive narrative, Roger Buckley examines America s close and continuous relationship with the Asia-Pacific region from the end of the Pacific War to the first days of the Presidency of George W. Bush. The author traces the responses of the United States government to the major crises in the area through the Cold War decades and the initial post-Cold War years. He demonstrates how the US sought to maintain its dominant regional position through a series of security alliances and its own political, military and economic strengths. Professor Buckley examines the subject from geopolitical perspectives to provide a gateway to the understanding of a complex region certain to be of global importance in the twenty-first century.

Book New Regional Trading Arrangements in the Asia Pacific

Download or read book New Regional Trading Arrangements in the Asia Pacific written by Robert Scollay and published by Peterson Institute. This book was released on 2001 with total page 594 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What are the choices the Asia-Pacific community will face if it proceeds further down the path of developing preferential regional trading arrangements? Fragmentation of the region into preferential trading arrangements on a bilateral or subregional basis promises relatively little economic gain and considerable risk of increased trade conflict. Larger preferential trading blocs, spanning the whole of East Asia, the Western Pacific, or the APEC membership, offer greater potential economic benefits but also face formidable political obstacles. In this study, Scollay and Gilbert weigh the economic consequences of the increased use of preferential trading arrangements in the Asia-Pacific region, whether these develop on the basis of trans-Pacific cooperation or solely within the East Asian or Western Pacific sub-regions. They evaluate the economic effects of both the existing proposals for new bilateral and multilateral agreements and of more far-reaching developments involving the creation of a substantial trading bloc or blocs in the region. Comparisons between the economic effects of establishing such bloc(s) in the region and the effects of achieving APEC's Bogor goals on the basis of "open regionalism" suggest that the latter approach continues to offer a worthwhile alternative. The study demonstrates that the benefits of global free trade dominate those available from establishment of any combination of major blocs or from APEC's "open regionalism".

Download or read book Killers Clients and Kindred Spirits written by Lindsay Coleman and published by Edinburgh University Press. This book was released on 2019-05-09 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The only Japanese director to have won the Palme d'Or from Cannes more than once, and second only to Ozu Yasujiro in the number of times he has won the prestigious Kinema Jumpo Best One award, the late Imamura Shohei was one of Japan's leading and most controversial film directors. This book is one of the first to study all of Imamura's major films alongside his television and theatrical documentaries, focusing on his major themes and concerns. By giving shape to Imamura's career, the book positions him as a stylistic innovator as well as an ethnographic investigator into Japanese culture and tradition; the preeminent examiner of the hidden, barely repressed underpinnings of Japanese society.
