Book Quality design in anatomical pathology

Download or read book Quality design in anatomical pathology written by Dr Anil Malleshi Betigeri and published by iMedPub. This book was released on with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In practicing anatomic pathology, the pathology report is a reflection of the pathologist’s competence, based on the precision and accuracy involved in finalizing it. Although designing comprehensive quality system policies and procedures at the department level would appear to be the logical approach in the right direction, precision & accuracy may not be easy to achieve due to various factors. While there can be no doubt that the data provided by practitioners of anatomic pathology is highly relevant and valuable to the practice of evidence based medicine in the clinical arena one would do well to keep in mind that the knowledge base in this speciality is predominantly observational; which can create a butterfly effect in clinical outcome. Clinical practitioners play an essential role in error reduction through several avenues such as effective test ordering, providing accurate and pertinent clinical information, procuring high-quality specimens, providing timely follow-up on test results, effectively communicating on potentially discrepant diagnoses, and advocating second opinions on the pathology diagnosis in specific situations. This is indeed the right time to consider a re-look into the functioning of our anatomic pathology departments; Multidisciplinary approach is ideal way forward in analyzing our final Diagnosis.

Book Practical Oncologic Molecular Pathology

Download or read book Practical Oncologic Molecular Pathology written by Yi Ding and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-07-10 with total page 449 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a review and high-yield reference on the clinical molecular diagnostics of malignant neoplasms. It aims to address the practical questions frequently encountered in the molecular oncology practice, as well as key points and pitfalls in the clinical interpretation of molecular tests in guiding precision cancer management. The text uses a Q&A format and case presentations, with emphasis on understanding the molecular test methods, diagnosis, classification, risk assessment and clinical correlation. Starting with an update on the molecular biology of cancer, the book focuses on the topics related to molecular diagnostics and genetics-based precision oncology. Separate chapters are dedicated to discussion of the bioinformatics for the analysis of genetic/genomic data generated from molecular assays, and quality control (QC)/quality assurance (QA) programs in the clinical laboratories; both are critical in producing high quality results for clinical care of cancer patients. These are followed by organ system-based reviews and discussions on the molecular genetic abnormalities and related tests covering diverse types of common to rare malignant neoplasms. This book also provides up-to-date knowledge related to malignant neoplasms, discusses the established as well as evolving requirements for pathologic diagnosis of these malignancies. It also discusses the cost effective utilization of molecular tests in clinical oncology. Written by experts in the field, Practical Oncologic Molecular Pathology serves as a valuable reference for practicing pathologists, fellows, residents and other health care professionals.

Book Autopsy Pathology A Manual and Atlas

Download or read book Autopsy Pathology A Manual and Atlas written by Andrew Connolly and published by Elsevier Health Sciences. This book was released on 2015-09-23 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A mainstay for pathology residents, Autopsy Pathology is designed with a uniquely combined manual and atlas format that presents today's most complete coverage of performing, interpreting, and reporting post-mortem examinations. This lasting and useful medical reference book offers a practical, step-by-step approach to discussing not only the basics of the specialty, but the performance of specialized autopsy procedures as well. Material is divided into two sections for ease of use: a manual covering specific autopsy procedures, biosafety, generation of autopsy reports, preparation of death certificates, and other essential subjects; and an atlas, organized by organ system, which captures the appearance of the complete spectrum of autopsy findings. Offers expanded coverage of microscopic anatomy. Includes a chapter on performing special dissection procedures that may not be covered during a typical residency. Examines important techniques, such as autopsy photography and radiology, microscopic examination, supplemental laboratory studies, and other investigative approaches. Addresses the latest legal, social, and ethical issues relating to autopsies, as well as quality improvement and assurance. Presents more than 600 full-color photographs depicting common gross and microscopic autopsy findings for every part of the body. Correlates pathologic findings with their clinical causes to enhance diagnostic accuracy. Improved images in the Atlas section provide greater visual understanding. Additional online features include dissection videos demonstrating autopsy techniques; downloadable, commonly used forms for autopsy reports; and calculators for weights and measures. Expert Consult eBook version included with purchase. Book Quality Control in Laboratory

Download or read book Quality Control in Laboratory written by Gaffar Zaman and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2018-08-22 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents a qualitative and quantitative approach to understand, manage and enforce the integration of statistical concepts into quality control and quality assurance methods. Utilizing a sound theoretical and practical foundation and illustrating procedural techniques through scientific examples, this book bridges the gap between statistical quality control, quality assurance and quality management. Detailed procedures have been omitted because of the variety of equipment and commercial kits used in today's clinical laboratories. Instrument manuals and kit package inserts are the most reliable reference for detailed instructions on current analytical procedures.
