Book Ratio Estimation of the Mean Under RRT Models

Download or read book Ratio Estimation of the Mean Under RRT Models written by Qi Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Ratio estimation is a parameter estimation technique that uses a known auxiliary variable that is correlated with the study variable. In many situations, the primary variable of interest may be sensitive and it cannot be observed directly. However, we can observe directly a non-sensitive variable that is highly correlated with the study variable. In these cases, we have to rely on some Randomized Response Technique (RRT) models to obtain information on the study variable. In this thesis, we first review some RRT models, some general ratio and product estimation techniques, and two Kalucha et al. (2015) ratio estimators that are based on Gupta et al. (2010) additive optional RRT model. One of the Kalucha et al. (2015) estimators, the multiplicative ratio estimator, did not work efficiently and was abandoned. The main focus of this thesis is on fixing the Kalucha et al. (2015) abandoned multiplicative ratio estimator and reevaluating its performance. We discuss the Bias and the Mean Square Error (MSE) of our proposed multiplicative ratio estimator correct up to first order approximation, and present the comparisons with other estimators under the additive optional RRT model. A simulation study is also conducted to verify the theoretical result. Both the theoretical and the empirical results show that the proposed multiplicative ratio estimator is more efficient than the ordinary RRT estimator that does not utilize the auxiliary variable. It also compares well with the additive ratio estimator of Kalucha et al. (2015)."--Abstract from author supplied metadata.

Download or read book Two Phase Sampling written by Zahoor Ahmad and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-09-26 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of estimators of population parameters based on two-phase sampling schemes has seen a dramatic increase in the past decade. Various authors have developed estimators of population using either one or two auxiliary variables. The present volume is a comprehensive collection of estimators available in single and two phase sampling. The book covers estimators which utilize information on single, two and multiple auxiliary variables of both quantitative and qualitative nature. The estimators discussed in the text are based upon different mechanisms of the availability of auxiliary information, termed here as Full, Partial and No Information. Multivariate estimators in survey sampling are also discussed in the book. Two Phase Sampling will prove an invaluable point of reference for researchers working in the field of survey sampling in general and in the field of two-phase sampling in particular.

Book Engineering Approaches to Study Cardiovascular Physiology Modeling Estimation and Signal Processing

Download or read book Engineering Approaches to Study Cardiovascular Physiology Modeling Estimation and Signal Processing written by Riccardo Barbieri and published by Frontiers E-books. This book was released on with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With cardiovascular diseases being one of the main causes of death in the world, quantitative modeling, assessment and monitoring of the cardiovascular control system plays a critical role in bringing important breakthroughs to cardiovascular care. Quantification of cardiovascular physiology and its control dynamics from physiological recordings and by use of mathematical models and algorithms has been proved to be of important value in understanding the causes of cardiovascular diseases and assisting the prognostic or diagnostic process. Nowadays, development of new recording technologies (e.g., electrophysiology, imaging, ultrasound, etc) has enabled us to improve and expand acquisition of a wide spectrum of physiological measures related to cardiovascular control. An emerging challenge is to process and interpret such increasing amount of information by using state-of-the-art approaches in systems modeling, estimation and control, and signal processing, which would lead to further insightful scientific findings. In particular, multi-disciplinary engineering-empowered approaches of studying cardiovascular systems would greatly deepen our understanding of cardiovascular functions (e.g., heart rate variability, baroreflex sensitivity) and autonomic control, as it would also improve the knowledge about heart pathology, cardiovascular rehabilitation and therapy. Meanwhile, developing cardiovascular biomedical devices or heart-machine interface for either clinical monitoring or rehabilitation purpose is of greater and greater interest for both scientific advancement and potential medical benefits. This Research Topic will bring together established experts whose areas of research cover a wide range of studies and applications. Contributions include but are not limited to state-of-the-art modeling methodologies, algorithmic development in signal processing and estimation, as well as applications in cardiovascular rehabilitation, and clinical monitoring. The Research Topic will consider both invited reviews and original research.

Book Regression Estimation of the Mean in Survey Sampling

Download or read book Regression Estimation of the Mean in Survey Sampling written by Mingue Park and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Regression estimators for the finite population mean constructed under superpopulation models are considered. The conditions under which the model-based estimator is design-consistent are presented. Methods of augmenting the regression model to produce a design consistent estimator are discussed. It is shown that adding a specified column to the model-based regression estimator gives a design consistent regression estimator with the generalized least squares estimator for the vector of regression coefficients. The regression estimator that is the best linear unbiased predictor under the mixed effects model and that is design-consistent is presented. An estimator for the design variance of the regression estimator is developed. A weighted regression estimator that builds upon the approximate conditional inclusion probabilities of the sample elements is developed. The sample weights of the weighted regression estimator are positive with high probability. It is demonstrated that the strategy of the best linear unbiased predictor with a balanced sample is similar to the strategy of a regression estimator with a random sample. A balanced sample constructed by restricted random sampling and two stratified random sampling designs, both using the regression estimator, are compared for the problem of estimating the population distribution function. The regression estimator with a stratified sample gives smaller bias and smaller mean squared error than the best linear unbiased predictor with a restricted random sample for almost all points on the distribution function.
