In secondo luogo è valutata la prospettiva manifestata da Ernst Bloch in Ateismo nel cristianesimo, e riassunta dal filosofo marxista nel più grande dei paradossi: "Solo un ateo può essere un buon cristiano, solo un cristiano può essere un buon ateo". In generale è avanzata la tesi secondo cui, pur vivendo in un contesto "post-religioso" e successivo alla morte di Dio, l'uomo contemporaneo mantenga ancora una certa sensibilità escatologica e teologica, inconsciamente presente anche nella lettura delle attuali crisi storiche.
