Book excerpt: Rejected AND accepted INTRODUCTION.We often treat rejection as something bad and an unwanted phenomena, in fact many live in constant fear of been rejected by men, they are not too sure whether their ideas would be good enough to be accepted. This fear have hindered a lot of people from doing something meaningful with their lives. It has hindered them from taking a constructive step into their greatness. Rejection is a normal part of life, because we all do not often share the same view, taste, opinions on issues, hence some will reject us while some will accept us. Great people thrive on the wings of rejection, what has kept them standing is because they died to people's opinion or view. We shall shortly consider what it means to be rejected and accepted.Rejection.According to Strong's bible dictionary, rejection in Hebrew dialect is from the root word "to spurn" which to despise, cast away, disdain, loathe. So we will understand what Isa 53:3; was saying "He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not". KJVThis verse accurately defines what it means to be rejected, and the normal reactions that it brings. A man that is rejected is a man of sorrow, a man that is acquainted with grief. It is the natural order for us to feel grief and agony when we carry a grace that can bless generations, but the very people we least expect raise their voice and stir people against us. Jesus Christ was rejected while he was still on earth bodily, his own people waged the greatest war against him. In fact they were the very people that murdered him without a cause. We have to understand that people love and will always seek the easy way out of life, as such when someone is trying to make a difference by going the other way round, they will withstand, oppose, despise, and disdainfully reject you. This happened as well to the disciples so it is a must for us to face rejection by men. Being rejected by men for our righteous convictions and acts is a sign that we are doing something differently. It means we have broken the status quo. Accepted. To be accepted means to be favored, and desired. This very word is used in Isaiah 56:7"Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people". KJVTo be rejected and to be accepted or desirable goes hand in hand, because though weeping may endure for a while but joy will surely come in the morning. When men reject us we should see it as God's process of making us desirable. It is God's way of making us dead to men's opinion and view. The voice of the people is not often the voice of God, hence we must die to their criticism and oppositions before God's virtue can flow through us. We should fortify ourselves with this truth that God will never reject us but men will surely do, but when they do it should make us stronger and not weigh us down, because the most important personality in the whole universe is unrepentantly in love with us.

Book Rejection Proof

Download or read book Rejection Proof written by Jia Jiang and published by Harmony. This book was released on 2015-04-14 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inspiring, relatable, and sometimes outrageous true story of how one man used 100 days of rejection therapy to overcome fear and dare to live more boldly “Rejection Proof smashes fear in the face with a one-two punch. You’ll laugh out loud at Jia’s crazy social experiments, but you’ll also go away thinking differently about what you can accomplish.”—Chris Guillebeau, New York Times bestselling author of The Happiness Pursuit Jia Jiang’s TEDx Talk, “What I learned from 100 days of rejection,” has amassed over ten million views! Jia Jiang came to the United States with the dream of being the next Bill Gates. But despite early success in the corporate world, his first attempt to pursue his entrepreneurial dream ended in rejection. Jia was crushed and spiraled into a period of deep self-doubt. Jia realized that his fear of rejection was a bigger obstacle than any single rejection would ever be; he needed to find a way to cope with being told “no” that wouldn’t destroy him. Inspired by rejection therapy, which uses similar modalities as exposure therapy to desensitize you to the effects of being rejected, he undertook the “100 days of rejection” experiment, during which he willfully sought out rejection on a daily basis—from requesting a lesson in sales from a car salesman (no) to asking a flight attendant if he could make an announcement on the loud speaker (yes) to his famous request to get Krispy Kreme donuts in the shape of Olympic rings (yes, with a viral video to prove it). Over the course of one hundred rejection attempts, Jia realized that even the most preposterous wish might be granted if you ask the right way. He learned the secrets to making successful requests, tactics for picking the right people to approach at the right time, and strategies for converting an initial no into something positive. More important, Jia discovered ways to steel himself against rejection and live more fearlessly—skills that can’t be derailed by a single setback. The changes Jia experienced from his rejection therapy experiment went far beyond becoming more successful in business; he realized that he could apply these techniques to get more out of his relationships with friends, family, and even casual encounters with strangers. Filled with great stories and valuable insight, Rejection Proof shares the secrets of Jia’s rejection journey, distilling each lesson into a strategy that can be used in any negotiation or pitch.

Book Interpersonal Rejection

Download or read book Interpersonal Rejection written by Mark R. Leary and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2001-05-03 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interpersonal rejection ranks among the most potent and distressing events that people experience. Romantic rejection, ostracism, stigmatization, job termination, and other kinds of rejects have the power to compromise the quality of people's lives. As a result, people are highly motivated to avoid social rejection, and indeed, much of human behavior appears to be designed to avoid such experiences. Yet, despite the widespread effects of real, anticipated and even imagined rejections, psychologists have devoted only passing attention to the topic, and the research on rejection has been scattered throughout a number of psychological subspecialtie including social, clinical, developmental, and personality psychology. This volume brigns together contributors whose work is on the cutting edge of rejection research, providing a readable overview of recent advances in the field. In doing so, it not only provides a look at the current state of the area, but also helps to establish the topic of rejection as an identifiable area for future research.

