This book was released on 2016 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Nooksack Dace (Rhinichthys cataractae) was assessed as Endangered by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC) in 2000, and subsequently listed under the Species at Risk Act as Endangered in June of 2003. In June of 2008 the final Recovery Strategy for Nooksack Dace (Rhinichthys cataractae) in Canada was posted to the Species at Risk Public Registry. An updated COSEWIC assessment in 2007 reconfirmed the species' status as Endangered (COSEWIC 2007). The recovery goal as identified in the Recovery Strategy is to "ensure the long-term viability of Nooksack Dace populations throughout their natural distribution in Canada." This report documents the progress of Recovery Strategy implementation for Nooksack Dace. It summarizes progress that Fisheries and Oceans Canada, the Province of British Columbia's Ministry of Environment, and other interested parties have made towards achieving the goal and objectives set out in the Recovery Strategy, including: conducting new research and monitoring activities (including advancing studies to support the identification of critical habitat); and completing management activities that help Canadians reduce impacts on, and better understand the threats to, Nooksack Dace"--Executive summary.

Book excerpt: "This Action Plan addresses the entire distribution of the Nooksack Dace (Rhinichtys cataractae) and the Salish Sucker (Catostomus sp. cf. catostomus) in Canada. The action plan identifies recovery measures to be taken by Fisheries and Oceans Canada, in cooperation and consultation with other agencies, organizations and individuals as appropriate, to support the recovery of Nooksack Dace and Salish Sucker. As all Canadians are invited to join in supporting and implementing this action plan for the benefit of the Nooksack Dace and Salish Sucker and Canadian society as a whole, the action plan also identifies actions that would contribute to the recovery of Nooksack Dace and Salish Sucker that could be voluntarily undertaken by other jurisdictions, groups and individuals interested in participating in the recovery of these species"--Executive summary, p. iii.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Speckled Dace (Rhinichthys osculus) is a small freshwater minnow. Recent field studies have confirmed a large and apparently robust population of Speckled Dace throughout its Canadian range, far in excess of previous estimates made prior to being listed as Endangered in Schedule 1 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA). This document includes an executive summary, recovery feasibility summary, measuring progress, and statement on action plans.--Includes text from document.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Nooksack dace is a morphologically distinctive fish derived from the common and widely distributed longnose dace, Rhinichthys cataractae. Although widespread in Washington state, the Nooksack dace is restricted in its Canadian distribution to four small streams tributary to the Nooksack River in the lower Fraser River Valley, British Columbia. This report provides information on the fish's geographic distribution, protection status, population sizes and trends, habitat, general biology, factors limiting its population and affecting its habitat, and the special significance of the species. Concludes with an evaluation of the future of the species in Canada.
