Book Asymptotic Modelling of Fluid Flow Phenomena

Download or read book Asymptotic Modelling of Fluid Flow Phenomena written by Radyadour Kh. Zeytounian and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-10 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: for the fluctuations around the means but rather fluctuations, and appearing in the following incompressible system of equations: on any wall; at initial time, and are assumed known. This contribution arose from discussion with J. P. Guiraud on attempts to push forward our last co-signed paper (1986) and the main idea is to put a stochastic structure on fluctuations and to identify the large eddies with a part of the probability space. The Reynolds stresses are derived from a kind of Monte-Carlo process on equations for fluctuations. Those are themselves modelled against a technique, using the Guiraud and Zeytounian (1986). The scheme consists in a set of like equations, considered as random, because they mimic the large eddy fluctuations. The Reynolds stresses are got from stochastic averaging over a family of their solutions. Asymptotics underlies the scheme, but in a rather loose hidden way. We explain this in relation with homogenizati- localization processes (described within the §3. 4 ofChapter 3). Ofcourse the mathematical well posedness of the scheme is not known and the numerics would be formidable! Whether this attempt will inspire researchers in the field of highly complex turbulent flows is not foreseeable and we have hope that the idea will prove useful.

This book was released on 1990 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L'APPROXIMATION DES EQUATIONS DE NAVIER-STOKES A FAIBLE NOMBRE DE MACH, EGALEMENT DITE ISOBARE, EST UNE APPROXIMATION MOINS RESTRICTIVE QUE CELLE DE BOUSSINESQ, CONSISTANT A TENIR COMPTE DE FORTES VARIATIONS DE LA MASSE VOLUMIQUE TOUT EN NEGLIGEANT LES PHENOMENES ACOUSTIQUES. NOUS PRESENTONS UNE METHODE DE RESOLUTION NUMERIQUE DE CES EQUATIONS DANS LE CAS INSTATIONNAIRE, BIDIMENSIONNEL AVEC UNE DIRECTION DE PERIODICITE. L'INTEGRATION EST DU TYPE DIFFERENCES FINIES, SEMI-IMPLICITE, EN TEMPS ET PSEUDO-SPECTRALE FOURIER-TCHEBYCHEFF EN ESPACE. LA RESOLUTION DES EQUATIONS DU MOUVEMENT FAIT APPEL A UN ALGORITHME ITERATIF DU TYPE UZAWA AVEC PRECONDITIONNEMENT. DANS LA LIMITE DE L'APPROXIMATION DE BOUSSINESQ ON OBTIENT UNE METHODE DIRECTE. UNE PREMIERE APPLICATION CONCERNE LA CONVECTION NATURELLE DANS LE PROBLEME DE RAYLEIGH-BENARD. ON COMPARE LES RESULTATS DES EQUATIONS A FAIBLE NOMBRE DE MACH AUX RESULTATS DES EQUATIONS DE BOUSSINESQ ET L'ON ANALYSE L'INFLUENCE DES VARIATIONS DES PROPRIETES DU FLUIDE. CECI EST COMPLETE PAR UNE ETUDE DE STABILITE LINEAIRE BASEE SUR UNE METHODE TAU-TCHEBYCHEFF. LA DEUXIEME APPLICATION QUE NOUS TRAITONS EST UN CAS DE COMBUSTION ISOBARE EN DOMAINE OUVERT: NOUS INDIQUONS DES RESULTATS SUR L'INSTABILITE HYDRODYNAMIQUE DE DARRIEUS-LANDAU D'UN FRONT DE FLAMME PLANE ET LAMINAIRE

Book Navier Stokes Equations

Download or read book Navier Stokes Equations written by Roger Temam and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 539 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Navier-Stokes Equations: Theory and Numerical Analysis focuses on the processes, methodologies, principles, and approaches involved in Navier-Stokes equations, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and mathematical analysis to which CFD is grounded. The publication first takes a look at steady-state Stokes equations and steady-state Navier-Stokes equations. Topics include bifurcation theory and non-uniqueness results, discrete inequalities and compactness theorems, existence and uniqueness theorems, discretization of Stokes equations, existence and uniqueness for the Stokes equations, and function spaces. The text then examines the evolution of Navier-Stokes equations, including linear case, compactness theorems, alternate proof of existence by semi-discretization, and discretization of the Navier-Stokes equations. The book ponders on the approximation of the Navier-Stokes equations by the projection and compressibility methods; properties of the curl operator and application to the steady-state Navier-Stokes equations; and implementation of non-conforming linear finite elements. The publication is a valuable reference for researchers interested in the theory and numerical analysis of Navier-Stokes equations.

Book Finite Volumes for Complex Applications III

Download or read book Finite Volumes for Complex Applications III written by Raphaèle Herbin and published by Elsevier Science & Technology. This book was released on 2002 with total page 860 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scientific computing, which involves the analysis of complex systems in real applications with numerical simulations, is becoming an important field of research in itself, in relation to theoretical investigations and physical experiments. In many cases, the underlying mathematical models consist of large systems of partial differential equations, which have to be solved with high accuracy and efficiency. Among the successful methods, in particular for discretizations on unstructured grids, are the Finite Volume schemes. This publication contains the contributions presented at the third Symposium on Finite Volumes for Complex Applications, held in Porquerolles in June 2002. After a critical review of the submitted papers, 96 papers by authors from more than 20 countries are presented in this volume. The subject of these papers ranges from theoretical and numerical results such as theoretical foundation and validation, adaptivity in space and time, higher order discretization and parallelization, to physical, applications, such as multiphase flow and flows through porous media, magnetohydrodynamics, reacting and turbulent flows, elastic structures, granular avalanches, and image processing.

Book Recent developments in the Navier Stokes problem

Download or read book Recent developments in the Navier Stokes problem written by Pierre Gilles Lemarie-Rieusset and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-04-26 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Navier-Stokes equations: fascinating, fundamentally important, and challenging,. Although many questions remain open, progress has been made in recent years. The regularity criterion of Caffarelli, Kohn, and Nirenberg led to many new results on existence and non-existence of solutions, and the very active search for mild solutions in the 1990's culminated in the theorem of Koch and Tataru that, in some ways, provides a definitive answer. Recent Developments in the Navier-Stokes Problem brings these and other advances together in a self-contained exposition presented from the perspective of real harmonic analysis. The author first builds a careful foundation in real harmonic analysis, introducing all the material needed for his later discussions. He then studies the Navier-Stokes equations on the whole space, exploring previously scattered results such as the decay of solutions in space and in time, uniqueness, self-similar solutions, the decay of Lebesgue or Besov norms of solutions, and the existence of solutions for a uniformly locally square integrable initial value. Many of the proofs and statements are original and, to the extent possible, presented in the context of real harmonic analysis. Although the existence, regularity, and uniqueness of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations continue to be a challenge, this book is a welcome opportunity for mathematicians and physicists alike to explore the problem's intricacies from a new and enlightening perspective.