Book excerpt: The perfect marriage of literary and speculative fiction for readers of Kazuo Ishiguro and NK Jemisin. When Freya Tanangco was ten, she dreamed of her mother's death right before it happened. That's when she realized she was a veker, someone with enhanced mental abilities and who is scorned as a result. Freya's adult life has been spent in hiding: from the troubled literary legacy created by her author father, and from the scrutiny of a society in which vekers often meet with violence. When her prophetic dreams take a dangerous turn, Freya finds herself increasingly forced to sacrifice her own anonymity--and the fragile safety that comes with it--in order to protect those around her. Interwoven with themes of Filipino Canadian and mixed-race identity, fantastical elements from Norse and Filipino mythology, and tarot card symbolism, The Quiet Is Loud is an intergenerational tale of familial love and betrayal, and what happens when we refuse to let others tell our stories for us.

Book Grace to Be Accepted and Not Rejected

Download or read book Grace to Be Accepted and Not Rejected written by Daramola Joel Odunayo and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2022-12-25 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's society, it can be easy to feel rejected and unworthy. We may compare ourselves to others and feel like we don't measure up. We may feel like we don't belong or that we are not good enough. These feelings of rejection can be overwhelming and can cause us to feel isolated and alone. But there is hope. In the Bible, we see that God's love is unconditional and that we are accepted in His grace. Ephesians 1:6 tells us that "to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves." This means that we are loved and accepted by God, no matter what we have done or who we are. In "Grace to be Accepted and Not Rejected," we will explore what it means to be accepted in God's grace and how we can find healing and hope in this truth. We will look at the stories of people in the Bible who experienced rejection and how they found acceptance in God's love. We will also examine how we can let go of the fear of rejection and find our identity in Christ. Whether you are struggling with feelings of rejection or simply want to learn more about God's grace, this book is for you. May it bring you hope and encouragement as you discover the truth of your worth and acceptance in God's love. As we journey through this book, we will see that God's grace is not something that we earn or deserve. It is a gift given to us through His love and mercy. Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." This verse reminds us that even when we were at our worst, God chose to send His Son to die for us and offer us His grace. We will also see that God's grace is not limited. It is available to all people, no matter who they are or what they have done. John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This verse shows us that God's love and grace are for everyone, not just for a select few. As we embrace God's grace, we will find healing for the wounds of rejection and be able to experience the fullness of His love. In Colossians 3:13, it says, "Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." By accepting God's grace and extending it to others, we can find the freedom and healing that comes from being fully accepted and loved by Him. Join me on this journey as we discover the depth of God's grace and how it can transform our lives and bring us hope and acceptance. May we find rest in His love and be filled with His peace as we learn to embrace His grace and be accepted, not rejected.

Book Bouncing Back from Rejection

Download or read book Bouncing Back from Rejection written by Leslie Becker-Phelps and published by New Harbinger Publications. This book was released on 2019-12-01 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Go beyond your fear of rejection to develop confidence, compassionate self-awareness, and resilience! Do you have a fear of rejection? If so, you aren’t alone. But if you have difficulty bouncing back after rejection, experience intense pain as a result, or if the fear of rejection is so crippling that it interferes with your everyday life, it’s time to make a change. This groundbreaking guide can help. With this book, you’ll learn why you fear rejection by gaining an understanding of your unique attachment style. Secure attachment is defined as a feeling of being protected and well-cared for. People who experience secure attachment as young children are more likely to be happy, healthy, and resilient adults. On the other hand, insecurely attached people are less likely to cope well with rejection, and may have trouble “bouncing back” after difficult experiences. Once you understand how your attachment style has informed your fears, you can begin the work needed to overcome them! Using the theory of attachment, and the five domains of awareness: Sensations, Thoughts, Emotions, Actions, and Mentalizing (STEAM), you’ll learn to relate to yourself and to others in more positive ways, even when difficult situations arise. So, whether you experience rejection in a romantic relationship, at work, or with friends, you’ll have the resilience needed to recover quickly and focus on what makes you special and unique. This isn’t a book that promises to protect you from future rejection. Unfortunately, rejection happens to everyone and is a normal part of life. But you will learn skills to handle this rejection and come to see it as less scary. With this view, you’ll gain confidence, self-awareness, and the resilience needed to bounce back, even when life throws you a curveball.

Book Where You Go Is Not Who You ll Be

Download or read book Where You Go Is Not Who You ll Be written by Frank Bruni and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2015-03-17 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Read award-winning journalist Frank Bruni's New York Times bestseller: an inspiring manifesto about everything wrong with today's frenzied college admissions process and how to make the most of your college years. Over the last few decades, Americans have turned college admissions into a terrifying and occasionally devastating process, preceded by test prep, tutors, all sorts of stratagems, all kinds of rankings, and a conviction among too many young people that their futures will be determined and their worth established by which schools say yes and which say no. In Where You Go is Not Who You'll Be, Frank Bruni explains why this mindset is wrong, giving students and their parents a new perspective on this brutal, deeply flawed competition and a path out of the anxiety that it provokes. Bruni, a bestselling author and a columnist for the New York Times, shows that the Ivy League has no monopoly on corner offices, governors' mansions, or the most prestigious academic and scientific grants. Through statistics, surveys, and the stories of hugely successful people, he demonstrates that many kinds of colleges serve as ideal springboards. And he illuminates how to make the most of them. What matters in the end are students' efforts in and out of the classroom, not the name on their diploma. Where you go isn't who you'll be. Americans need to hear that--and this indispensable manifesto says it with eloquence and respect for the real promise of higher education.
