Download or read book DIFFRACTION MAGNETIQUE RESONANTE DES RAYONS X APPLICATIONS AUX MULTICOUCHES ET FILMS MINCES written by LAURENT.. SEVE and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: CE MEMOIRE TRAITE DE LA DIFFUSION MAGNETIQUE RESONANTE DES RAYONS X ET DE SON APPLICATION A DES ECHANTILLONS MULTICOUCHES ET FILMS MINCES. LES BASES THEORIQUES DE LA DIFFRACTION MAGNETIQUE RESONANTE SONT EXPOSEES AFIN DE PRECISER L'ORIGINE DU PROCESSUS ET D'EN CERNER LES CONDITIONS D'OBSERVATIONS (ETAT DE POLARISATION ET ENERGIE DU FAISCEAU DE PHOTONS, ETAT MAGNETIQUE DU MATERIAU). CELLE-CI CONSTITUE L'EQUIVALENT POUR LES RAYONS X, MOUS (10 - 2000 EV) OU DURS (3 - 20 KEV) DES EFFETS KERR ET FARADAY POUR UNE LUMIERE VISIBLE. LE DEVELOPPEMENT DE CETTE TECHNIQUE, DANS L'APPROXIMATION CINEMATIQUE DE LA DIFFUSION DES RAYONS X, EST EFFECTUE SUR DES MULTICOUCHES A BASE D'ELEMENTS DE METAUX DE TRANSITION 3D (FE, CO, NI). IL A ETE MIS EN EVIDENCE DE FORTES DIFFERENCES DANS L'INTENSITE DIFFRACTEE SELON L'ORIENTATION DE L'AIMANTATION DU MATERIAU ET POUR DIFFERENTES GEOMETRIES DE DIFFRACTION. LES ANALYSES QUANTITATIVES EFFECTUES MONTRENT LA DIVERSITE DES INFORMATIONS POUVANT ETRE OBTENUES : AMPLITUDE DE MOMENTS MAGNETIQUES, PRESENCE DE PLANS MAGNETIQUEMENT INERTES AUX INTERFACES, SEPARATION DES MOMENTS DANS LE CAS D'UN ALLIAGE, DESCRIPTION DE L'ETAT DE COUPLAGE ANTIFERROMAGNETIQUE ENTRE COUCHES D'ELEMENTS 3D FERROMAGNETIQUEMENT ORDONNEES. LA MESURE DU SIGNAL D'ORIGINE MAGNETIQUE SUR PLUSIEURS ORDRES DE DIFFRACTION EST PRESENTEE POUR DES MULTICOUCHES CE/FE ET LA/FE. UNE ANALYSE QUANTITATIVE PERMET DE DECRIRE LE PROFIL DE POLARISATION EN SPIN AU TRAVERS DE LA COUCHE DE LA OU DE CE. LE RESULTAT PRINCIPAL EST LA NON CONSTANCE DE LA POLARISATION MAGNETIQUE DES ETATS 5D AU TRAVERS DE LA COUCHE DE LA ET DE CE, AVEC UNE FORTE DECROISSANCE LOCALISEE AUX INTERFACES DANS LE CAS DE LA, ET UNE DECROISSANCE PLUS LENTE AVEC PRESENCE D'UNE OSCILLATION DANS LE CAS DE CE. L'EXTENSION DE CETTE TECHNIQUE AU CAS DE LA REFLECTIVITE DES RAYONS X PERMET DE SONDER DES FILMS MINCES NE PRESENTANT PAS DE PERIODICITES PARTICULIERES. LA THEORIE OPTIQUE DES RAYONS X A DONC ETE ABORDEE EN TENANT COMPTE DE L'ANISOTROPIE OPTIQUE INTRODUITE PAR L'AIMANTATION DU MILIEU ET PAR CONSEQUENCE DE L'ASPECT TENSORIELLE DE L'INTERACTION ONDE-MATIERE. LE CAS DE LA GEOMETRIE KERR TRANSVERSE EST CONSIDERE, PERMETTANT DE PRENDRE EN COMPTE L'INFLUENCE DES RUGOSITES CHIMIQUE ET MAGNETIQUE PRESENTES A L'INTERFACE ENTRE DEUX MATERIAUX CONSTITUTIFS DES FILMS MINCES ETUDIES.

Book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals

Download or read book Flexoelectricity in Liquid Crystals written by Agnes Buka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book intends to give a state-of-the-art overview of flexoelectricity, a linear physical coupling between mechanical (orientational) deformations and electric polarization, which is specific to systems with orientational order, such as liquid crystals. Chapters written by experts in the field shed light on theoretical as well as experimental aspects of research carried out since the discovery of flexoelectricity. Besides a common macroscopic (continuum) description the microscopic theory of flexoelectricity is also addressed. Electro-optic effects due to or modified by flexoelectricity as well as various (direct and indirect) measurement methods are discussed. Special emphasis is given to the role of flexoelectricity in pattern-forming instabilities. While the main focus of the book lies in flexoelectricity in nematic liquid crystals, peculiarities of other mesophases (bent-core systems, cholesterics, and smectics) are also reviewed. Flexoelectricity has relevance to biological (living) systems and can also offer possibilities for technical applications. The basics of these two interdisciplinary fields are also summarized.
