Download or read book Psychological Research in the Theaters of War written by United States. Air Force and published by . This book was released on 1947 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A total of 16 officers and 31 enlisted men were involved in the research activities of the five principal projects with which this report is concerned. The primary missions were twofold: to gather combat criterion data against which to validate the tests and procedures of the Air Surgeon's selection and classification program and to collect information on the requirements of the tasks of combat airmen. This latter area of effort was designed to discover whether or not the selection and classification testing program had provided adequate coverage of traits and other attributes important in combat effectiveness. Secondary mission objectives were concerned with the following: The development of proficiency tests for the air-crew specialties; the furnishing of specially derived lead-crew aptitude scores for the use of theater personnel; the development of aptitude and other trait tests in areas judged not to be covered adequately by the selection and classification testing battery; and, in one instance, the special study of pilot fatigue associated with long missions.

Book Theory of Mental Tests

Download or read book Theory of Mental Tests written by Harold Gulliksen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-04 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic volume outlines, for both students and professionals, the mathematical theories and equations that are necessary for evaluating a test and for quantifying its characteristics. The author utilizes formulas that evaluate both the reliability and the validity of tests. He also provides the means for evaluating the reliability and validity of total test scores and individual item analysis. The work remains one of the only books on classical test theory to discuss applications, "true score" theory, the effect of test length on reliability and validity, and the effects of univariate and multivariate selection on validity.

Book The Theater of War

Download or read book The Theater of War written by Bryan Doerries and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2016-08-23 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For years theater director Bryan Doerries has been producing ancient Greek tragedies for a wide range of at-risk people in society. His is the personal and deeply passionate story of a life devoted to reclaiming the timeless power of an ancient artistic tradition to comfort the afflicted. Doerries leads an innovative public health project—Theater of War—that produces ancient dramas for current and returned soldiers, people in recovery from alcohol and substance abuse, tornado and hurricane survivors, and more. Tracing a path that links the personal to the artistic to the social and back again, Doerries shows us how suffering and healing are part of a timeless process in which dialogue and empathy are inextricably linked. The originality and generosity of Doerries’s work is startling, and The Theater of War—wholly unsentimental, but intensely felt and emotionally engaging—is a humane, knowledgeable, and accessible book that will both inspire and enlighten.

Book The History of Human Factors and Ergonomics

Download or read book The History of Human Factors and Ergonomics written by David Meister and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-12-14 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Human factors/ergonomics (HFE) as a discipline has grown by accretions rather than having been developed systematically and deliberately. Therefore, this book's goal creates a formal conceptual structure for HFE. It is intended as a contribution to cultural history because (a) ours is a technological civilization, and (b) one cannot understand technology outside of the various disciplines that make up that technology. A disciplinary history is highly specialized, but the author maintains that HFE is distinctive in being the only discipline that relates humans to technology. Other behavioral disciplines like anthropology have little connection with technology, and this is what makes HFE important in the present historical era.
