Download or read book Vibrational Spectra of Benzene Derivatives written by G Varsanyi and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 431 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vibrational Spectra of Benzene Derivatives specifically deals with the problems of the vibrational spectra of benzene and its derivatives. The book is divided into three chapters. Chapter 1 explains the concepts of the electronic and electronic-vibration spectra, vibrational spectra, and rotational spectra. Chapter 2 tackles the normal co-ordinate analysis of the benzene molecule; the force field of substituted benzene derivatives; and elementary problems of intensity analysis. Chapter 3 covers the normal vibrations of benzene and its derivatives, which include tangential vibrations; out-of-plane vibrations; and internal vibrations of substituent groups. The book also contains an appendix dedicated for the frequency region of different normal vibrations of benzene derivatives. The text is recommended for chemists who are intrigued with the problems related to the vibrational spectra of benzene derivatives and are in need of a reference book.
Download or read book Uncovering the Hidden Harvest written by Martin K Luckert and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-06-25 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forests and woodlands provide an enormous range of goods and services to society, from timber and firewood to medicinal plants, watershed protection, destinations for tourists and sacred sites. Only when these are understood and valued can forests and their resources be properly managed and conserved. This work shows how the complicated network of benefits can be untangled and sets out the different approaches needed to value them. It covers the analysis of plant-based markets, non-market valuation and decision frameworks such as cost-benefit analysis.

Download or read book I Will Survive written by Gloria Gaynor and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2014-03-11 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I Will Survive is the story of Gloria Gaynor, America's "Queen of Disco." It is the story of riches and fame, despair, and finally salvation. Her meteoric rise to stardom in the mid-1970s was nothing short of phenomenal, and hits poured forth that pushed her to the top of the charts, including "Honey Bee," "I Got You Under My Skin," "Never Can Say Goodbye," and the song that has immortalized her, "I Will Survive," which became a #1 international gold seller. With that song, Gloria heralded the international rise of disco that became synonymous with a way of life in the fast lane - the sweaty bodies at Studio 54, the lines of cocaine, the indescribable feeling that you could always be at the top of your game and never come down. But down she came after her early stardom, and problems followed in the wake, including the death of her mother, whose love had anchored the young singer, as well as constant battles with weight, drugs, and alcohol. While her fans always imagined her to be rich, her personal finances collapsed due to poor management; and while many envied her, she felt completely empty inside. In the early 1980s, sustained by her marriage to music publisher Linwood Simon, Gloria took three years off and reflected upon her life. She visited churches and revisited her mother's old Bible. Discovering the world of gospel, she made a commitment to Christ that sustains her to this day.

Book excerpt: A rapidly growing area, remote sensing is crucial to the effort of modeling the earth's atmosphere and collecting such fundamental data as temperature, winds, pressures, water vapor distribution, clouds and other active constituents. This information enables us to test existing models of the atmosphere's energy balance, depletion of the ozone layer, climatic trends and other essential environmental data. Also discussed is the application of microwave remote sensing techniques to the atmospheres of planets other than the earth.

Download or read book Global Geodetic Observing System written by Hans-Peter Plag and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-25 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS) has been established by the Int- national Association of Geodesy (IAG) in order to integrate the three fundamental areas of geodesy, so as to monitor geodetic parameters and their temporal varia- ?9 tions, in a global reference frame with a target relative accuracy of 10 or b- ter. These areas, often called ‘pillars’, deal with the determination and evolution of (a) the Earth’s geometry (topography, bathymetry, ice surface, sea level), (b) the Earth’s rotation and orientation (polar motion, rotation rate, nutation, etc. ), and (c) the Earth’s gravity eld (gravity, geoid). Therefore, Earth Observation on a global scale is at the heart of GGOS’s activities, which contributes to Global Change - search through the monitoring, as well as the modeling, of dynamic Earth processes such as, for example, mass and angular momentum exchanges, mass transport and ocean circulation, and changes in sea, land and ice surfaces. To achieve such an - bitious goal, GGOS relies on an integrated network of current and future terrestrial, airborne and satellite systems and technologies. These include: various positioning, navigation, remote sensing and dedicated gravity and altimetry satellite missions; global ground networks of VLBI, SLR, DORIS, GNSS and absolute and relative gravity stations; and airborne gravity, mapping and remote sensing systems.
