Book Reinforced concrete Slab column Structures

Download or read book Reinforced concrete Slab column Structures written by Andrzej Ajdukiewicz and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1990 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a review of the whole field of flat plates and slab-column structures, also known as beamless structures, encompassing their analysis, design and detailed construction from both the theoretical and practical aspects. Methods of analysis and design for slabs and entire slab-column structures are compared and assessed both for elastic and post-elastic phases with recommendations for practical use. The review and comparison of the techniques of design for joints between slabs and columns together with test results presents the reader with a choice of applications. The outline of international construction solutions used in monolithic prefabricated structures, including lift-slab structures, includes examples of real buildings and provides a wealth of information for designers. An integral part of the book consists of tables and nomograms for the direct calculation of bending moments, deflections and support reactions in slabs locally supported.

Book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete

Download or read book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete written by Roger P. Johnson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to the theory and design of composite structures of steel and concrete. Material applicable to both buildings and bridges is included, with more detailed information relating to structures for buildings. Throughout, the design methods are illustrated by calculations in accordance with the Eurocode for composite structures, EN 1994, Part 1-1, ‘General rules and rules for buildings’ and Part 1-2, ‘Structural fire design’, and their cross-references to ENs 1990 to 1993. The methods are stated and explained, so that no reference to Eurocodes is needed. The use of Eurocodes has been required in the UK since 2010 for building and bridge structures that are publicly funded. Their first major revision began in 2015, with the new versions due in the early 2020s. Both authors are involved in the work on Eurocode 4. They explain the expected additions and changes, and their effect in the worked examples for a multi-storey framed structure for a building, including resistance to fire. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students, their lecturers and supervisors, and to practising engineers seeking familiarity with composite structures, the Eurocodes, and their ongoing revision.

Book Strength and Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Slab column Connections Subjected to Static and Dynamic Loadings

Download or read book Strength and Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Slab column Connections Subjected to Static and Dynamic Loadings written by Marvin E. Criswell and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objectives of this investigation were to study the strength and behavior of slowly (statically) loaded reinforced concrete slab-column connections and to determine the effect of rapid (dynamic) loading on the strength and behavior by comparison with the static test results. Nineteen full-scale models of a connection and adjoining slab area, consisting of a simply supported slab 84 or 94 inches square and 6-1/2 inches thick loaded concentrically on a 10- or 20-inch-square stub column at the center of the slab, were tested. The main variables were the amounts of reinforcement in the slab (p = 0.75 and 1.50 percent), the column size, and the loading speed. Eight specimens were loaded to failure statically, two were subjected to a very rapidly applied load of short duration, and nine were loaded to failure by a rapidly applied load with a rise time chosen to represent the conditions in a blast-loaded structure. The static test results are compared with 12 shear strength prediction methods. Differences between the mechanism of shear failure in slabs and beams are examined. (Author).
