Book excerpt: "This powerful narrative will inspire empathy in parents, families, teachers, classmates, and friends of victims, and inspire hope in survivors that, like Jenna, they can heal and, in turn, help protect children from abuse." -Teresa Huizar, Executive Director, National Children's Alliance In a swift and breathtaking narrative, Pure In Heart tells the astonishing true story of how sixteen-year-old Jenna Quinn broke free from years of sexual abuse at the hands of a trusted family friend and coach. After the painful effects of the abuse almost cost Jenna her life, she found the courage to tell her story. With actual court impact statements, this book gives the reader a clear picture of how sexual abuse begins, progresses, and affects so many innocent lives. In Pure In Heart, Jenna is transparent about her road to recovery and healing that eventually led to her greatest passion: protecting children from abuse. Jenna's story answers the uncomfortable questions people have about child sexual abuse: How can a family not see the signs? What causes a child to keep silent for years? What resources and skills can we teach children to help them prevent or end abuse by speaking up? This book is not just a memoir; it's also a training tool with prevention as the hallmark. Jenna wrote this book to intentionally raise awareness for social change, with hopes of helping survivors find true healing and freedom. "Pure In Heart is a must-read. This book can give courage, hope, and support to anyone. It's more than inspirational. It's eye opening and gives the reader a guide to prevention." -Michael Medoro, Chief Development Officer of Childhelp "Captivating and refreshingly humorous at times-I couldn't put this book down." -Stacie Rumenap, President of Stop Child Predators

Book excerpt: "Exquisite. . . . Anchoring the story is a pair of Cairo-born sisters whose fates spin in radically different directions in the wake of the Egyptian revolution. . . . A lovely novel that does a remarkable job of bringing troubling realities to light, and life." --Vanity Fair A powerful novel about two Egyptian sisters--their divergent fates and the secrets of one family Sisters Rose and Gameela Gubran could not have been more different. Rose, an Egyptologist, married an American journalist and immigrated to New York City, where she works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Gameela, a devout Muslim since her teenage years, stayed in Cairo. During the aftermath of Egypt's revolution, Gameela is killed in a suicide bombing. When Rose returns to Egypt after the bombing, she sifts through the artifacts Gameela left behind, desperate to understand how her sister came to die, and who she truly was. Soon, Rose realizes that Gameela has left many questions unanswered. Why had she quit her job just a few months before her death and not told her family? Who was she romantically involved with? And how did the religious Gameela manage to keep so many secrets? Rich in depth and feeling, A Pure Heart is a brilliant portrait of two Muslim women in the twenty-first century and the decisions they make in work and love that determine their destinies. As Rose is struggling to reconcile her identities as an Egyptian and as a new American, she investigates Gameela's devotion to her religion and her country. The more Rose uncovers about her sister's life, the more she must reconcile their two fates, their inextricable bond as sisters, and who should and should not be held responsible for Gameela's death. Rajia Hassib's A Pure Heart is a stirring and deeply textured novel that asks what it means to forgive, and considers how faith, family, and love can unite and divide us.

Book excerpt: It is said that "your attitude determines your altitude." and Jesus taught us what attitude we should have at all times - His beloved be-attitudes or beatitudes (Mat 5:3-12). These indeed will determine how far you advance in God's kingdom. This book is about the study of and how to have these attitudes ingrained in your heart and soul. Excerpted from Thomas Watson's Book: "The Beautitudes," we here study "The Pure In Heart" "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." - Matthew 5:8 Although all the beautitudes are important we focus here on purity of heart as this will allow you to see God and hence lead you into all His nature and "attitude." Ask God to ingrain these attitudes into your heart and soul. Then study the beatitudes (hunger and thirst for them) to learn them and how to get insight to get these in your life - your heart and soul. By God's grace you will get these into your life and you will see the beautiful fruit in your life.

Book excerpt: The Pure in Heart are truly the chosen ones who can and will behold the face of God here on earth and hereafter in glory, as revealed by Christ in the gospel. Do you cherish unusual hatred, bitterness, and unforgiving spirit in your heart? Or do you condemn, criticise, and judge others after the flesh and walk in sight instead of faith? Then you need a new and pure heart, cleansed and holy unto God to fellowship with His Spirit and others and enjoy His abundant blessings. In this book, you will discover - that every good thing and gift comes from God alone, - that only those who have received the Holy Spirit and are living in righteousness and holiness in obedience to God's Word are the pure in heart who shall behold God, - that it is when the Word of God is ministered in faith and with power that wicked hearts and devils can be exposed and expelled, and - how you can have a pure heart.

Book Ephesus Pure in Heart

Download or read book Ephesus Pure in Heart written by Michael Pawlowski and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2016-04-29 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ephesus Pure in Heart is the fact-based account of the evangelical efforts of John and Mary Magdalene in Ephesus and Anatolia from AD 49 to AD 65. All their efforts were constantly being challenged by the lecherous emperor Claudius, the treacherous emperor Nero, murderous deputy consul Celer, the dogmatic Jewish community, Greek idolatry, and Roman immorality. In spite of grave resistance, significant progress was achieved in social programs and religious practice. Ultimately, Ephesus became an important center in the early Ecclesia. Their story of teamwork is memorable, and their commitment, in the face of persecution and even death, remains inspiring.

Book excerpt: The setting of the story takes place in a small Providence of Japan called "LaGundaa". I initially went to the public library and checked out all the books I could locate in the county about Japan, Japanese culture, history, fife style, and etc. I also went on the Internet to obtain any available information there. My focus was to make a special effort not to offend the people of Japan. "Pure in Heart" is a story about a 13 year-old Japanese girl who with the help of an aging sorcerer apprentice protects a small providence in Japan called LaGundaa. This book tells about this young girl's adventures as she utilizes a crystal ball, which was passed on to her from generations past to transform herself into a legendary dragon in an effort to save her hometown. This 85 year-old Spainard had lived a special life and his "legacy" per se, was to be passed on to someone who was worthy of such an honor -someone that was "pure in heart". She had to be taught how to preserve this special honor that was to be bestowed upon her and the old man was the perfect one to teach her. They developed a relationship like no other filled with dedication, devotion, compassion, strength and even a slight bit of deception in an all out effort to protect her homeland.
