Download or read book A Summary of the Ground water Resources and Geohydrology of Grand County Utah written by Chris Eisinger and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 1999-01-20 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Grand County, ground water has been withdrawn primarily from two types of aquifers: fractured rock and unconsolidated deposits. Some of the better water-yielding rock units are grouped together into nine aquifers, including: the Lower Paleozoic aquifer, the Cutler aquifer, the Wingate aquifer, the Navajo aquifer, the Entrada aquifer, the Morrison aquifer, the Dakota aquifer, the Wasatch aquifer, and the Parachute Creek aquifer. This report summarizes published information regarding ground-water conditions in Grand County. During the preparation of this report we identified several types of information that are not presently available, but can be useful for evaluating ground-water resources, including: (1) structure contour maps showing the depth to aquifers, (2) isopach maps showing the thickness of aquifers, and (3) fracture domain maps showing the predominant orientations of rock discontinuities.

Download or read book Recharge Area and Geologic Controls for the Courthouse Wash Sevenmile Spring System Western Arches National Park Grand County Utah written by Hugh A. Hurlow and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2003-12 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Courthouse-Sevenmile spring system in southwest Arches National Park supports the base flow of Courthouse Wash and a stable riparian environment that is critical to the ecology of the park and adjacent areas. Small flow volumes and location in a desert environment makes the Courthouse Wash ecohydrologic system highly vulnerable to decreases in volume and quality of recharge water. This study characterizes the hydrologic system and delineates recharge area for the system. The results will help establish limits on future ground-water appropriations west and northwest of the park, to preserve the present environmental quality and ecologic stability of Courthouse Wash This CD consists of a 55-page report and three plates at a scale of approximately 1:24,000, all in pdf format.

Download or read book Groundwater written by R. Allan Freeze and published by Prentice Hall. This book was released on 1979 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The authors preceive a trend in the study and practice of groundwater hydrology. They see a science that is emerging from its geological roots and its early hydraulic applications into a full-fledged environmental science. They see a science that is becoming more interdisciplinary in nature and of greater importance in the affairs of man. This book is their response, and they have provided a text that is suited to the study of groundwater during this period of emergence.
Download or read book Approaches to Water Sensitive Urban Design written by Ashok Sharma and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 630 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Approaches to Water Sensitive Urban Design: Potential, Design, Ecological Health, Economics, Policies and Community Perceptions covers all aspects on the implementation of sustainable storm water systems for urban and suburban areas whether they are labeled as WSUD, Low Impact Development (LID), Green Infrastructure (GI), Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) or the Sponge City Concept. These systems and approaches are becoming an integral part of developing water sensitive cities as they are considered very capable solutions in addressing issues relating to urbanization, climate change and heat island impacts in dealing with storm water issues. The book is based on research conducted in Australia and around the world, bringing in perspectives in an ecosystems approach, a water quality approach, and a sewer based approach to stormwater, all of which are uniquely covered in this single resource. - Presents a holistic examination of the current knowledge on WSUD and storm water, including water quality, hydrology, social impacts, economic impacts, ecosystem health, and implementation guidelines - Includes additional global approaches to WSUD, including SUDS, LID, GI and the Sponge City Concept - Covers the different perspectives from Australia (ecosystem based), the USA (water quality based) and Europe (sewer based) - Addresses storm water management during the civil construction stage when much of the ecological damage can be done
