Book excerpt: Mediante el uso de herramientas de la prospectiva y la planeación estratégica en el presente trabajo, se busca facilitar y potencializar la toma de decisiones, dentro de la gestión hotelera del hotel Dreams Villamagna, mismo en el que desarrollé un internship. La metodología está basada en el uso de herramientas para toma de decisiones y construcción del futuro (mediante la previsión y exploración), a través del desarrollo de cuatro fases: Acercamiento a la organización, Diagnóstico estratégico, Recomendaciones para la acción y Escenarios exploratorios. En la fase de acercamiento a la organización, se llevó a cabo la recopilación de información primaria y secundaria referente al hotel, así como el análisis tendencial, con el fin de generar una visión holística del mismo. La fase de diagnóstico estratégico, se desarrolló a través de la aplicación de herramientas de la planeación estratégica (análisis FODA y mapas estratégicos), buscando generar una visión estratégica del hotel. Tras el desarrollo de las dos fases anteriormente mencionadas se identificaron áreas de oportunidad y de mejora, mismas que llevaron a la estructuración de líneas de acción para la consecución de objetivos, en una tercera fase de recomendaciones para la acción. Dentro de los escenarios exploratorios se diseñaron herramientas en Excel con el fin de facilitar a los tomadores de decisiones la exploración, el análisis y la evaluación de supuestos, llevando con ello a la previsión y anticipación por parte de los mismos. Tras el desarrollo de la tesina se pretende sensibilizar a los tomadores de decisiones acerca de las bondades del uso de métodos y herramientas de la prospectiva y la planeación estratégica, para la consecución de objetivos y la creación de valor a corto, mediano y largo plazo.
