Book Wayside School is Falling Down

Download or read book Wayside School is Falling Down written by Louis Sachar and published by A&C Black. This book was released on 2010-11-01 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Watch closely,' said Mrs Jewls. 'You can learn much faster using a computer instead of paper and pencil.' Then she pushed the computer out of the window. The children all watched it fall thirty floors. 'See?' said Mrs Jewls. 'That's gravity . . .' That's the way things happen at Wayside School. There are twenty-nine kids in Mrs Jewls' class and this book is about all of them: there is Todd, who is in trouble every day, until he gets a magic dog; Paul, whose life is saved by Leslie's pigtails; Ron, who dares to try the cafeteria's mushroom surprise; and all the others who help turn a day at Wayside School into one madcap adventure after another.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Poetry By Wayside, Wayside Poetry And Quotations by Wayside. ORIGINAL POEMS and Proverbs by Wayside (William McFarland), as well as some quotations NEVER before published into a book along with SCANNED IMAGES (photos) of the original handwriting by Wayside from the late 1800s. A part of American history from the 19th Century here we have some 19th Century Poetry. This American poetry collection of American literature can tell us more about the era of the time they were written. If you want to find out what an event was like, one can read the poems which have been written about it.These Wayside poems are over 123 years old. All these American poems were written prior to 1887. They are of general themes as well as poems about American communities, family and friends. The poems and quotations inside this paperback, printed book were originally written over 123 years ago by a Union Officer in the Civil War whose real name was William McFarland. Wayside was his pen name. This is why the author's name is Wayside. Wayside's poems were kept in his handwritten notebook for over 123 years and passed down from one generation to another. These American poems were written by my Civil War Ancestor in the 19th Century. These WAYSIDE POEMS, Proverbs and Quotations were written sometime in the late 1800s although the exact years are unknown. William McFarland died suddenly in 1887 and so all of the poetry in this poetry collection was written prior to that year. William McFarland was my great, great, great grandfather. He was a writer and a school teacher. It was the dream of this Union Officer in the United States Civil War to have his poetry collection printed into a book but he did not live long enough to accomplish this task and so I am doing just that.I only wish William McFarland and my family could know that his POETRY is being published and printed into a book. This is Book Two of Four of "Poetry By Wayside" authored by Wayside.Anyone that enjoys old handwriting would probably really value the images of his beautiful, elegant old handwriting inside this book. By viewing the scanned images pages one can see the torn edges on some of the pages of the original manuscript. Anyone that collects anything old from the 19th Century would probably appreciate its value. Those that are interested in genealogy and family history may really enjoy reading this poetry book. Anyone that enjoys the 1800s, history or the Civil War period may be fascinated to read these poems thinking they were written in the late 1800s by a poet of the Civil War. The poems in this book along with their scanned images are thus a part of American history. The titles of the poetry in this book are:CarrieCarrie LodemaFour Little BellesFour O'ClockHard TimesHard To PleaseHe Hated A LiarHe Swallowed CrowHow I Became A TeetotallerIreneI Told You SoJeemsJudge NotKansasMy Native LandMy Old FriendMy Old Hoosier HomeNeponsetNeponset's Grand BazaarPeerless TwainSchool OutThe PicknickersThe Star of BethlehemQuotations include:The River Without A BridgeThe EditorA Toast Our County NewspapersProverbsThese Wayside poems are like an eye witness of how life was back then from one who actually was there and lived it. Although the poems may not be factual they do paint the reader a picture of how life might have been in the late 1800s.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There has been a terrible mistake. Instead of having thirty classrooms side by side, Wayside School is thirty storeys high! (The builder said he was sorry.) Perhaps that's why all sorts of strange and unusual things keep happening – especially in Mrs Jewls's classroom on the very top floor. There's the terrifying Mrs Gorf, who gets an unusually fruity comeuppance; Terrible Todd, who always gets sent home early; and Mauricia, who has a strange ice-cream addiction. Meanwhile, John can only read upside down, and Leslie is determined to sell her own toes. From top to bottom, Wayside is packed with quirky and hilarious characters who are all brought to life in this new edition with delightful illustrations by Aleksei Bitskoff throughout. This is an unmissable, irrepressible story of mixed-up mayhem from Louis Sachar, the bestselling author of Holes.
