Book quations de Stokes et d Oseen en domaine ext rieur avec diverses conditions aux limites

Download or read book quations de Stokes et d Oseen en domaine ext rieur avec diverses conditions aux limites written by Mohamed Meslameni and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2020 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this manuscript, we study the three-dimensional stationary Stokes equations set in a exterior domain. The problem describes the flow of a viscous and incompressible fluid past a bounded obstacle. The distinctif feature here relies on the fact that the obstacle is assumed to a rough boundary. As a result, the fluid may slip on the boundary of the obstacle and, to take into account this property, we use the Navier boundary conditions. On the one hand, They model the impermeability of the obstacle, and on the other hand, the fact that the tangential component of the fluid velocity on the obstacle is proportional to the stress tensor. This problem has been well studied when set in a bounded domain. The standard Sobolev spaces provides, in this case, an adequate functional framework for a complete study. Since in our case, the domain is unbounded, these spaces are not adapted since it is necessary to describe the behaviour of the solutions to infinity. Therefore, we choose to set the problem in weighted Sobolev spaces where the weights describe the behaviour at infinity of the function (growth or decay). In this work, we first start by performing the mathematical analysis in the Hilbert setting. The key point here is to establish variant weighted Korn's inequalities in order to get the coercivity of the bilinear form associated to the variational formulation. Next, we proved the existence, uniqueness of strong and very weak solutions. Finally, we study the extension of some of thses results to a weightedL^p-theory.

Download or read book Equations de Stokes et de Navier Stokes avec des conditions aux limites de Navier written by Ahmed Rejaiba and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 1998 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NOUS CONSIDERONS L'ECOULEMENT STATIONNAIRE D'UN FLUIDE VISQUEUX, ISOTHERME ET COMPRESSIBLE DANS UN DOMAINE EXTERIEUR DU PLAN, LA VITESSE A L'INFINI EST DONNEE NON NULLE. NOUS NOUS INTERESSONS A L'EXISTENCE ET L'UNICITE D'UNE SOLUTION DANS LA CLASSE DES FONCTIONS POSSEDANT LA MEME DECROISSANCE A L'INFINI QUE LA SOLUTION FONDAMENTALE DES EQUATIONS DE OSEEN ; DANS LA LITTERATURE SCIENTIFIQUE, CES SOLUTIONS SONT APPELEES SOLUTIONS PHYSIQUEMENT RAISONNABLES. CE RESULTAT EST DEMONTRE EN UTILISANT UNE METHODE DE DECOMPOSITION DU TYPE HELMHOLTZ, PAR UN ARGUMENT DE POINT FIXE, SOUS DES HYPOTHESES DE PETITESSE POUR LA FORCE EXTERNE ET POUR LA VITESSE A L'INFINI. DE FACON PRECISE, LA METHODE DE RESOLUTION UTILISEE EST LA METHODE DE DECOMPOSITION INTRODUITE PAR NOVOTNY ET PADULA. CELLE CI PERMETS DE SCINDER L'INCONNUE DE VITESSE EN DEUX INCONNUES AUXILIAIRES, SA PARTIE COMPRESSIBLE ET SA PARTIE INCOMPRESSIBLE. PAR CETTE PROCEDURE, LE PROBLEME INITIAL EST EQUIVALENT A TROIS SOUS PROBLEMES : UN PROBLEME DE LAPLACE AVEC DES CONDITIONS A LA FRONTIERE DU TYPE NEUMANN, UN PROBLEME DE OSEEN ET UNE EQUATION DE TRANSPORT POUR LA DENSITE. LES SOLUTIONS PHYSIQUEMENT RAISONNABLES QUE NOUS CONSTRUISONS DANS LA THESE DECRIVENT EN PARTICULIER UNE REGION DE SILLAGE PARABOLIQUE A L'INTERIEUR DE LAQUELLE LA PREMIERE COMPOSANTE DE LA VITESSE DECROIT PLUS LENTEMENT. DES ESTIMATIONS DANS LES ESPACES DE SOBOLEV AVEC POIDS SONT REQUISES POUR DECRIRE LES COMPORTEMENTS ASYMPTOTIQUES. POUR LA DECROISSANCE DE LA PARTIE COMPRESSIBLE DE LA VITESSE ET DE SES GRADIENTS, NOUS UTILISONS LES ESTIMATIONS CLASSIQUES A POIDS DANS LES ESPACES DE SOBOLEV POUR OPERATEUR DE CALDERON-ZYGMUND. LES ESTIMATIONS DECRIVANT LA DECROISSANCE DE LA DENSITE ET DE SES GRADIENTS SONT REGLEES PAR DES RESULTATS SUR L'EQUATION DE TRANSPORT ELABORES PAR B. DA VEIGA ET NOVOTNY. LES ESTIMATIONS DONNANT LA DECROISSANCE DE LA PARTIE INCOMPRESSIBLE DE LA VITESSE ET DE SES GRADIENTS SONT LIEES A LA THEORIE DU POTENTIEL AVEC LE NOYAU DE OSEEN ANISOTROPE, DEJA ETUDIEES PAR FINN, SMITH ET FARWIG, REPRIS ET AMELIOREES POUR NOTRE TRAVAIL EN DIMENSION DEUX.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, leading scientists in the fields of sensory biology, neuroscience, physics and engineering explore the basic operational principles and behavioral uses of flow sensing in animals and how they might be applied to engineering applications such as autonomous control of underwater or aerial vehicles. Although humans possess no flow-sensing abilities, countless aquatic (e.g. fish, cephalopods and seals), terrestrial (e.g. crickets and spiders) and aerial (e.g. bats) animals have flow sensing abilities that underlie remarkable behavioral feats. These include the ability to follow silent hydrodynamic trails long after the trailblazer has left the scene, to form hydrodynamic images of their environment in total darkness, and to swim or fly efficiently and effortlessly in the face of destabilizing currents and winds.

