Book Quantum Chaos Proceedings Of The Adriatico Research Conference And Miniworkshop

Download or read book Quantum Chaos Proceedings Of The Adriatico Research Conference And Miniworkshop written by H A Cerdeira and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991-06-03 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has become clear in recent years that finding real chaotic behaviour in the sense of phenomena that persist in time does not exist for quantum systems. But still the question persists as what are the quantum manifestations of classical chaos, or rather how does a quantum system behave whose classical counterpart is chaotic. These proceedings discuss different contemporary aspects of this problem, experimental as well as theoretical.

Book Aspects of Network and Information Security

Download or read book Aspects of Network and Information Security written by NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2008-06-24 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Network security is concerned with creating a secure inter-connected network that is designed so that on the one hand, users cannot perform actions that they are not allowed to perform, but on the other hand, can perform the actions that they are allowed to. Network security not only involves specifying and implementing a security policy that describes access control, but also implementing an Intrusion Detection System as a tool for detecting attempted attacks or intrusions by crackers or automated attack tools and identifying security breaches such as incoming shellcode, viruses, worms, malware and trojan horses transmitted via a computer system or network. Today’s computer infrastructure is exposed to several kinds of security threats ranging from virus attacks, unauthorised data access, sniffing and password cracking. Understanding network vulnerabilities in order to protect networks from external and internal threats is vital to the world’s economy and should be given the highest priority. Computer and network security involves many important and complicated issues and this gathering of scientists will help not only in raising awareness but also in teaching participants the state-of-the-art of security techniques. Topics in network security, information security and coding are discussed in this volume.

Book Epistemological and Experimental Perspectives on Quantum Physics

Download or read book Epistemological and Experimental Perspectives on Quantum Physics written by Daniel Greenberger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 369 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the very beginning it was realised that quantum physics involves radically new interpretative and epistemological consequences. While hitherto there has been no satisfactory philosophical analysis of these consequences, recent years have witnessed the accomplishment of many experiments to test the foundations of quantum physics, opening up vistas to a completely novel technology: quantum technology. The contributions in the present volume review the interpretative situation, analyze recent fundamental experiments, and discuss the implications of possible future technological applications. Readership: Analytic philosophers (logical empiricists), scientists (especially physicists), historians of logic, mathematics and physics, philosophers of science, and advanced students and researchers in these fields. Can be used for seminars on theoretical and experimental physics and philosophy of science, and as supplementary reading at advanced undergraduate and graduate levels.

Download or read book The Hubbard Model written by Dionys Baeriswyl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the slightly more than thirty years since its formulation, the Hubbard model has become a central component of modern many-body physics. It provides a paradigm for strongly correlated, interacting electronic systems and offers insights not only into the general underlying mathematical structure of many-body systems but also into the experimental behavior of many novel electronic materials. In condensed matter physics, the Hubbard model represents the simplest theoret ical framework for describing interacting electrons in a crystal lattice. Containing only two explicit parameters - the ratio ("Ujt") between the Coulomb repulsion and the kinetic energy of the electrons, and the filling (p) of the available electronic band - and one implicit parameter - the structure of the underlying lattice - it appears nonetheless capable of capturing behavior ranging from metallic to insulating and from magnetism to superconductivity. Introduced originally as a model of magnetism of transition met als, the Hubbard model has seen a spectacular recent renaissance in connection with possible applications to high-Tc superconductivity, for which particular emphasis has been placed on the phase diagram of the two-dimensional variant of the model. In mathematical physics, the Hubbard model has also had an essential role. The solution by Lieb and Wu of the one-dimensional Hubbard model by Bethe Ansatz provided the stimulus for a broad and continuing effort to study "solvable" many-body models. In higher dimensions, there have been important but isolated exact results (e. g. , N agoaka's Theorem).

Book Principles Of Quantum Computation And Information Volume I Basic Concepts

Download or read book Principles Of Quantum Computation And Information Volume I Basic Concepts written by Giuliano Benenti and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2004-04-16 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum computation and information is a new, rapidly developing interdisciplinary field. Therefore, it is not easy to understand its fundamental concepts and central results without facing numerous technical details. This book provides the reader a useful and not-too-heavy guide. It offers a simple and self-contained introduction; no previous knowledge of quantum mechanics or classical computation is required.Volume I may be used as a textbook for a one-semester introductory course in quantum information and computation, both for upper-level undergraduate students and for graduate students. It contains a large number of solved exercises, which are an essential complement to the text, as they will help the student to become familiar with the subject. The book may also be useful as general education for readers who want to know the fundamental principles of quantum information and computation and who have the basic background acquired from their undergraduate course in physics, mathematics, or computer science.

Book Principles of Quantum Computation and Information

Download or read book Principles of Quantum Computation and Information written by Giuliano Benenti and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2018-12-04 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum computation and information is a rapidly developing interdisciplinary field. It is not easy to understand its fundamental concepts and central results without facing numerous technical details. This book provides the reader with a useful guide. In particular, the initial chapters offer a simple and self-contained introduction; no previous knowledge of quantum mechanics or classical computation is required. Various important aspects of quantum computation and information are covered in depth, starting from the foundations (the basic concepts of computational complexity, energy, entropy, and information, quantum superposition and entanglement, elementary quantum gates, the main quantum algorithms, quantum teleportation, and quantum cryptography) up to advanced topics (like entanglement measures, quantum discord, quantum noise, quantum channels, quantum error correction, quantum simulators and tensor networks). It can be used as a broad range textbook for a course in quantum information and computation, both for upper-level undergraduate students and for graduate students. It contains a large number of solved exercises, which are an essential complement to the text, as they will help the student to become familiar with the subject. The book may also be useful as general education for readers who want to know the fundamental principles of quantum information and computation and who have the basic background acquired from their undergraduate course in physics, mathematics, or computer science, as well as for researchers interested in some of the latest spin-off of the field, including the use of quantum information in the theories of many-body systems.
