En primer lugar, la Psicoterapia Intensiva Psicodinámica Breve (ISTDP). Luego se incursiona en la Psicoterapia Psicodinámica Breve basada en el Núcleo Relacional Conflictivo (CCRT).. Es notoria la falta de material teórico y práctico en idioma español, de las psicoterapias psicodinámicas breves en especial la Intensive Short-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) y sobre la Short-Term Psychotherapy CCRT model. Una de las razones más poderosas de no ser muy conocidas éstas modalidades psicoterapéuticas en América Latina se vincula a que muchos psicólogos o psicólogas no dominan el idioma inglés y su enseñanza tiende a ser únicamente en idioma español. No ha existido un esfuerzo de muchas universidades latinoamericanas en impulsar el aprendizaje del idioma inglés como requisito para ingresar a las carreras de psicología. Un segundo factor que obstaculiza el aprendizaje teórico y práctico de la ISTDP y la CCRT es la extendida concepción en muchas áreas de nuestro planeta, que la psicoterapia psicodinámica es una modalidad de terapia muy antigua y que no cuenta con respaldo investigativo sobre su eficacia y duración de tratamiento. También, muchas escuelas de psicología consideran a Sigmund Freud como un personaje que ya no tiene que ser estudiado porque ciertas versiones de psicoterapia actual no exploran la psicodinámica personal de los clientes o pacientes. Se considera que explorar el pasado es irrelevante y se focalizan en la modificación de los pensamientos que según éstas modalidades terapéuticas, se obtiene la curación del paciente al reducir las distorsiones cognitivas que la persona hace de sus síntomas y malestares. Las psicoterapias psicodinámicas breves si exploran el pasado pero con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida del paciente en el presente y en su futuro. Los principios terapéuticos de las psicoterapias psicodinámicas breves concentran sus enfoques en la focalización en la toma de conciencia o Insight emocional y no tanto en la toma de conciencia cognitiva. Indispensable en la psicoterapia ISTDP y en la modalidad de psicoterapia CCRT que he adaptado en el presente libro es el manejo de los mecanismos de defensa, la ansiedad y la resistencia transferencial. Nuestras terapias psicodinámicas se concentran en la identificación de "temas" o núcleos relacionales conflictivo recurrentes en la vida del paciente. Luego, la psicoterapia psicodinámica breve se concentra en vincular los "temas" con las figuras del pasado. En especial padres y hermanos. Luego, es indispensable tomar conciencia de esos "temas" interpersonales que interfieren en la habilidad de satisfacer las necesidades emocionales. Las psicoterapias psicodinámicas breves se concentran en aflorar a la conciencia los sentimientos/emociones que provocan la ansiedad, los mecanismos de defensa y los síntomas del paciente.Indispensable destacar que el llevar a la conciencia los sentimientos o emociones no es una experiencia cognitiva. No cura conocer cuáles son nuestros sentimientos reprimidos. Se requiere experimentar físicamente las emociones que han provocado tanto daño al paciente. Además, debe tomar conciencia de los impulsos asociados a los sentimientos que surgen a la conciencia durante el proceso terapéutico. El presente libro muestra como la categoría de los impulsos humanos se ha expandido desde los tiempos de Freud y nuestros enfoques terapéuticos toman en cuenta una variedad de impulsos que tienen que ser llevados a la conciencia del paciente.
