Book Raising a Ibizan Hound Dog

Download or read book Raising a Ibizan Hound Dog written by Chad Bruno and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2023-12-24 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ibizan Hound is a type of dog that was first developed on the Spanish island of Ibiza, where it is also known as the Podenco Ibicenco or the Ibizan Warren Hound. These canines stand out visually and perform uniquely in the field. Some facts and traits regarding the Ibizan Hound are as follows: 1.Ibizan Hounds have a slim, refined look that sets them apart. They have long, slender legs, huge, perked ears, and a lean, athletic build. They have a short coat that can be red, white, or a combination of the two hues. 2. Ibizan Hounds have a reputation for being intelligent and self-reliant. In general, they have a pleasant demeanor and are kind and devoted to their owners. They may be shy with unfamiliar people, but within their own circles they are warm and gregarious. 3. Hunting Instinct: These dogs were originally bred for hunting small animals, such as rabbits, on the island of Ibiza. They're expert hunters with a keen eye for tracking their prey. They're common in hunting and coursing competitions. 4. Ibizan Hounds need daily exercise to maintain their high quality of life. They benefit greatly from being given adequate space and time to engage in their favorite pastimes of running and playing. 5. Due to their independence, Ibizan Hounds can be difficult to train. Training them could take time and consistency. In most cases, children respond better to positive reinforcement than they do to punishment. 6. Family Life: These dogs can make good family pets when properly socialized and trained. However, their hunting instinct may lead them to chase smaller animals and make them unfriendly to children and other canines. 7. The short coat of an Ibizan Hound requires minimal grooming time. Regular brushing can help keep their coat clean and decrease shedding. They are generally a low-maintenance breed in terms of grooming. 8. Ibizan Hounds, like all dog breeds, are predisposed to specific health problems such hip dysplasia and eye diseases. Responsible breeders screen for these disorders, and it's crucial for future owners to be aware of the breed's possible health difficulties. Ibizan Hounds are a beautiful and rare species with a long tradition of working with humans as hunters. When cared for by someone who fully appreciates their unique personality and demands, they can make wonderful pets

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Ibizan Hound, like the name suggests, is a breed of dog that is a member of the hound family. The Ibizan Hound originated on the island of Elvissa and has been traditionally put to use in the Catalan-speaking areas of Spain and France. The Ibizan Hound is a lean and agile breed that is capable of hunting on all types of terrain and was mainly employed to hunt rabbits and other small game. The breed has an incredibly good sense of sight and smell which allows it to easy track small game. Hunters traditionally use packs of Ibizan Hound females as the female Ibizan Hound is considered to be a much better hunter. The Ibizan Hound will normally be completely silent during a hunt as it also uses its sense of hearing to locate prey, however once the prey is located and trapped the Ibizan Hound will normally bark as a signal to the hunter. While the need for hunting rabbits has died down, the Ibizan Hound is still a popular breed within Spain and France. The Ibizan Hound is now mainly used in dog shows, especially for agility trials, as it has a great degree of discipline, a high level of obedience, great agility and has a very powerful vertical jump. The Ibizan Hound has an elegant and agile frame but also has good bone girth which makes it a hardy and all around rugged breed. The breed's distinguishing feature is its large upright ears. The Ibizan Hound's coat can come in two varieties: wiry and smooth. Smooth coats tend to be very short while wiry coats (which are dramatically more rare) can range in length from 1 to 3 inches. The temperament of dogs is normally affected by the following factors: individual personality, heredity, training and socialization. It is therefore important to make sure that you meet the puppy's mother before purchasing a Ibizan Hound. It is also important to make sure to thoroughly socialize your Ibizan Hound with strangers, children and other animals during its puppyhood. Generally speaking, the Ibizan Hound is a very affectionate, intelligent and loyal companion that can fit in easily to any household environment. It is important to note that they breed has a relatively high prey drive and should therefore not be left alone with other small household pets to avoid any potential accidents. It is important to note that as a working breed, the Ibizan Hound has a high amount of energy which needs to be expended. If the Ibizan Hound has a buildup of energy it is likely to develop destructive behaviors due to boredom or hyperactivity. Before purchasing any pet it is important to understand that as a pet owner you are responsible for the care and wellbeing of your pet. It is important to try and learn as much as you can about the animal you are considering to keep as a pet to make sure that your lifestyle, household and financial status are suited to provide your pet with the best possible care.
