Book Radiative Corrections to One Photon Decays of Hydrogenic Ions

Download or read book Radiative Corrections to One Photon Decays of Hydrogenic Ions written by and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiative corrections to the decay rate of n = 2 states of hydrogenic ions are calculated. The transitions considered are the M1 decay of the 2s state to the ground state and the E1(M2) decays of the 2p12 and 2p32 states to the ground state. The radiative corrections start in order [alpha](Z[alpha])2, but the method used sums all orders of Z[alpha]. The leading [alpha](Z[alpha])2 correction for the E1 decays is calculated and compared with the exact result. The extension of the calculational method to parity nonconserving transitions in neutral atoms is discussed.

Book An Introduction To Quantum Field Theory Student Economy Edition

Download or read book An Introduction To Quantum Field Theory Student Economy Edition written by Michael Peskin and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory is a textbook intended for the graduate physics course covering relativistic quantum mechanics, quantum electrodynamics, and Feynman diagrams. The authors make these subjects accessible through carefully worked examples illustrating the technical aspects of the subject, and intuitive explanations of what is going on behind the mathematics. After presenting the basics of quantum electrodynamics, the authors discuss the theory of renormalization and its relation to statistical mechanics, and introduce the renormalization group. This discussion sets the stage for a discussion of the physical principles that underlie the fundamental interactions of elementary particle physics and their description by gauge field theories.

Book Radiative Corrections to the Decays K sub L Ee and K sub L

Download or read book Radiative Corrections to the Decays K sub L Ee and K sub L written by and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors calculate the rates and lepton (l) invariant mass distributions for decays of the form 0{sup -+} → ll−?, which are important radiative corrections to the purely leptonic decays 0{sup -+} → l+l−. The approach uses the loop diagrams which arise by including the two photon intermediate state and they retain the imaginary parts of the loops--a radiative extension of the unitarity bound for the process. These results are compared with those obtained using a model in which the meson couples directly to the leptons.