Book excerpt: A brilliant and vitally important history of why states go to war, by the acclaimed, award-winning author of The Peloponnesian War. War has been a fact of life for centuries. By lucidly revealing the common threads that connect the ancient confrontations between Athens and Sparta and between Rome and Carthage with the two calamitous World Wars of the twentieth century, renowned historian Donald Kagan reveals new and surprising insights into the nature of war and peace. Vivid, incisive, and accessible, Kagan's powerful narrative warns against complacency and urgently reminds us of the importance of preparedness in times of peace.

Book Dreadnought

Download or read book Dreadnought written by Robert K. Massie and published by Ballantine Books. This book was released on 2012-06-27 with total page 1076 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A gripping chronicle of the personal and national rivalries that led to the twentieth century’s first great arms race, from Pulitzer Prize winner Robert K. Massie With the biographer’s rare genius for expressing the essence of extraordinary lives, Massie brings to life a crowd of glittery figures: the single-minded Admiral von Tirpitz; the young, ambitious Winston Churchill; the ruthless, sycophantic Chancellor Bernhard von Bülow; Britain’s greatest twentieth-century foreign secretary, Sir Edward Grey; and Jacky Fisher, the eccentric admiral who revolutionized the British navy and brought forth the first true battleship, the H.M.S. Dreadnought. Their story, and the story of the era, filled with misunderstandings, missed opportunities, and events leading to unintended conclusions, unfolds like a Greek tragedy in this powerful narrative. Intimately human and dramatic, Dreadnought is history at its most riveting. Praise for Dreadnought “Dreadnought is history in the grand manner, as most people prefer it: how people shaped, or were shaped by, events.”—Time “A classic [that] covers superbly a whole era . . . engrossing in its glittering gallery of characters.”—Chicago Sun-Times “[Told] on a grand scale . . . Massie [is] a master of historical portraiture and anecdotage.”—The Wall Street Journal “Brilliant on everything he writes about ships and the sea. It is Massie’s eye for detail that makes his nautical set pieces so marvelously evocative.”—Los Angeles Times

Book Theoretical Glaciology

Download or read book Theoretical Glaciology written by K. Hutter and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-03-30 with total page 535 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose and scope of this book on theoretical glaciology is outlined in the Introduction. Its aim is to study the theoretical aspects of'ice mechanics' and the 'dynamics of ice masses in a geophysical environment. For the mature reader, the book can serve as an introduction to glaciology. How ever, this is not what I would regard as advisible. Glaciology is an inter disciplinary science in which many special scientific disciplines play their part, from descriptive geography to fairly abstract mathematics. Advance ment will evolve from a merger of two or more branches of scientific specialization. In the last 20 years, several researchers in different fields of glaciology have written books emphasizing the aspects of their specialities and I have listed some which are known to me at the end of the Introduction. When glancing through these books, one recognizes that the mathematical aspects of glaciology are generally glossed over and, to date, there seems to be nothing available which concentrates on these. Therefore, I have written this book in an effort to close the gap and no apologies are offered for the mathematical emphasis. Rather, I believe that this neglect has, to a certain extent, aggra vated progress in the modelling of glaciology problems.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is a powerful demonstration of how historical analysis can be brought to bear on the study of strategic issues, and, conversely, how strategic thinking can help drive historical research. Based largely on newly released American archives, History and Strategy focuses on the twenty years following World War II. By bridging the sizable gap between the intellectual world of historians and that of strategists and political scientists, the essays here present a fresh and unified view of how to explore international politics in the nuclear era. The book begins with an overview of strategic thought in America from 1952 through 1966 and ends with a discussion of "making sense" of the nuclear age. Trachtenberg reevaluates the immediate causes of World War I, studies the impact of the shifting nuclear balance on American strategy in the early 1950s, examines the relationship between the nuclearization of NATO and U.S.-West European relations, and looks at the Berlin and the Cuban crises. He shows throughout that there are startling discoveries to be made about events that seem to have been thoroughly investigated.

This book was released on 2016-03-02 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a valuable discussion of renormalization through the addition of counterterms to the Lagrangian, giving the first complete proof of the cancellation of all divergences in an arbitrary interaction. The author also introduces a new method of renormalizing an arbitrary Feynman amplitude, a method that is simpler than previous approaches and can be used to study the renormalized perturbation series in quantum field theory.

Book When the Stakes Are High

Download or read book When the Stakes Are High written by Vesna Danilovic and published by University of Michigan Press. This book was released on 2010-06-04 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Stakes Are High is based on the premise that powers have continually played a decisive role in international conflicts. Consequently, one of the key questions concerns the conditions that are likely to trigger or abate dispute escalation into major power conflicts. In this book, Vesna Danilovic provides a rigorous theoretical and empirical analysis of these conditions. Since the most precarious and common form of dispute between major powers arises over third nations, the author's primary focus is on so-called extended deterrence. In this type of deterrence, one side attempts to prevent another side from initiating or escalating conflict with a third nation. When the Stakes Are High addresses such questions as: When is extended deterrence likely to be effective? What happens if deterrence fails? In what circumstances is war likely to result from a deterrence failure? The author's main argument is that a major power's national interests, which shape the inherent credibility of threats and which are shaped by various regional stakes, set the limits to the relevance of other factors, which have received greater scholarly attention in the past. Strongly supported by the empirical findings, the arguments in this work draw important implications for conflict theory and deterrence policy in the post-Cold War era. This book will appeal to the reader interested in international relations, in general, and in theories of international conflict, deterrence, causes of wars, great power behavior, and geopolitics, in particular. Vesna Danilovic is Assistant Professor of Political Science, Texas A&M University.
