Book Stereoregular Polymers and Stereospecific Polymerizations

Download or read book Stereoregular Polymers and Stereospecific Polymerizations written by Giulio Natta and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stereoregular Polymers and Stereospecific Polymerizations: The Contributions of Guilio Natta and his School to Polymer Chemistry, Volume 1 covers the developments in understanding the reactions, nomenclature, and physico-chemical properties of polymers. This volume is composed of 82 chapters, and starts with surveys of the synthesis and crystal structure of polymers. Significant chapters are devoted to the characterization of crystalline polymers, with emphasis on the determination of their viscosity and molecular weight. Other chapters deal with stereospecific polymers of olefins, mechanism of stereospecific catalysis, reaction kinetics. This volume also considers the polymerization of synthetic elastomers and the copolymerization of olefins, as well as their reaction kinetics. The remaining chapters describe the X-ray characterization of isotactic polymers. This book is directed toward polymer chemists.

Book Crystallization of Polymers

    Book Details:
  • Author : Marcel Dosière
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9401119503
  • Pages : 650 pages

Download or read book Crystallization of Polymers written by Marcel Dosière and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the discovery that polymer single crystals are composed of chain folded macromolecules in 1957, the crystallization of polymers has attracted considerable interest and still provides fascinating and fruitful areas of research. Only a few books have been fully devoted to the crystallization of polymers in the past. This book contains the proceedings of the NATO ARW devoted to the `Crystallization of Polymers' which took place in September 1992 at the University of Mons-Hainaut (Belgium). In view of the variety of papers devoted to the crystallization of polymers, this book will be used in the next few years as a reference book for scientists concerned in the field of polymer physical chemistry. Crystallization of Polymers is mainly devoted to the experimental and theoretical study of the crystallization of synthetic polymers. As a kinetic study of the growth of polymer crystals should always be preceded by a morphological or a structural investigation, the structure, the morphology of polymer crystals and more particularly the lamellar and supralamellar organizations, as well as the nature of the crystal amorphous interface are reviewed and discussed.

Book Characterization of Solid Polymers

Download or read book Characterization of Solid Polymers written by S.J. Spells and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 380 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last decade or so has seen a dramatic increase in the amount of detailed structural information available from a range of experimental techniques. Exciting new techniques such as atomic force microscopy have become widely available, while the potential of established methods like X-ray diffraction and electron microscopy has been greatly enhanced by powerful new sources and analytical methods. Progress in computing has also had a widespread impact: in areas such as neutron scattering, large data sets can now be manipulated more readily. The software supplied with commercial instruments generally provides more sophisti cated analytical facilities, while time-resolved X-ray studies rely on rapid data handling capabilities. The polymer scientist is faced with an expanding array of experimental tools for addressing both fundamental science and industrial problems. This work reviews some recent developments in structural techniques, with the aim of presenting the current 'state of the art' in a selection of areas.

Book Fast Scanning Calorimetry

Download or read book Fast Scanning Calorimetry written by Christoph Schick and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-06-28 with total page 796 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the past decades, the scan rate range of calorimeters has been extended tremendously at the high end, from approximately 10 up to 10 000 000 °C/s and more. The combination of various calorimeters and the newly-developed Fast Scanning Calorimeters (FSC) now span 11 orders of magnitude, by which many processes can be mimicked according to the time scale(s) of chemical and physical transitions occurring during cooling, heating and isothermal stays in case heat is exchanged. This not only opens new areas of research on polymers, metals, pharmaceuticals and all kinds of substances with respect to glass transition, crystallization and melting phenomena, it also enables in-depth study of metastability and reorganization of samples on an 1 to 1000 ng scale. In addition, FSC will become a crucial tool for understanding and optimization of processing methods at high speeds like injection molding. The book resembles the state-of-the art in Thermal Analysis & Calorimetry and is an excellent starting point for both experts and newcomers in the field.
