Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'I believe there are many of us who have been wounded by God's people. And I believe there are those of you who have been so wounded, that you have confused God's people with God, and so have run from Him. The purpose of this book is to help you get past your wounds...to move forward into the joy and fellowship of God's presence, claiming the fullness of the blessings He has for you. God loves the wounded. I know.' In her most personal book to date, much loved author Anne Graham Lotz looks at a deeply painful question: what to do when we suffer rejection and hardship at the hands of other believers. Drawing on the story of Hagar, Abraham's mistreated servant, Anne shares the good news of healing and hope, offered by a God who loves us all - especially those on the periphery. An inspiring blend of Old Testament narrative with the author's own experience, this is a book that will show you that, just like Hagar found, 'you can't outrun God'.

  • Pages : 154 pages

Download or read book Rejected and Accepted written by Clement JAMES and published by . This book was released on 2017-12-03 with total page 154 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rejected AND accepted INTRODUCTION.We often treat rejection as something bad and an unwanted phenomena, in fact many live in constant fear of been rejected by men, they are not too sure whether their ideas would be good enough to be accepted. This fear have hindered a lot of people from doing something meaningful with their lives. It has hindered them from taking a constructive step into their greatness. Rejection is a normal part of life, because we all do not often share the same view, taste, opinions on issues, hence some will reject us while some will accept us. Great people thrive on the wings of rejection, what has kept them standing is because they died to people's opinion or view. We shall shortly consider what it means to be rejected and accepted.Rejection.According to Strong's bible dictionary, rejection in Hebrew dialect is from the root word "to spurn" which to despise, cast away, disdain, loathe. So we will understand what Isa 53:3; was saying "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not". KJVThis verse accurately defines what it means to be rejected, and the normal reactions that it brings. A man that is rejected is a man of sorrow, a man that is acquainted with grief. It is the natural order for us to feel grief and agony when we carry a grace that can bless generations, but the very people we least expect raise their voice and stir people against us. Jesus Christ was rejected while he was still on earth bodily, his own people waged the greatest war against him. In fact they were the very people that murdered him without a cause. We have to understand that people love and will always seek the easy way out of life, as such when someone is trying to make a difference by going the other way round, they will withstand, oppose, despise, and disdainfully reject you. This happened as well to the disciples so it is a must for us to face rejection by men. Being rejected by men for our righteous convictions and acts is a sign that we are doing something differently. It means we have broken the status quo. Accepted. To be accepted means to be favored, and desired. This very word is used in Isaiah 56:7"Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people". KJVTo be rejected and to be accepted or desirable goes hand in hand, because though weeping may endure for a while but joy will surely come in the morning. When men reject us we should see it as God's process of making us desirable. It is God's way of making us dead to men's opinion and view. The voice of the people is not often the voice of God, hence we must die to their criticism and oppositions before God's virtue can flow through us. We should fortify ourselves with this truth that God will never reject us but men will surely do, but when they do it should make us stronger and not weigh us down, because the most important personality in the whole universe is unrepentantly in love with us.

Book excerpt: WINNER OF THE MARY HIGGINS CLARK AWARD Jenny Milchman’s Cover of Snow is a remarkable debut, a gripping tale of suspense in the tradition of Gillian Flynn, Chris Bohjalian, and Nancy Pickard. Waking up one wintry morning in her old farmhouse nestled in the Adirondack Mountains of New York, Nora Hamilton instantly knows that something is wrong. When her fog of sleep clears, she finds her world is suddenly, irretrievably shattered: Her husband, Brendan, has committed suicide. The first few hours following Nora’s devastating discovery pass for her in a blur of numbness and disbelief. Then, a disturbing awareness slowly settles in: Brendan left no note and gave no indication that he was contemplating taking his own life. Why would a rock-solid police officer with unwavering affection for his wife, job, and quaint hometown suddenly choose to end it all? Having spent a lifetime avoiding hard truths, Nora must now start facing them. Unraveling her late husband’s final days, Nora searches for an explanation—but finds a bewildering resistance from Brendan’s best friend and partner, his fellow police officers, and his brittle mother. It quickly becomes clear to Nora that she is asking questions no one wants to answer. For beneath the soft cover of snow lies a powerful conspiracy that will stop at nothing to keep its presence unknown . . . and its darkest secrets hidden. Praise for Cover of Snow “Well-defined characters take us on an emotional roller-coaster ride through the darkest night, with blinding twists and occasionally fatal turns. Book excerpt: The perfect marriage of literary and speculative fiction for readers of Kazuo Ishiguro and NK Jemisin. When Freya Tanangco was ten, she dreamed of her mother's death right before it happened. That's when she realized she was a veker, someone with enhanced mental abilities and who is scorned as a result. Freya's adult life has been spent in hiding: from the troubled literary legacy created by her author father, and from the scrutiny of a society in which vekers often meet with violence. When her prophetic dreams take a dangerous turn, Freya finds herself increasingly forced to sacrifice her own anonymity--and the fragile safety that comes with it--in order to protect those around her. Interwoven with themes of Filipino Canadian and mixed-race identity, fantastical elements from Norse and Filipino mythology, and tarot card symbolism, The Quiet Is Loud is an intergenerational tale of familial love and betrayal, and what happens when we refuse to let others tell our stories for us.
