Book Michael Paul Rogin

Download or read book Michael Paul Rogin written by Alyson Cole and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Michael Paul Rogin’s scholarship profoundly altered the scope, content, and disposition of political theory. He reconstituted the field by opening it to an array of texts, performances, and methods previously considered beyond the purview of the discipline. His work addressed the relationship between dimensions of politics typically split apart – institutional power and cultural forms, material interests and symbolic meanings, class projects and identity politics, the public and the private. Rogin’s scholarship enlarges our sense of the borders and genres defining political theory as a field and enriches our capacity to think critically and creatively about the political. The editors have focused on three categories of substantive innovation: Demonology and Countersubversion Rogin used the concepts “countersubversive tradition” and “political demonology” to theorize how constitutive exclusions and charged images of otherness generated imagined national community. He exposed not only the dynamics of suppressing and delegitimizing political opposition, but also how politics itself is devalued and displaced. The Psychic Life of Liberal Society Rogin addressed the essential contradiction in liberalism as both an ideology and a regime – how a polity professing equality, liberty, and pluralist toleration engages in genocide, slavery, and imperial war. Political Mediation: Institutions and Culture Rogin demonstrated how cultural forms – pervasive myths, literary and cinematic works – mediate political life, and how political institutions mediate cultural energies and aspirations.

Book Management and Leadership

Download or read book Management and Leadership written by Stavros Baroutas and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2011-12-23 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a plethora of theoretical books out there addressing management of human resources and responsibilities, in order to help organisations perform in the best possible way. Be that as it may, only a few of them suggest actual ways of applying what is written to everyday situations. This particular book constitutes a valuable tool in managers attempt to put the basic principles of management into action in the workplace. This book involves certain concepts, notions and theories related to marketing, management and psychology, aiming to help the reader shape a broader impression of external reality. How do creativity and inspiration function? In which ways can individuals stimulate them? Which are the functions of human conscience and what do they serve for? Which are the positive and negative features involved in individuals thought processes? What makes people change? What can individuals do in order to attain personal and professional success? How do leaders respond and operate in times of crisis? The above are only some of the questions raised in the book. According to my book, financial crisis tested all the social and economic environment. Things are changing rapidly and individuals have to change and adapt very fast in order to survive (this is the first part of my book Personal Development) . Nowadays, a manager is concerned to be a leader. A kind of a hero. A person who can inspire, attack and come out intact from the transactions and reforms. Employees must give the extra mile to their leaders and from all these chaotic circumstances (environment ) they have to succeed for their own good! Furthermore, what individuals have to do in order to attain personal and professional success and how do leaders respond and operate in times of crisis? All these, in my personal opinion, responded in my book in order to give a few guide lines (second part) to anyone who want/need to change/survive today. An attempt is made to provide a plausible answer, in order to render the reader more aware of such concerns and stimulate a change for the better

Book The Leadership Playbook

Download or read book The Leadership Playbook written by Nathan Jamail and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2014-07-31 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The successful self-published author of The Sales Leaders Playbook writes his first mainstream leadership book There are enormous differences between managing and coaching. Yet many companies and organizations encourage their leaders to coach teams without ever teaching them how and without creating a culture that supports coaching. Nathan Jamail—a leading consultant, professional speaker, and the president of his own group of businesses—trains coaches at several Fortune 500 companies and learned that it takes not only different skills to achieve success, but a truly effective coach needs an organizational culture that creates and multiplies the success of every motivated team member. The Leadership Playbook shows leaders the skills necessary to be an effective coach and to build effective teams by: Fostering employees’ belief in the culture of a company Resolving issues proactively rather than reactively and creating an involvement that constantly pushes employees to be their best Focusing on the more humane principles of leadership—gratitude, positivity, and recognition—that keep morale high Holding teams and individuals accountable Constantly recruiting talent ("building the bench") rather than filling positions only when they are empty Combining research, interviews, and inspiring stories with the lessons that have earned Jamail the respect of the world’s foremost corporations including CISCO, FedEx, Sprint, the U.S. Army, and State Farm; The Leadership Playbook will dominate the category for years to come.
