Education institutions are thus required to think more about how they can improve their student performances. One factor that has been found to play a vital role in increasing performance is psychological factors. While previous literature has extensively discussed this issue in Western contexts and some countries in Asia (e.g., Singapore and China), few extant works of literature attempt to understand it in Indonesian contexts. This book will attempt to fill the gap by discussing empirical evidence of the role of parent and peer supports, academic self-efficacy, performance goal orientation, college adjustment, cognitive process, self-control, psychological distress, differential feedback, and involvement in college organizations. Student performances are discussed in the various levels of educations, from primary schools to higher education"--

Book The Handbook of International Psychology

Download or read book The Handbook of International Psychology written by Michael J. Stevens and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2005-07-05 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: World events have raised pressing questions of psychology as it is practiced all over the globe. The Handbook of International Psychology chronicles the discipline of psychology as it evolves in different regions, in the hope of reducing the isolated, parochial, and ethnocentric nature of the American profession. It surveys the history, methodology, education and training, and the future of psychology in nine distinct regions across six continents. They represent long histories in the field, such as the United States and the United Kingdom, emerging practices, such as Uganda, Korea and Spain, the lesser-known philosophies of China and histories marked by massive social change, as in Poland and Iran. The editors have carefully selected contributors, as well as an editorial board created especially for this project. Each chapter follows a uniform outline, unifying the volume as a whole, but allowing for the cultural diversity and status of psychology in each country.

Cultural Issues In Psychology is an all round student guide to the key studies, theories and controversies which seek to explore human behaviour in a global context. The book explores key controversies in global psychology, such as: Culture: what does it mean and how has it been researched? Relativism and universalism: are they compatible approaches in global research? Ethnocentrism: is psychological research dominated by a few regions of the world? Indigenous psychologies: what are the diverse research traditions from around the world? Research methods and perspectives: how can we compare and contrast cross-cultural psychology and cultural psychology? The book also includes detailed examinations of global research into mainstream areas of psychology, such as social, cognitive and developmental psychology, as well as abnormal psychology. Book Ethics In Social Science Research In Indonesia

Download or read book Ethics In Social Science Research In Indonesia written by Mayling Oey- Gardiner, Fandi Rahardi, dan Canyon Keanu Can and published by Yayasan Pustaka Obor Indonesia. This book was released on 2021-04-08 with total page 283 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There are not many books on ethics that are currently available, especially in Indonesia. This book comes to fill that gap. A commendable book that researchers should read, especially when there is more and more research on human behavior. It is a stupendous work."  M. Chatib Basri, Executive Director, IBER Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia 2013-2014 “This book addresses an important set of issues in the context of Indonesia, a large developing country in Southeast Asia. Most work on research ethics has originated in the developed world; the strength of this book is that it relates the large international literature to the specific problems which Indonesian researchers are likely to face, especially in the social sciences. It deserves a wide readership both in Indonesia and in other parts of the world.”  Anne Booth, Professor Emeritus, SOAS, University of London "In a world full of fake news, corrupt bureaucracies, and inequitable judgements it is vital that the training of rising generations of social scientists contains thorough grounding in ethics. This volume should be required reading in all teaching programs, and a valuable addition on the desk of all graduates wishing to pursue a career in the social research professions.”  Terence H. Hull, Emeritus Professor of Demography, The Australian National University “Reading this book is an eye-opening experience. Mayling Oey Gardiner presents novelty by discussing ethics in social science research on current issues such as big data, internet-based research, and environmental research. This book can guide academics and decision-makers to define boundaries and consider the impact of social research.”  Rhenald Kasali Ph.D, Founder Rumah Perubahan Professor of Management, University of Indonesia
