Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dramatic memoir traces Herman Bodson's transformation from a pacifist and scientist to, in his own words, "a cold fighter and a killer" in the Belgian underground, an expert in explosives and sabotage. Serving first in the OMBR (Office Militaire Belge de Resistance), he later formed a group of underground fighters in the Belgian Ardennes. They undertook blowing up military trains and installations - including the sabotage of a bridge which resulted in the deaths of some six hundred German soldiers - cutting German communication lines, and rescuing downed American fliers. Bodson also served as a medical aide to an American military doctor at Bastogne in the crucial days of the Battle of the Bulge.

Download or read book Hitler s Last Christmas written by Donald F. Kilburg, Jr and published by Outskirts Press. This book was released on 2019-05-02 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The events of World War II have been studied, analyzed and documented extensively. Yet, one of the greatest feats of aerial bombing warfare has been all but ignored. In Hitler’s Last Christmas, we revisit the Second World War and specifically Sunday, December 24, 1944—when the 8th Air Force launched the largest air armada in the history of warfare. It was a desperate effort by the Allies to support the troops hopelessly hunkered down in the frigid weather of the Battle of the Bulge. The eventual success of those beleaguered troops was to some great measure due to the success of that Christmas Eve air mission. The details of the 8th Air Force mission #760 were mis-filed shortly after the war and the magnitude of that day in December 1944 overlooked—until now. Hitler’s Last Christmas shares the accounts of the event both from the Air Force Archives and the memories of those brave flyers who participated in it.

I am a single mother with four children who had a horrible past that infected my thinking pattern towards men in general. Some folks with this type of insecurity go and see therapist, but decide to consult God about this issue. In result of finding God I found the truth why many of women are single, and the main reason is that we hold on to a lot of hurt that mess with our mind and thinking. When I began to contact God for myself, when I was out the sight of church, my family, and friends I was faced alone in the mirror with myself. And as I confront issue that was pulled up by seeking God it showed me the true answer to what I and many women ask God. What happen to the good men, is a book about my life that will inspire some and encourage other but important give you courage to face you. I also show the importance of why having a relationship with God for yourself is necessary. And in the end you will see that God's yoke is easy, and burden is light. When I tried to find a good man on my own, I was picking the wrong one because of me, not the men. But when I finally decide to detach myself from my own issues and come outside myself I got free and love found me.

Download or read book Hell of a Journey written by Mike Cawthorne and published by Birlinn. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hell of a Journey describes what is arguably the last great journey to be undertaken in Britain: the entire Scottish Highlands on foot in one winter. On one level it is a vivid and evocative account of a remarkable trek - never attempted before - on another it celebrates the uniqueness of the Highlands, the scenery and ecology of 'the last wilderness in Europe'. The challenge Mike Cawthorne set himself was to climb all 135 of Scotland's 1,000-metre peaks, which stretch in an unbroken chain through the heart of the Highlands, from Sutherland to the Eastern Cairngorms, down to Loch Lomond, and west to Glencoe. His route traversed the most spectacular landscape in Scotland, linking every portion of wilderness, and was completed in the midst of the harshest winter conditions imaginable. Acclaimed on its first publication in 2000, this edition contains an epilogue in which Mike Cawthorne reflects on his trek and wonders what has changed since he carried it out. He warns that 'wild land in Scotland has never been under greater threat'. Hell of a Journey is a reminder of what we could so easily lose forever.
