Book Neural Codes and Distributed Representations

Download or read book Neural Codes and Distributed Representations written by L. F. Abbott and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since its founding in 1989 by Terrence Sejnowski, Neural Computation has become the leading journal in the field. Foundations of Neural Computation collects, by topic, the most significant papers that have appeared in the journal over the past nine years. The present volume focuses on neural codes and representations, topics of broad interest to neuroscientists and modelers. The topics addressed are: how neurons encode information through action potential firing patterns, how populations of neurons represent information, and how individual neurons use dendritic processing and biophysical properties of synapses to decode spike trains. The papers encompass a wide range of levels of investigation, from dendrites and neurons to networks and systems.

This edition contains chapters discussing the unique requirements for the universal critical quality attributes, as well as the specific tests required to characterize and control different types of products, ranging in complexity from small molecules in immediate release oral dosage forms to complex products such as drug-antibody conjugates and mRNA-based products. This substantially expanded revision of the 2nd edition will serve as practical comprehensive reference for scientists, managers, educators, and consultants involved in the development and regulation of pharmaceutical products Presents critical assessment, potential impact, and application of the recent revisions to ICH guidelines on method validation (Q2) (as well as the latest guideline on Analytical Method Development (Q14), and the special regional requirements in non-ICH regions. Addresses comprehensive treatment of the development and validation of analytical methodologies used in the analysis, control, and specification of a variety of different types of dosage forms, ranging from traditional oral solid dosage forms to proteins, nRNA-based drugs, vaccines, and gene therapy. This book will also address drug–device combination products such as digital drug delivery systems, transdermal systems, and inhalation products. Presents detailed treatment of latest statistical approaches, including new approaches to the treatment of validation data method, specification setting, and shelf-life prediction (based on stability data).

Book New Testament Greek Primer Third Edition

Download or read book New Testament Greek Primer Third Edition written by Gerald L. Stevens and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-07-14 with total page 621 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Testament Greek Primer has established itself among Greek instructors as a popular and dependable guide to the Greek of the New Testament, appreciated for its accuracy, coverage, and well-designed exercises. Students appreciate easy-to-read explanations, English grammar bridges, user-friendly layout, and copious tables, charts, and indexes. Retaining the basic form and content, the third edition builds on this solid reputation with enhanced discussion, organization, examples, and exercises. The appendix on English grammar aids English-challenged students. Pictures from the author's extensive travel overseas illustrate the ancient Greco-Roman context of the Greek New Testament. Other resources include language lessons elaborating translation and morphology issues, convenient vocabulary reviews anticipating vocabulary exams, an answer key, and indexes of vocabulary, principal parts, paradigms, and subjects. The method is deductive and the goal focused on grammar and exegesis. An early emphasis on the noun system transitions to the principal parts of the verb, followed by moods, infinitives, and participles. Two lessons on the MI-verb system conclude the work. Examples and exercises are taken directly from the Greek New Testament.

Book The Boundaries of Pure Morphology

Download or read book The Boundaries of Pure Morphology written by Silvio Cruschina and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-08-29 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together leading international scholars to consider whether in some languages there are phenomena which are unique to morphology, determined neither by phonology or syntax. Central to these phenomena is the notion of the 'morphome', conceived by Mark Aronoff in 1994 as a function, itself lacking form and meaning but which serves systematically to relate them. The classic examples of morphomes are determined neither phonologically or morphosyntactically, and appear to be an autonomous property of the synchronic organization of morphological paradigms. The nature of the morphome is a problematic and much debated issue at the centre of current research in morphology, partly because it is defined negatively as what remains after all attempts to assign putatively morphomic phenomena to phonological or morphosyntactic conditioning have been exhausted. However, morphomic phenomena generally originate in some kind of morphosyntactic or phonological conditioning which has been lost while their effects have endured. Quite often, vestiges of the original conditioning environment persist, and the boundary between the morphomic and extramorphological conditioning may become problematic. In a series of pioneering explorations of the diachrony of morphomes The Boundaries of Pure Morphology throws important new light on the nature of the morphome and the boundary - seen from both diachronic and synchronic perspectives - between what is and is not genuinely autonomous in morphology. Its findings will be of central interest to morphologists of all theoretical stripes as well as to all those concerned to understand the precise nature of linguistic diachrony.
