Book excerpt: Radha, an award-winning novel by Krishna Dharabasi, is a mythopoetic fiction that relies on a subject drawn from the epic Mahabharata with a special focus on the lives and relations between Krishna and Radha. Written from Radhas perspective, the novel excavates those subtle and discursive social constructs of that era that barred a woman from exercising her free will and licensed a man for following his unrestrained desires. The novel peels out those myth-making endeavors that gave Krishna an aura of a godlike personality and left Radha waiting on the fringe of the society to see his return and fulfillment of her desire.

It is said that without taking shelter of Rupa Gosvami one cannot enter into the pastimes of Lord Caitanya, and without taking shelter of Rupa Manjari one cannot enter into the confidential loving pastimes of Sri Sri Radha Krishna. Download or read book Finding Radha written by Gokhale Namita and published by Penguin Enterprise. This book was released on 2018-11-14 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Who was Radha, and why has she captured the imagination of so many writers across centuries? No other goddess combines the elements of bhakti and shringara quite as exquisitely as the divine milkmaid. She spans a vivid rainbow of imagery-from the playfulness of the Ras Lila to the soulfulness of her undying love, from the mystic allure of her depictions in poetry, art and sculpture to her enduring legacy in Vrindavan. In a way that sets her apart from other female consorts, Radha is idealized and dreamed of in a way that is almost more elemental than mythical. Namita Gokhale and Malashri Lal, who brought us In Search of Sita: Revisiting Mythology, now present an anthology on the mysterious Radha, the epitome of love, who defies all conventional codes yet transcends social prohibitions through the power of the spiritual and the sensual, the sacred and the erotic. Finding Radha is the first of its kind: a collection of poetry, prose and translation that enter the historical as well as the artistic dimensions of the eternal romance of Radha and Krishna.

Download or read book The Reincarnation of Radha written by Mae Gosaynie and published by One Point Six Technologies Pvt Ltd. This book was released on with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: She is referred to as the mysterious Radha! Some people do not believe she ever existed. Others believe she was an adulteress. The truth is that Radha was a soul that lacked self-love. However, her love for Sri Krishna was boundless and unconditional. In this contemporary 21st century story about Radha’s reincarnation, you will learn how her consciousness contrived a plan to give Sri Krishna the Shakti he needed from her while simultaneously breaking her heart. She even chose for him to never speak to her until she had become enlightened herself. She thought nothing of her own self-preservation or the great suffering she would inevitably endure. The questions that remain to be answered are: Will Radha be able to heal from such a traumatic experience? Will she be able to forgive Sri Krishna for breaking her heart? And finally, will she eventually be able to merge with Krishna as they had originally planned? Read Radha’s story to find the answers disclosed within. -- “Written through the framework of choosing the journey of our lives on the path to enlightenment, the author forces us to consider what we have chosen to endure and why. Beautifully written through the eyes of a reincarnation story and the suffering of the soul on its way to salvation and becoming a goddess. This precious story of spiritual mates on their evolutionary journey reminds us of our mortality and declares that our life journey is a special, and personal, experience meant for spiritual growth. Inspired by traditional beliefs, we rediscover, or uncover for the first time, that we choose our suffering, which ultimately helps us advance as humans and have purpose during our cycles of life on Earth.” - Kat Lahr Writer, Researcher, Educator Southern New Hampshire University

Out of these Guna’s first is ‘Tapas’, desire for darkness, those who do not think about pros & cons before doing their karma fall in this category. Download or read book Gita Govinda written by Jayadeva and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2017-12-01 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jayadeva’s Gitagovínda is a lyrical account of the illicit springtime love affair of Krishna and Radha, a god and goddess manifesting on earth as a cowherd and milkmaid for the sake of relishing the sweet miseries and rapturous delights of erotic love. The narrative framing their bucolic songs was composed under royal patronage in northeastern India in the twelfth century. It was to be performed for connoisseurs of poetry and the erotic arts, for aesthetes and voluptuaries who, while sensually engaged, were at the same time devoted to Krishna as Lord of the Universe. The text at once celebrates the vicissitudes of carnal love and the transports of religious devotion, merging and reconciling those realms of emotion and experience. Erotic and religious sensibilities serve, and are served by, the pleasures of poetry. In the centuries following its composition, the courtly text became a vastly popular inspirational hymnal. Jayadeva's songs continue to be sung throughout India in fervent devotional adoration of Krishna.

Download or read book Discovery of Prehistory Ancient India written by Dr. Jagat K. Motwani and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2018-02-22 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nationalist and Revolutionary While a high school student, I actively participated in the Mahatma Gandhis 1942 movement Quit India. I felt disappointed because only a few prominent leaders like Gandhi and Nehru were imprisoned. On Sept. 9, 1945, under the patronage of the Dadu District British Collector, the town dignitaries including my grand father and Mr. Tuljaram Nagrani, the principal of the town High school, along with the matriculate students had assembled at the Hindu temple to celebrate the victory of the Allies at the WW II. Sweets were distributed. I threw the sweets on the floor. The reason I did this was not because I sided with the Axis powers. But because Indian soldiers were fighting for Britain, as India was not a free country. Next morning, the Principal got me in his office and whipped me several times on my palms and ordered me to leave the school and come back with my parent. The principal told my father that Jagat to pay a fine of Rs. 5 and threatened that in case of denial I will be rusticketed (expelled from school as a bad character student) and no school would admit me. I am proud of my father that he said that only Jagat to decide. I said that paying fine means admission of the guilt. In my opinion it was not a guilt. I, with recommendation of my class teacher Mr. Chandnani, got admission in the P. H. High School, Dadu, only about 50 miles away from my home town. In 1947 on the eve of partition, there was an accidently bomb explosion in Karachi, suspected of an RSS activity. Several RSS leaders were arrested. A Khalsa police officer secretly alerted my grand father to hide me to avoid arrest. I, along with a few RSS pracharaks, secretly reached Karachi to take a ship for Okha, Gujarat, then train to Baroda. In 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Godse. Because Godse was an RSS member, the whole RSS all over India was banned. I participated in the collective protest against the injustice of punishing the whole RSS organization because of the crime by its only one RSS member. Whole family can not be punished because of the crime of its one member. I was imprisoned in Baroda jail for four months. Thousands of RSS members all over India were imprisoned. Dr. Jagat K. Motwani
